Progress!

maybe if live mode was alittle more satisfying but i always seem to spend more time using cheat codes to furnish my sims with decent personalities and then once im happy that i have an actual, well-round chara, i realise that play mode is a bit... meh? so im deffo more of a creator/builder

I chose character creation because that's what I USUALLY get stuck for hours on lmao. Though now with Paralives I think I'll be spending a bit more time in build mode

At the moment, I spend more time in build mode. While I do LOVE building, I wish the gameplay in the current 'life sim' I'm playing was better (Sims4). Unfortunately it's really lacking in that area, feels dumbed down compared to the previous versions, and has little substance keeping me interested.

Build mode, but if play wasnt as clunky I would spend lots more time in live/play mode

I find myself often spending an equal amount of time building, decorating, and creating characters, I always go back and change things as my story progresses! ^__^

Mostly live mode, but i like creating characters and decorating houses. I cant build worth a damn, but i do like interior decorating lol i spend a heavy amount of focus in character creating and interior design.

I love build mode. But I think I'd love game play mode, it just stops being fun really quickly in games like sims 4. Especially if you can't afford expansion packs :/

Play (Live Mode) and Build Mode are my two main focuses. Although in the Sims 4 there's a clear lack of depth and every character starts to feel the same

Only Build mode in sims 4 as gameplay is boring but equal amount in all other sims

I prefer the Life mode, because I'm really bad on making houses.

Yes all 3 is important, but if one of these 3 is lacking then I spend more times in the other two. For example: in Sims4 gameplay is really lacking, and so I spend more time is CAS and build/buy mode. But in Sims2 and Sims3 where gameplay is focused I find myself actually playing the game more. So all in all gameplay should be atleast number 1 on the list

So far we've just seen Build mode and it looks stellar. The game will be worth playing for me just to build cool stuff. A similar freedom and creative power for character creating would be pretty mind blowing. But the area where I think you have the potential to lap 'the competition' is in Live Mode. Sims does the other two things really well, imo. By all means, a game that does it better will be awesome. But the thing that really kills me with S4 is the tiresome scattershot AI and aimless gameplay options. It's almost a trope now - a sim doing nonsense things like repeatedly going outside just to slip in puddles, going on a date and making a b-line to play chess by yourself never even speaking to the sim they went with. I'm sure these areas - recreating human behavior - is a huge challenge. But I think much better is possible. Maybe collaborate with behavioral psychologists, master story-tellers, etc. If you can properly 'gamify' the human daily experience, while still giving the flexibility to play however we want, then I think Paralives will be a smash success.

All 3 are important to me, but I come to the game to tell a story. Usually I'm just telling the story to myself, but the more real I can make it the better, so places to go, things to do, jobs to get better at and little surprises really make the game for me. I like to be in charge more often than the game is.

I like play mode the most, though the build and lot tools in this game is tempting me to try building. That said a big part of my enjoyment is in playing out the lives of my characters.

I chose live/play mode. But character creation is also very important to me. Creating realistic black sims with awesome hair requires mods on mods (sims has a default greyish colour brown skin that is so..bleh -_-) I hope that you will be able to incorporate nice skin tones and hairstyles in your base game. You should look to the incredible black simmer community and modders for inspiration

I love creating characters, I like to have a great variety of options, and being able to feel that I am like "molding" it.

I only like to build, i do create characters to only have a story and create a build according to the history of the character but i dont really play with them

I do all 3 equally, but Sims 4 has really disappointed with the gameplay, so I find myself getting bored more quickly. Love building and creating characters

I think that since live mode in recent sims 4 content has been lackluster and boring, live mode should be more focused on. However, the snippets of build/buy mode stuff you put out has already been great!

I think I spend more time in live mode but personally compared to the sims 4 I feel like the build mode should be easy to handle but way more interesting and with different choices

I'm a story teller so I spend alot of time in character creation making the people that will be involved and I spread them across them map but I spend most of my time playing and telling the story

Build Mode. one of my favourite things to do is attempt to re-create real life houses in the sims, and it's extremely difficult because of the limitations in The Sims. - Can't wait for Paralives!

I love both, playing and building. My wife loves creating characters. My favorite part is playing (Live Mode), but I spend some time building my desired house.

I like building. ;D But I think all of these three aspects are equally important for life simulation genre. But I should say, buildings are a labor of love and that it was a personal expression of the builder. I am old-school when it comes to architecture. Spanish Colonial (and Spanish Colonial Revival), Georgian, Federal, Mission Revival, and Art Deco are among my favorite architectural styles.

Game play is sooo important! But other aspects are kinda also included in the game play :D love your work!

I don't usually or have ever became a patron member to anyone before so u are my first, I'm very excited for this game, I live the sims and I haven't been able to find a game like it so if this can be like the sims or even better, I will spend how ever mu h I have Toto get my hands on this game and support u, I'm very excited and happy to see all the progress

Even if it’s in last place, please consider build mode. What makes the play mode pleasant are also the building !

Congrats on the number of patrons! As for the poll, I tend to prefer character creator and build mode in life simulation games, I do like live mode but I just love creating things!

I think I spend a fairly equal time in each; however, the character creation probably just edges ahead of the build mode, which I think I spend a little bit more time in than actually then playing in live mode.

Character creation is one of my favorite parts of life simulation because I love to make characters that look like me and my friends. I love build mode and live mode as well, maybe having live mode "tie" with character creation. But I always feel like live mode is lacking without unique characters.

i love live mode but it has to be supported by an in depth character development, or at least a multidimensional personality 😊 if not then i would certainly enjoy building more

I personally like furnishing the buildings and finding out which pieces fit, what decorations and color schemes suit the mood of the room, etc. But character creation is definitely a close second

It looks like almost everyone loves game play with a fairly equal lesser number who specifically love the building and/or character creating aspects in their own right.

I love build mode and trying out cheats that allow me to do new things. But, it becomes tedious. Character creation does, too. I usually download from the gallery and tweak a few things. lol. Gameplay is what I come to these games for. :)

Honestly I spend most of my time in live mode, but its character creation and building that allow me to spend all my time actually playing. I spend hours in them tweaking until things are just right for me to play out my story.

I feel like the building and the characters both matters a lot to the actual play mode. Btw, sooo excited about this game, I told all my friends and family about it and they’re hyped af too now :))

Give me the whole lot! Everything! :) But i am very interest in the simulation as I never played a sim game where i can see the relationship changing! :)

I'm a builder 100%. its very rare I play the game, and I love adding new content to replicate houses I see that inspire me. I've always struggled with the restrictions of the sims (attics, stairs, the size of the lots etc) so I'm thrilled that Paralives seems to be addressing this! <3

I love creating characters and decorating. I hope we could have more character developments, quirks, genetics. More family play. You are doing wonderful work!

I love to build, some aspects of building can be challenging in the Sims games, so I am hoping that Paralives will change that :)

Don’t get me wrong, I could (and have) spent hours and hours in character customization in any game, especially on one as detailed as this. But it’s been so long since I’ve felt truly immersed in a game like this. I miss it.

I'm a character creator but I've always wanted to get more into building, but the limitations of other games have always put me off 😂

I love all 3 aspects equally.

I love to create my beautiful characters, build their houses and play. So all aspects are equally important. It’s also important for me to be able to turn off the aging. Because I like to play with the same characters and I don’t want them to die.

I love telling long family or community sagas, watching my little people and my neighborhoods grow and evolve.

I love interacting with other charcters and go in depth in hobbies and family experiences

Will loans and mortages be included in the game, so its harder an more realistic than the sims

I’ve always loved building and I think that’s because in past simulation games there wasn’t a lot of things to do with gameplay/playing the actual game. So I would build and make up ideas and stories in my mind, that I would like my characters to be able to do if they could. But I love filling up my houses as if they actually lived there with clutter and accessories based on my characters personality and the job they’d have and the kind of life they’d be living. But also I love building because I like to bring house designs I would love to actually live in myself if I could, to an actual visual and take pictures (my inner architect interior designer haha). I also love character creation and their customization in that aspect because I am a writer and storyteller so in simulations that allow this in-depth customization, during my writing process I can bring my characters to life and put a face to a name finally :)

In any game I can spend hours creating my character, customization is a big deal breaker for me. I'm not the best builder but I give it a shot once in a bit, I like spending more of the time filling up the house from buying things. Decorating to make a homey lived in kind of place. But hands down, live mode is my favorite with all the surprises I've come across in games and the hilarity in some cases is what makes me feel really connected to my characters and the people around them.

Live mode for sure, especially when the story progression is great. Otherwise it's character creator.

Live mode is the bread and butter but I love the character creator if could vote for both I would.

The best part is that I dont have to choose which is my favorite. I'm a "phaser". Sometimes I'm build obsessed. Then it's all about character progression. Live mode is just the cherry on top of heavens sundae. 😊😂

It's all about the building for me, and it's what drew me to Paralives in the first place!

They all go hand in hand, I can be super bias because I am a builder, but at the end of the day, Play mode is what ties it all together. My issue with the last game was, build mode was great! But what happens after you build that perfect house? The lacking gameplay can only take you so far. Especially me being a life simulation player! I can’t enjoy my character’s life if there is nothing to do, and all the character act the same.

Honestly never been a fan of build mode because I'm not too good at it but with such an ability to customise building in this game I'm definitely gonna give it a shot!

I've spend days on houses in The Sims but character design is the next most important thing for me followed by gameplay. I'm sure gameplay should be that most important but I like creating.

This is amazing!! Tbh my favorite aspect is a combination of character creation and building - I like creating towns w distinct relationships and histories and then play with them for two days and then never mess w them again

The most important thing for me is definitely live mode. So far, nothing has even compared to The Sims in that aspect. Family life is specially important for me personally, but (if possible) there needs to be a great variety of things to do, otherwise the game will quickly become stagnant. Loving your work, Alex 💜
