Paralives Delay Announcement + Live Mode Gameplay Streams

Hi, Alex here.

Unfortunately, we had to make the difficult decision to delay the release. We are truly sorry for the last-minute announcement. After thoughtful consideration, we feel it’s best for the game and the community. This year, we ran many playtests with friends and fans, and we were confident that we could improve the game enough in time for December. In the lead-up to Early Access release, we broadened our playtests with a more varied playerbase, and the latest feedback we received made us realize the game isn’t up to the standard we wanted it to meet for release. Players enjoy the flexibility and the customization of the Paramaker and Build Mode. However, there are still impactful bugs in the Live Mode and a lack of activities to do in the town, which dampened the enjoyment of the players, and we feel it is necessary to work on these before delivering the product to the community.

I started this project wanting it to be a fresh and indie take on the doll-house life simulation genre, which had not been tackled by many game developers. I attribute this partly to the fact that a project like Paralives is a colossal task. Life sims are really 3 games in one: an advanced and flexible build mode, a greatly customizable character creator and a complex life simulation mode. Over the last 6 years of development, starting with 2-3 developers for the first years, to growing to an average team size of only 10 people, we had to alternate long stretches of development between these 3 parts of the game. We are so proud of what we have built, but now, we just need a bit more time to polish the simulation part of the game. This would ensure Paralives offers a great first experience when it launches, making players come back for every exciting free update and expansion that we will put out afterwards.

The new Early Access release date is May 25, 2026. We have updated our detailed roadmap (paralives.com/roadmap) with what we will be improving over the coming months, with a focus on fixing important issues and improving the first-time user experience. This will ensure that more players will be happy with the state of the game at launch when comparing it to other great life simulation games that sparked everyone’s love for the genre.

On Tuesday, November 25, at noon EDT, we will stream 45 minutes of uninterrupted live mode gameplay on our YouTube channel to show the current state of the game, the various gameplay features and explain what we will be improving before launch. We plan on keeping you all updated with streams and videos leading up to the new release date. We remain fully committed to making a quality and innovative game with the support of the community and to updating it for years to come after release. We’re beyond grateful for your continuous support, and it means the world to our small team of passionate developers!

How Does the Delay Affect our Patreon?

Patreon will remain active until the new Early Access release date. Your feedback has been so incredibly helpful, and we will keep updating you each week with exclusive Patreon posts. We are deeply thankful for all the support you have given us. While we totally understand and apologize for the fact that it must be shocking to learn about the delay, we really believe that this decision will allow us to truly deliver a game that matches what you Patrons deserve.

Regarding the Patreon rewards, a few of them that are already closed (highlighted below) will remain closed, but the others will stay open and claimable by existing and new Patrons.

The rewards that are closed are highlighted in red. If you already unlocked these rewards, you will still get them, no worries!

As we have started recently, we will do exclusive streams every couple of weeks for all Patrons on Discord and share them in a Patreon post afterwards. This new formula will replace the Discord dev chat (Ancient tier reward) because it reaches more Patrons and we can use the opportunity to answer more questions and collect feedback during the stream or in the comment section of the Patreon post when we publish the replay video.

Rewatch This Week’s Live Mode Stream

⬆️🎥 This Tuesday, we did a stream on Discord for Patrons only, and you can watch the replay above (please don’t share it outside of Patreon) 🔐

It showcases the current state of the live mode, interesting gameplay features that Paralives has and also, in all transparency, some bugs that we are currently working on. As mentioned earlier, we are planning to do another similar stream but publicly this time, and it will take place on YouTube on Tuesday, November 25, at noon EDT.

Closing Note

Again, thanks so much for making this game possible. We will keep working very hard to provide the solid gameplay experience that you deserve when Paralives launches on May 25th, 2026. Please share your thoughts below, and we are happy to read and answer any questions you might have.

Alex and the whole team <3

Questions and thoughts from Paralives live mode gameplay: The chat on the side was moving too fast for me so I’ve taken notes here :) Accessibility feature to modify or omit animations like the barber shop decorations spiraling around? Maybe slow the fast forward arrow flashing and such too, or omit? Maybe something for time skip things too idk. But yeah, etc. Click and drag camera is nice. Also the tabs! Loving this. Personality level ups even! What about turning lamps off before sleeping at night? They seem to automatically turn off during the day. More realistic vs practical for player, hmm eh. Oh I love the vibes and stuff. Since I haven’t mentioned it yet, love the art. Are there plants in the overhead light in the cafe?? I wish I loved here where Milo is it’s perfection. A little reading nook and everything right nextdoor? Amazing. Aw the light in the plant shop is like a romantic little spotlight hehe Antoine looks like he’s blushing Making your para run is so real I wish the lamp wasn’t so bright it’s like whited out entirely instead of glowing like the ceiling lightbulb, unless you zoom in on it, but maybe there’s a way to dim idk Is the plant’s name Joey??? Love the idea of naming plants and free daily plant. The only plants I can possibly maintain are in para XD Such nice cozy vibes. If a para eats spoiled pizza will they get sick? I see it’s still an option to eat spoiled. Milo’s hair looks great btw Love the relaxing music too Ooo I guess Milo and Pauline aren’t poly paras lol Thanks for the live look! It's been a minute since I could check in. Glad to see it's going well!

P

The postcards are unhighlighted for the hero tier, so it seems they'll send another one!

M
Mirka Lintula · November 23, 2025

Question about rewards: I already got the emails for naming an object and getting recreated as a townie. Does this mean I'll also get the poster, if I downshift my tier from now on?

K
Kellie Been · November 22, 2025

No worries! All good things to those who wait. I'd much rather you guys take your time and make the game what you want it to be instead of rushing into things; if anything, this delay shows how much you care about Paralives and its community. A few more months (or longer, if necessary) for a better experience ain't gonna drive me away.

A
Adri Györe · November 22, 2025

Hi! I have a question about visuals in Live Mode / Build & Buy. Is there (or will there be) an option to make indoor rooms look like they actually have a ceiling while playing? Right now, from what I've seen, when viewing the house from above, the spaces feel very “open”, as if there’s no roof and the sunlight is coming straight in. I’m wondering if there will be a mode or setting where interiors look more like real indoor spaces, with the sense of a ceiling overhead. Thank you!

Whimsett · November 21, 2025

I’ve finally gotten around to watching this stream. I can definitely see why you chose to delay launch. The pathing, bugs, and content need more work. Thank you for acknowledging the current state of the game. I so look forward to the launch in May! You guys are doing such a great job! Much love! 💙

M
Maya · November 19, 2025

Personally I'm not really mad at these news, we've already waited 6 years for this game so a couple of months won't change much. It would've been better to warn us earlier, but alas it is what it is, and I'm still super excited for all the things you will be able to complete that would've missed if you didn't report the release day

T
The Dawn of Vanlife · November 19, 2025

I don't know what the vibe is over at Paralives studios right now. Having seen the livestream of live mode, know after the livestream I was still stoked to play with the limitations (as it is an early access game) and I had every confidence I would be able to play, have fun, and give feedback over time. And its just easier to give constructive feedback when you are playing with a character your way as opposed to the person on screen in a livestream, I was so excited for that. I know there's a ton of angry energy outside of this Patreon and outside of the loyal followers on Discord because the delay seemed so abrubt, but I'm still looking forward to what Paralives can bring to the lifesim genra, which, alongside inzoi and Sims 4, is new choice for players. The choice to play another game without abandoning the genra all together because there's nothing in it for you. And many of us are just on the verge of abandoning the lifesim genra all together. Everything about Paralives screams a "game I want to play" so while I am disappointed I won't get to play it on Dec. 8th, I am still looking forward to playing it in May. Hope everyone is doing okay at Paralives Studios.

K
Karinameows · November 19, 2025

honestly this was exactly what I expected for the game in early access, and I really think there shouldn't have been a delay this has caused a bit of a red flag now for many people unfortunately, not people in the discord as much or Patreon members but lots of others, I think it was a very quick backout use did especially after releasing the what is early access video and the system requirements etc a lot of people were looking forward to this for Chrissy and now with the delay after people see this live mode gameplay themselves they will be saying what i am saying plus much more and will expect the game now to be much much more complete by may25th more than what use will do 100% because the thing is people will never ever be happy there will always be people who will not like it or complain whether use released it in December or may. if anything use will probably get a lot more hate now in May when it releases cause like i said people will expect much more, I'm not saying this to be rude I'm just saying what i have seen and heard i have been a member with use for a long time now and i really want paralives to succeed i just think this was a bad choice sorry. anyway, can't wait to see mor of paralives until May arhhh seems like another 6 years of waiting tbh lol. xoxo

K
Karinameows · November 21, 2025

I think it was deffs a bad choice. That is just my opinion though :) use will all see in may people will judge the game much more now after this delay. There is already many people neglecting it now unfortanitly. I think its suspiciouse they delayed last minute regardless. And im not the only one.

A
Anna Gore · November 18, 2025

Just watched the livestream, and honestly it was about what I expected, in fact it seemed a bit better than I thought it probably would be at Early Access so I'm really happy with the way the game is looking so far. I respect your decision to delay though, as obviously this will allow you to iron out the bigger bugs for Live Mode, I'm actually more excited now than I was before the announcement!

F
Folk sr · November 18, 2025

F
Folk sr · November 18, 2025

I think 3 hours prior to the working time, or automatically reduce speed time 2 hours prior to the working time is good to have because we sometimes disassociate from the clock like in the video around 37 minutes

N
Nyree Necole · November 18, 2025

I'm happy this team is good at keeping us informed about the progress of everything. I'm willing to wait however long you guys need; good things take time. One cool idea I have for interactions is if, through viewing relationships with other Parafolk if we were able to see how the relationship started, such as, "Asked so-and-so for directions". I think having the first interaction as a memory would be cool, then after that, it could show the progress of the relationship from there.

C
Chelsea Stanfel · November 18, 2025

I feel like the "Vibes" could be expanded as well, i.e. "Helpful" or "Arrogant", etc. Sorry, I've never commented and now I suddenly feel compelled to share ideas to help you guys make Paralives the best it can possibly be for Early Access!

C
Chiara · November 17, 2025

Perhaps the next stream could be done by one of the devs? so that he/she will be able to tell "we are working to fix this bug right now", "this will stay like this for the time being", "we're working on this or that". Also I've never seen the streams live but always on Fridays, is there a way to see the chat with the devs' replies and explanations?

C
Cece · November 17, 2025

the patron only streams have taken place on discord, with some devs in chat usually talking about the bugs/answering questions, but the one on the 25th will be on youtube.

T
Thabiso Ptk❤️🖤🤍💚☭ · November 17, 2025

Also I think it would be helpful to add a "this 'insert specific thing' is blocking your way" if you can't go somewhere so that it doesn't confuse the player on what is blocking their Para. It seemed that Rina as a player didn't know what was in the way of their Para which would add a bit of frustration to the a new player of the game.

J
Jade Mulick · November 17, 2025

I think delaying is ultimately the right thing to do. Take whatever time you need to get the game to a state that you're happy with. As a 20+ years Sims player, I hope that you'll consider taking inspiration from the earlier Sims games as you continue to develop live mode. I understand that Paralives is its own game and nobody is expecting a carbon copy, but there are so many great features from these games that I think could inspire similar mechanics in yours. The wants system as it stands now reminds me of the "whims" system from TS4, which I don't love. Longer term goals and wishes would give players a sense of their Para's hopes and dreams, and give them something to work towards beyond simple box ticking. As another comment suggested, it would also be good if some wants appeared randomly, so that the player isn't always obligated to choose. The world feels quite lifeless at the moment too, though I'm sure this is something you're aware of and actively working on. Changes to NPC behaviour would make a huge difference here. Having NPCs walk together in pairs or groups, interacting with objects in the world or even just stopping and exploring a while instead of walking directly from point A to B could create a much more vibrant feel. Hopefully in the future we'll see that lovely café filled with neighbours enjoying a coffee or reading a book! I hope this doesn't come across as harsh, as I've been a huge supporter of Paralives for years and I really do want to see it succeed. Hopefully with some extra work and polish you can realise your vision. Take your time. You have our support!

C
Chubuk · November 19, 2025

I totally agree with your points about NPCs needing to interact more! It would make the world feel so much more alive. And you mentioning the café actually reminds me of my own idea about this: I really hope the game doesn't just pick random Paras for community lots. Instead, it should choose them based on their personalities! That way, we could have "regulars" – like seeing the same bookworm in the library all the time, or the same lovely couple always chatting at a table for two in that café. It would make the town feel so much more real and cohesive. Fingers crossed the developers are thinking along the same lines!

S
Scrydan Biringer · November 16, 2025

Honestly? I think those that were Patreons for X time/amount donated should like be able to enter some kind of Early Beta. This would be GREAT for those who don't care about bugs and for the worry about content getting shown on the outside, you could ID the screen with some kind of watermark that would show who the leaker is and deal with them properly. Not sure, but it'd be REALLY great to actually have some early access support cause I don't mind bugs or helping testing things. Heck maybe make it where they get to audition/apply to test it versus automatically get it if you want to control it a bit? I understand the delay is (probably) worth it, but I do think it'd be great to just play a game we're hoping to be able to play and just enjoy it and know it is still being worked on. Otherwise I do worry it might just kinda slip off the radar and whatnot. == This next thing is kinda a thing I want to say here in regards to the rewards. The "Recreate" your character here thing is a lot more limited than it entails and I wished it specified what it did ON that reward. Cause some people want to recreate themselves but don't like their own exact appearance. Whether that be weight, recolor hair, different/impossible hair style for their current hair type (short can only do so much), and stuff like that. I don't know if you can just say to "See this face, change it like X" or whatever. But I don't want to submit anything til I know SOMETHING cause I unlikely will get many chances to change it cause the form makes it a bit scarier than it likely is. The create item process I have a bigger gripe with. The available items to choose from is... so limited, I feel like it is IMPOSSIBLE to have an item you'd actually even like. Why can't someone just have a renamed laptop on their own characters/version of the game/pack that simply just fixes that? I don't need to have my own item for everyone, even if it'd be cool. But I feel like with the amount of people who got in early, people who hoped to create anything fun is left with... chair, tree, paper clip... not fun. :/ So anyways figured I'd mention this here. I am not sure if it'd even be read, but I had to at least say it *somewhere*. Hope the game works out well!

K
Karinameows · November 19, 2025

uhm yes this is great i also feel like we should be able to play the game since we have been supporting for so long now lol surly, we have to get a little bit of extra benefit then others i know we see all this good stuff before others but.... i still think it would be cool maybe even before realese that we can play like few days earlier than other people at least. x

I still haven't watched the live stream, so I may edit this comment later, but I just wanted to say that I really respect your postponing of Paralives in order to release in the best state possible even if it's for early access. It's saddening for sure, but we will wait and continue to support you, because it already looks great. Keep up the good work guys!!!

C
Chiara · November 16, 2025

Not a priority for me, meaning that if you want to focus on something else that's fine, but I agree with those who said that a little animation when they go to and come back from work would be nice. Having them go to the door and then disappear after a few steps outside, and then reappear in front of the house when the work is done, would be enough for me.

T
The Dawn of Vanlife · November 19, 2025

I wouldn't mind them walking to a costume building even if we can't "go in with them". Both Sims 3 and InZoi does this (InZoi mostly with school, but Sims 3 also with a lot of the early rabbithole jobs and some shops) so that you're not really pulled out of the open world even with unenterable buildings. Like having a bussiness building that Paras navigate to and outside of after work will make it feel more like they went to work. I also want travel-time, at least the illusion of it, instead of leaving at 8am for an 8am start to work.

C
Chiara · November 16, 2025

It seems that the shops are always open? I would like if they closed at night and after a certain hour you cannot enter (when you click to go inside you get a message like the error message for the door, "the shop is now closed, come back tomorrow"). Edit: I understand that this would put a limit to the things you can do in town at night time, and probably you want the opposite of that, but right now, maybe also because the shops are all empty with no people, the fact that they're always open gives me a sense of a weird place instead of a lively town

C
Chiara · November 17, 2025

Maybe some shops can remain open 24hrs, as in real life: the cafè, for example, cinemas, there are gyms that are open 24hrs. So you would still have something to do in town at night. But I still think that most of the shops should close at a certain hour. As another commenter said, this would add an element of challenge to the player, they would need to plan their activities.

C
Caspen Black · November 16, 2025

This checks out. The Live Mode development time was short compared to the dev time for Build and the Paramaker. I'm glad because I was worried it would play like TS4, which is to say -- great Build mode, completely unsatisfying Live mode no matter what they've done to try and make it better post-release. It's good to spend time crafting this aspect of the game. I hope more time can be spent on the animations now; that was one thing that seemed the most unfinished to me. I know they take a lot of time to make

L
Lucas Daniel · November 15, 2025

Notes: Hi everyone! Great stream, I loved the progress you're making. I agree with the postponement, it's the best option. And because of that, I'd like to request, if possible, that some animations be further improved. Regarding the cooking animations, for example. Opening and closing drawers, cabinets, picking up utensils in a more realistic way. Part of the magic of TS2 was this richness of detail. Another thing is the paras walking around the city. They appear out of nowhere, which is a bit strange. I understand if this is resolved in the long term, but it's just to point it out. I was wondering about the roof of Jordan's house. Is it there or not? It would be good to see the influence of the lighting system in the enclosed environments. In Maggie's announcement trailer it looked perfect. I think time in the game passes too quickly. It would be nice if the passage of time was a little longer. I also agree with what you said about the conversation system. It's very good, I love the cards. But it really takes a long time, maybe the bar should load a little faster. I hope something like the chemistry system from TS2 in romantic interactions gets implemented. It's an excellent system that adds a challenge to the game and really encourages interaction with other NPCs (P.S.: I loved the animation on the chance of success during a romantic interaction). I also think a system for filling paras for the lot where our para is located would be interesting, something similar to TS4. Suggestion: lastly, I suggest creating a type of place in the city: nightclubs! I think it would be perfect to make the game more dynamic in this first moment and allow interactions with other paras. Thank you for the post! Looking forward to the next chapters.

C
Chiara · November 16, 2025

It still isn't clear to me if you can ignore the Together Cards or not. I mean, you can (you just don't click the "!" icon), but is the conversation "meaningful" this way? (Do you get "relationship points" with that person? Maybe less than using TC?). Because if so, problem solved, you don't have to make your para talk for hours if you don't feel like it

Na verdade, eu me sentia triste por não ter mais o Patreon. Eu assisti a gameplay em live e cheguei a pensar "eles vão conseguir resolver todos esses bugs em menos de um mês?" E então vem a notícia do adiamento. Yes, maybe if they add a lock feature, like in Sims 2, where you can right-click a goal to lock it, making it a long-term objective.

Now that I've watched the live, I'm seriously loving everything I see! From the world coming alive, the NPCs dressed NORMALLY 😭, the together cards, job perks, the want system based off emotions, and the lighting 😍. I wonder if in the future we could scramble a new set of conversation topics if none fit the vibe you're going for. Only issues I see would be to speed up the duration of eating and conversation a bit to get to a topic choice faster. Same with the bathroom lol...that is unless he was doing the #2 🫠. Hopefully the Paras won't act as holograms for long and use doors and pathing systems properly 😂 Amazing showcasing of live mode, thank you!! 💕🌇

Khlas · November 15, 2025

Honestly delaying it to may isn't even enough. You should delay it for more. Simulation of life game are extremely complex. The sims has a full fletched team and most of them already were professional in the genre. You are only a small team. Don't get burnt out in trying to make it that short. People are complaining and will complain about delay, but honestly they will also be the first to complain about an unfinished mess of a game. It's better to disappoint people now than when it's released and too late. I prefer to get a silksong quality-wise with all the delay and time with development than a inZoi unfinished mess with extremely boring gameplay. Do your thing, express your vision, take the time you need.

Since there has been a delay on launch, is there a way to add a "spirited" vibe? Unless one of the vibes has what I'm about to describe. What I mean by spirited is that they love to dance, may lean more into arts and things like that.

A
Aster Lea · November 16, 2025

I think they're still going to be waiting until after the new EA release date to add more things like that. Their main focus now seems to be tackling the current bugs and possibly adding more things to do around the open world, and it wouldn't be a good idea to try to spread their focus too thin in the limited time they've given themselves to fix those specific things. In the mean time, an Energetic vibe with a Visual Arts or Music talent might get close to what you want.

T
Trash Mammal · November 15, 2025

After seeing the lifestream, I see why you decided to postpone the release. This lifestream was probably a big eye opener for you, just as it was for the community. It is obvious that life mode needs a lot of polishing - pathfinding, collisions, getting stuck bugs, even pacing needs to be seriously worked on. I feel that a single action takes a bit too long in game time, if it needs to be sped up in casual gameplay then it's too long. 20 minutes in-game time for a one simple together card chat is a bit too much, isn't it? Also going around that small block or cooking something in a microwave takes definitely too long. I really feel pacing should be adjusted to feel enjoyable and realistic as well. I also feel that together cards are quite limiting at the current state, and interface is a bit too cluttered, it would definitely be better if it was at least collapsible. You guys made a good call to postpone the release and I wish you all the best. I remain hopeful that it will be an awesome game. I'm a patient person, and I wouldn't mind playing it as it is right now, because I just trust you guys that you would be improving it continually. But first impression matters in the realms of game development, and I support your decision, even if my criticism may seem a bit harsh. I hope that you will be doing more Life Mode lifestreams in the future after this upcoming one, so we could see improvements as they are implemented. I don't think we need more Paramaker or Build Mode content at the moment, you already proved that you've got it covered. If I could advise one thing, I would say that releasing a demo showing off just Paramaker could help the hype stay alive for the coming months, so maybe it would be worth considering? I know it would be probably a lot of work taking time out of working on Live Mode, but I think it could do wonders for maintaining trust and ongoing interest. But if you don't do this, I personally won't hold it against you, I know you're a small team doing their best with what you have, and there are tons of other fans that feel similarly. Just remember not everyone is patient and hype tends to die if the fire is not fed. Having said that all, take your time, we will be there to support you. All the best guys!

T
Trash Mammal · November 15, 2025

I hear you. If interactions were shortened, it could be equalised by making each interaction gain less points towards friendship. My point is that when I meet a neighbour and we have a quick chat, it will rather take 10 mins than 20. If I tell a joke, it will be rather 5-10 mins than half an hour, same with telling someone a compliment etc. What I'm thinking is how length of each interaction relates to length of the day, that having even a meaningful meeting with a friend doesn't need to take out from your time to take a shower or eat dinner after a long day at work, etc.

Why does the exterior of the lot (for example, the library) reload when the player visits it? Do you think it would be possible to reload only the interior of the lot when we click for a Parafolk to visit it, while the exterior maintains its high walls, and then after the interior loads and the Parafolk enters the lot, the walls lower and we can see inside the already loaded lot? I mean, before loading the lot, we see the whole thing, and it would be more comfortable for us if it remained that way (since that part is already loaded) while the objects inside load. I wouldn't mind seeing things loading internally through the lot windows. But when the entire lot loads from scratch again, it greatly breaks the game's immersion.

I don't know if it is still WIP but the needs UI is horrid. They do not match each other.

It'd potentially be another hire but I think they really need a UI designer.

I’m going to give my two cents here: I think this time should be used to make the actual “dollhouse” gameplay as polished as possible and I wouldn’t waste that much time on the world, except what concerns the paras pathing. I think that was the original idea and I hope focusing on the world doesn’t take away too much time and resources from the actual “house” gameplay. E.g. I’d much rather have a way to live a full life without leaving my home much (TS1 style), with polished animations, tvs that actually show something, being able to call over other paras, have little get togethers etc. than have events pop up in the cafe every Thursday, I think the latter is a nice addition, but I don’t think its central to a life sim experience - at least for me. Ps: people trying to guilt trip the team into releasing a PAM demo really need to stop.

C
Chiara · November 15, 2025

very VERY random idea for a new "activity" in town (inspired by the empty shops, ha ha! But I hope you do manage to populate them more with NPCs). Every once in a while, perhaps more often with Paras with a certain "mean" vibe, I don't know, along with "Purchase this object" you get the option "STEAL this object", with a (unknown to the player) chance of success or fail. If you succeed, you get the object for free! If you fail, you have to double pay and maybe your "reputation" in town/the relationship with other townies you know suffers (no dramatic consequences).

C
Chiara · November 15, 2025

I wonder if maybe this suggestion is not doable because of rating reason and because you have a more cozy and wholesome vision. If so, I wonder if it will be possible to add it through the modding system.

C
Chiara · November 15, 2025

Right now there's no incentive to subscribe as a "Legend" tier patron, because there's no exclusive reward for them anymore. Maybe you could add a new reward? (I don't know if it's possible, but maybe a discount price upon release, or download the game some days earlier than everybody else, or partecipate in a stream with you after the release, or some exclusive merchandise? bonus tracks from the soundtrack?) Again, just a suggestion. I'm sure people will want to support anyway even without a new reward, but just a "marketing" suggestion :-D

C
Chiara · November 15, 2025

Regarding walls, I remember (correct me if I'm wrong) the Sims offered 3 options: 1) walls always visible, 2) walls that dynamically "disappear" when the character goes near (while others remain visible) and 3) walls always invisible (you see something like a very low wall to mark the limits of the rooms). I remember I preferred to play with the option #3 (maybe it is also less resource consuming). Is that possible on Paralives? If I understood correctly, the video showed you can switch between #1 and #2, but I didn't catch if there's a third view mode.

C
Chiara · November 16, 2025

Nevermind this comment, I have rewatched the video and I see there are 3 options for wall visibility, including the "no walls" one (minute 27:46 in the video)

C
Chiara · November 15, 2025

Also I understand that you chose a house in the old town to place the character near shops, town squares, etc., but the building wasn't the best for the stream in my opinion, with lots of floors and walls blocking the view, and stairs so that it always took him so much time to go from one room to another.

C
Chiara · November 15, 2025

Is it too complicated (or too complicated at the moment) to have some of the NPCs walk by in pairs or in groups? Right now they all walk alone in silence like sleepwalkers. This would make the town more lively. Just a suggestion, not necessarily for the Early Access release.

S
Simmons · November 15, 2025

Tbh I would be perfectly fine if you even pushed it back to December 2026 or hell later. I’ve been here this long, what’s another year? Paralives is a game to us but this is YOUR dream. You want to release something that’s beyond your expectations.

C
Chiara · November 15, 2025

My impression is that the time goes by a bit too quickly, or rather that every action takes up so much time: it took him what, 20 minutes to eat one apple? Can you adjust the speed of time in the settings?

C
Chiara · November 15, 2025

The empty shops look a bit lifeless. Maybe having a NPC behind the register as the business owner, even if they don't really do anything? I haven't rewatched the video, but if I remember correctly the first time the character does exercise in the shop he changes automatically into the "sport" outfit, but this doesn't happen the second time you make him exercise (in the living room): is that a bug?

M
Max · November 15, 2025

I agree the town needs NPCs that aren't just walking around aimlessly. The town square could have Paras having conversations, sitting on benches etc. The shops should have workers. Even if they only stand ehind the register and occasionally talk to NPC customers. They could have a few extra dialogue options, like asking for a discount or talking about how business is going etc. It would also be nice to see some Paras going for a run like we saw in the trailer, or generally Paras appearing in groups. Families going out together etc. I noticed that there weren't kids walking around town either. Kids running around, talking with each other, just more variety in the town being "alive"

C
Cherpar · November 15, 2025

I understand the decision and that it must have been a very tough call. I hope the team is doing ok. While I’m disappointed, it doesn’t really surprise me. While I could see that there were issues in the Lifestream for live mode ( that I am sure you will address), I have a couple of thoughts: - the stream - it often seems like the streams are kept more contained intentionally to allow for own exploration / surprises. Obviously it’s just my opinion but I feel like it’s not putting the best foot forward. - for example, the stream could have been enhanced with group activities like painting or music playing, collecting could have been done, or going to the gym. I understand that you wish to work on polishing and also more activities. My apologies if I had misunderstood but I had thought these things were done eg painting and collecting. - I believe you were considering including ceilings. Having seen the lighting at night, I really feel this is essential so hoping for positive consideration. - was the push up in the store a bug. Please tell me it was! I don’t think I could take it! Saw so much of interest. The town looked great and the foundation seems to be coming along nicely.

Kantu1312 · November 15, 2025

To all the people asking the team to release a demo, I would like to point out that releasing a demo would require months and months of work, work that would be taken away from the live mode, which is the reason they decided to postpone the release until may. I understand the disappointment and the desire to get your hands on the game because the build mode and the paramaker seem really well developed, but please be patient and let the team focus on the live mode, which honestly, really needs it. Sending good vibes to everyone <3

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed in the delay, however I think it was ultimately the right call. I can't complain about the game taking extra time getting polished. I hope improving the pathfinding and improving/adding animations will be a major area of focus. I'm also really hoping that the Para's needs UI is collapsible, or significantly shrunken because it takes up way too much of the screen as is. Overall, the game is looking great and I can't wait to see what you'll have for us come May. Super excited! Sending much love! 🩷

I think focusing on fixing and polishing what is already there is more important than adding more things to do. The things I personally would like to see improved include fixing the routing, fixing the sitting and eating at table animations, seeing an animation for Paras walking to and from work instead of just teleporting back and forth (it doesn't have to be the whole way if that's too much, they could just walk in/out the door of the house or something at least), faster eating of snacks at the fridge, seeing townie Paras interacting with stuff around town instead of just walking (sitting on benches, smelling flowers, eating in restaurants, browsing items in shops, chatting together, etc), being able to buy food and eat it with other Paras together in the restaurants, seeing Paras working in the shops (even just someone standing at the register), and an animation for purchasing items from the register in the shops. I saw someone else mention that shops should have closing times too, and I agree that would make the town feel much more immersive and also add to gameplay as you will need to plan what you want to do around when things are available. When you go to visit somewhere, the option could be greyed out and the shop hours could be shown so you know when to come back. Also, pretty please don't have Paras with no exercise skill and only one physique just randomly drop and do push-ups. And no Para should be doing that in the middle of a flower shop at all. That kind of thing should be restricted to gyms or places with work-out equipment or something. Another issue is that I don't love the UI for needs, wants, and emotions. I had really liked the system shown earlier, where it just told you if your needs were getting low, so you didn't have to clutter the screen with the whole list or else go out of your way to check on them. Having the bars available in the tab to check if you want would be fine, but I don't like it as the main way to be informed about them. Especially since having needs, emotions and wants all tossed in the same tab is a lot. I feel like there should be a simpler, unobtrusive way to see a Para's wants, current emotion, and lower/critical needs without having to have all this clutter constantly on the screen. It also seems like Paras don't get any want on their own anymore, and you have to choose them all yourself? I'm not sure how I feel about that. I'd be willing to try it out, but at the moment the interface for it seems cumbersome, which would make it feel like more of a chore than a feature. I like how the together bar is integrated into the interface, alerts you when it's time to pick an option, and has a quick and obvious button to click that will bring you right to the selection. It fits well and gives you the information you need, when you need it, without having a bunch of other stuff cluttering the screen. For emotions, though, you can't even see them without that specific tab open, and even if it alerted you that you have a choice to make when it's closed, you still have to open the tab to find the thing that you have to click on to then get the option to choose a want. It also seems like you won't be able to see the want at all after you pick one, unless you have all that other stuff on your screen too. I feel that having something like a smaller version of the current emotion's face somewhere (maybe in a corner of the Para's portrait so you can see all your Para's emotions at a glance) could be a reasonable option. Hovering over it could show the breakdown for that emotion like it does when hovering over the card, and clicking on it could bring up all of the cards so you can see them all in more detail. If you have a want choice to make, there can be an exclamation mark next to the little face that you can click on to immediately bring up the list of options, like with the together cards. I'm sure this idea would need some tweaking, but I'd really like something closer to that than the current design. Another thing I'd like to see are different life goals that depend on vibe/talent/social traits. Jordan is Good at Being alone, so the goal for becoming acquainted with 3 people doesn't seem to fit very well. Cooking a meal fits with his Food talent, but for other Paras maybe they would want to order Pizza or order food at a restaurant, or even just eat a home-cooked meal if they live with another Para that has the Food talent. For early access it's fine as a proof-of-concept, but later on I'm not going to want to have to go through the same few starting quests every time I create a new family. Also, it's not clear if these goals are Para specific or household specific. I definitely wouldn't want every Para in a household to all want to do these same exact things. And I don't want collecting to be something forced onto every Para either. I'd rather that stuff be opt-in, rather than presented as a major gameplay goal. Not every Para I play is going to be interested in collecting and donating things, and I don't want a big family to all be having to spend time collecting random things to progress in their life goals, especially if I've already done it before. Anyway, I hope this didn't sound overly negative, there's a lot of stuff I liked too, but I wanted to provide some (hopefully) constructive criticism as I really want this game to succeed. I'm sure many of the things I mentioned are already getting fixed or are still under construction, but I wanted to bring up my thoughts and concerns so you have as much information as you can about how those of us on the outside are seeing and interpreting the game as presented. I'm looking forward to future streams, and please let me know if this a good place for this kind of feedback, or if there is a better place for it!

A
Aster Lea · November 16, 2025

I saw their explanation, but I don't actually understand it. If the tab is closed you can't see them at all, which makes it impossible to tell without some kind of notification, not easier. Seeing varying levels of green bars when it's open doesn't really give easily readable information, either. Seeing the colors of the bars change when they get to a certain point makes them stand out, but so did changing the color of the messages in the old system. I don't see why needing the bars to be constantly visible even when they are not low, so that I even have the possibility to see when they eventually do become low is better than just telling me when they are getting low. Like I said, having them there on the tab is good for if you did want to check, but if you're not getting a notification it means you don't need to worry about them anytime soon, so why do I need that information constantly cluttering the screen? There were three levels of notice, each more obvious than the next, so the idea that people were caught off guard by their needs suddenly getting critically low doesn't make sense to me at all.

Delay is ALWAYS better than a game released uncooked - for everyone. I had been a little concerned that the last months were probably a little rushed. Just from these reports reading between the lines, purely from intuitiveness, this was my concern - it seemed to be coming together a little too quickly?? It'll be a better game for the delay. Hell, I have dozens of early access games on my wishlist, Paralives among them, on Steam waiting to be released. Delay is, of course, very VERY normal - so normal in fact, that I regularly go through my wishlist reordering them by release date, because dates continually change on all my early access games. Having done this for years now, I'd guess that considerably more than half of all early access games slated for release get delayed - considerably MORE than half. Probably more like 3/4 or more. So much in fact, that I'm actually genuinely surprised when an early access game ISN'T delayed. So Paralives is definitely in good company. Paralives will simply move down my date ordered list, just like most of the other games on the list do and have. :-) Unfortunately there are the naive who don't understand the nature of early access games and the naive idiots who will criticise this with their lack of knowledge and stupidity, slamming the game. That also is par for the course, unfortunately. Those of us who are early access gaming veterans will, of course, defend this. It's always stupid to attack game devs when a game is delayed - we should be praising game devs for making these tough decisions and wanting to put out a quality game, but it's a diverse world, right? My only criticism for you, is that delay, for the general public, is much more accepted when it is announced earlier. And you must have known before now that it wouldn't be ready, right? Announcing this close to release, while not abnormal at all, kind of looks bad to the general public, particularly such a "general public" as the exceptionally naive and...generally unintelligent...The sims toxic community - people who will make up a lot of your player base. People have this date in mind and if they aren't like me, with many games on their radar, and are only looking forward to THIS game it must be a little disappointing. Announcing delays early is less of a shock, I guess, softer. I'm sure I'm not telling you anything you don't know better than I do. Anyway, I'm here for the continued development of Paralives, and the plus side is that I was actually bemoaning the future loss of these Paralives reports, which I very much looked forward to each week. So I'm actually delighted about that particular aspect. The continuing of Patreon - Yipee!!! And we'll all look forward to a much more polished game. Weather the storm well, and take it in your stride! As you can see from most of the messages here, you still have most of us supporting you!! Congrats on the video. There were a lot of good stuff in it. I particularly love the newspaper - quite original and so much potential (teaching gameplay, teasing new future developments, ingame announcements - births and deaths and special events, even gossip and other ingame news - great stuff!!) As Koreans would say, and I live in South Korea, "Fighting!!" :-)

I understand the reasoning behind the decision , and I respect that you prioritized quality, but I must say, I wish you guys would have come to this conclusion sooner. The release was so close that most of us were all but sure that things would go smoothly and that the team was confident regarding the state of the game. You stated before that you didn't want to announce a release date or window too early to avoid this exact outcome, so it really surprised me a lot at this point. I'm still excited of course, whether it be december or may. The thing is, I would have hardly minded if you had pushed back the release in september or even october, after all, after years of supporting the project, what difference do a few months make? But as christmas creeped ever closer, I was getting more excited by the day. So I wish this call would have benn made earlier. I do agree with some who have said that perhaps a limited demo of the PAM may be a good idea, if feasible and not to time-consuming to implement before May

Take in consideration that we have been excited abou this gale for a while and that it is a bit disappointing to learn this at this stage though its the best decision. I have to admit that I'm very sad to hear this. I've been going through a bit of a rough time lately, and waiting for Paralives was one thing that was giving me something positive to think about. That being said, after seeing the live mode stream, I think you made the right choice. I personally would have been more than happy to play in that state, but I know a lot of people would not have the tolerance for some of those bugs. As hard as it is, I'd rather the game succeed in the long run, and hopefully this will help make this happen.

Chubuk · November 14, 2025

Hey team, I know you've firmly decided against releasing a Paramaker demo to avoid taking precious time away from polishing the Life Mode. I totally respect that focus. However, I wanted to suggest that releasing a demo might actually be the best move to make up for the release date delay. Games like The Sims 4 and InZOI have shown that a standalone character creator demo can generate massive hype and countless hours of player engagement even before the full game is out. Releasing ours would do a lot to restore player confidence, reassuring everyone that the game not only exists but is already in a great and promising state. Maybe feedback like this and other community requests for a demo could encourage you to reconsider the decision.

S
Sehrys · November 14, 2025

thank you for making the best decision in such a difficult situation <3 as i see it, the alternatives would have been: (1) release the game in a state you are no longer confident in after your most recent playtester feedback, and most likely give players a negative first impression of the live mode, risking them giving up on the game completely (2) ignore playtester feedback outright and put your head in the sand about the state of the live mode, which would lead to the same outcome (3) spend the next weeks in a massive crunch trying to get ready in time, burning out the team and potentially still falling short, all of which would be terrible for morale and the future of the game (4) reschedule the EA with less or no transparency, or delaying it indefinitely, which would be a pretty bad look (5) give up on the game entirely because you hit a scary roadblock. all the people complaining and shouting 'scam' are imagining a magical alternative: (6) somehow improve the live mode a lot, in only three weeks, without pushing the team into burnout. if you thought you could do that, *obviously* you would! deciding on such a big delay is a terrifying decision, especially with how many eyes are on this indie game right now. it is obvious to many of us that you did not make this decision lightly, and we trust you know the capacities and capabilities and needs of the team. i hope you know how to keep yourselves safe from the awful corners of the internet, and that for every hateful voice out there there is someone in your corner rooting for this amazing game with you <3 like many other supporters, i have also taken vacation days for the december release - i will take inspiration from the Paralives team and now instead use those days to work on something positive, maybe i'll volunteer in my community, or craft some handmade presents for my loved ones, or maybe just share a nice drawing on the internet to brighten someone's day <3. small things matter. this cozy life sim game matters. be kind to each other and use your time to create something beautiful.

I can’t say I’m not disappointed, but I’ve been playing video games long enough that a delay isn’t that big of a deal to me, especially if it results in a better game and better player experience. Shoot, these days, so many games either get pushed out unfinished, and remain that way, or devs don’t listen to feedback (or only listen to the good feedback), so in my eyes, I can’t be upset because we need more of this, honestly. And I’ve been supporting this long, a few more months won’t hurt. Thanks for testing your game with more varied testers to ensure better player satisfaction, deciding to work on the game some more, and communicate that to us.

I'm so incredibly sorry to hear this news! I'm trying to imagine how the developers must be feeling - you're probably even more bummed out than the rest of us. It was only three weeks until Early Access! What you showed us in the last stream was truly inspiring. Yes, there were a ton of bugs. But after six years of development and six years of waiting, I was actually happy those bugs were there, because it meant the game itself actually exists! I would have loved to play Paralives even with those bugs because I absolutely adore it. I've been shouting about it to everyone I know. EVERYONE NEEDS TO KNOW ABOUT PARALIVES! Everyone needs to know about the incredible work you have done and are doing! Yes, the bugs were abundant, but I actually FELL IN LOVE with them! I was happily giggling when people in the chat were spamming: MAGGIE! MAGGIE! MAGGIE! MAGGIE AGAIN! MAGGIE HAS APPEARED ONCE MORE! I was celebrating right along with them. MY HONEY MAGGIE WAS ON SCREEN! I'll get to meet her when I play, right? YES! I thoroughly enjoyed the last stream, and I'm equally heartbroken to read about the delay. I totally get why the delay happened. I hope you are all doing well and feel encouraged, not upset, by the necessity of the postponement. I want to play Paralives because it is MY GAMING LOVE! Since 2019, when you started releasing videos on YouTube, people have been catching the amazing vibe you’ve been putting out. When the announcement of Maggie's debut happened- no. when THE SHADOW OF MAGGIE APPEARED, my heart started racing, just like the hearts of all the other viewers and future players. I remember the initial backlash because Maggie was called "clunky" and "ugly." Those people completely missed the point! And I still lovingly rewatch Meggi’s first appearance. Maggie, Maggie, Maggie! And then Sebastian! The very existence of the videos featuring them gave us hope. I'm so grateful for the hard work you are putting into this game. You are doing incredible things! Maybe no one even realizes HOW incredible the things you are creating are yet. I wanted to see Paralives, bugs and all, exactly as it was in the stream. I wanted to play it even knowing there would be nothing much in it. I wanted to buy a license for myself, my dear husband, and my best friend, because you guys deserve the support. Some people wrote that they would only buy the game when it was more "content-filled." Nonsense. This is MY GAME. This is the game for EVERYONE who is on Patreon. EVERYONE who has been following Paralives for six years. It has completely captured my heart, and I think I can no longer be objective about it! It has become family, and I can't tear it away from my heart. Thank you for all your hard work. I understand why you made the decision to delay, and you are absolutely doing the right thing. But I am ready for Paralives as it is right now. I know I’m asking for a lot: I beg you to release at least a DEMO version of the Paramaker and Build Mode. I know it's probably better not to release a demo if you aren't confident in it! But I am ready for any Paralives. I want the characters flying through the air, getting stuck in textures; I want to laugh about it and lovingly await your updates. This won't happen now! But I will patiently wait for the moment you decide the game is ready. Thank you.

Random Boomer · November 14, 2025

Wait, you listened to your players? You actually changed plans based on their feedback? I didn't think that was allowed! Much as I want to get my hands on the Paramaker, I'm very glad you're paying attention to the quality of gameplay. Thanks for all that your team is doing.

DaveLPR · November 14, 2025

I'll be honest - while it's disappointing to have to wait a few more months to play, I was definitely apprehensive after watching the live mode stream on Discord on Tuesday. I was hesitant to publicly criticise it, because I know how incredibly hard it must be to build a game like this from the ground up, but… yeah. It wasn’t just one or two bugs. Between the pathfinding issues, Paras getting stuck, and actions becoming locked, things were looking a bit rough around the edges. So I completely understand the decision to postpone the launch, even considering it was early access and bugs were expected. It makes sense to take the time to polish things properly. On the bright side, the game looks and sounds amazing, even if the gameplay isn't fully worked out yet! The excitement to play it hasn't lessened for me! I remember, back in the day, before the launch of one of The Sims games (I can't remember which one), EA released a free standalone tool so people could try out creating Sims ahead of release. Would something like that be possible for Paralives in December? The Para Maker and build mode seem much more polished than live mode right now, and it would be a great way to keep us entertained until the new launch date :)

M
Max · November 15, 2025

That was the Sims 4, they released a free create-a-sim demo which was a huge success. I played it back then as well. I understand that for such a small team it may be hard to work on such a demo whilst trying to work out the issues with live mode

I have been following Paralives development since 2019. I've seen the amazing work you all have done with Build Mode and Paramaker, and I know we'll see the same quality and innovation in the Live Mode given the time it needs. After all these years of anticipation, I appreciate you all dedicating more time to working on and polishing Live Mode before early release (even though I was secretly planning to not progress the world at all and spend most of my time in Paramaker and Build Mode recreating my favorite families from my forever world in preparation for the full release anyway lol). I am very excited for the year ahead, there so many updates and improvements to look forward to (lifecycle playthru hint hint wink wink lol)! Thank you for your continued transparency and keep up the great work dev team!!

---Uhh, incoming long post / thread. I'm going to leave my criticisms in the replies of this----- Hello! I think the team has made the right call on this one. Though it's a bit disappointing to have to wait a little longer, especially so close to the initial launch date, it's completely understandable to let the game bake a little longer, especially considering the amount of bug fixes needed to make gameplay as smooth as possible, as well as the implementation of certain features, seeing as testers felt that live mode needed more activities. I've been following this game since the initial window scaling video, and it's grown so much. This is a beast of an undertaking, especially from a small indie team. The first title of the franchise comparable to this one took nine years to make, and even then, the company was acquired by a AAA studio six years into development. Though technology has advanced since then, it still doesn't change that a life simulation with complex building, live mode, and a character creator must be incredibly hard to make. If the early access released in its current state, it may not garner the same audience or praise it would if it were released in a more polished state. Six more months without Paralives is not that big a deal. The time will pass anyway. A late game is better than a buggy one.

C
Caldo :3cc · November 14, 2025

Pros: 1) I like the newspaper feature, it makes it feel like your Paras are a part of their world 2) I like the together card system, it feels very organic and it has a lot of potential 3) I like the changing discounts at the stores, kind of makes it feel like the shop owners are generous and it seems like a good way to acquire furniture early game 4) LOVE careers 5) The RPG elements present feel pretty well implemented and it makes the game feel more alive. 6) I love that the wants reset at the end of the day, it makes it feel as if the Paras aren't clinging to old wants without progression.

After seeing the livestream, Im so glad you all decided to delay. It definitely needs a little more time in the oven. There's some great foundation here that I know with a little more time can be made into something amazing. Game development is difficult especially with a life simulator. There are so many facets to life that needs to be captured. Life stages, events, relationships, death and the like. Its why the Sims has dominated and stood alone in the genre for the past two decades - if it was an easy feat, it would have been done already. Take your time devs! I will be there on launch day ready to play!!

I completely understand and honestly i for one am a bit relieved too. I loved what i saw on Tuesday (the together cards system is AMAZING and it was great to see it in action) but i thought even for early access, there was a bit of polish still required and I wasn’t sure if there would be enough time (e.g. the lack of certain animations, particularly when sitting down, was very noticeable). It’s very clear you’re all about the details and want to deliver an amazing experience even for early access so i trust this is the best decision

I have no idea how much work would need to go into something like that, but i think it is something that a lot of us would love to try out and give feedback on! It’s been such a joy to watch this game come to life. Keep up the awesome work!! 😌

It's a shame about the delay, but totally understandable. While watching the broadcast on Tuesday, I thought (Wow, so many bugs!), but then I thought (but the game is in early access, so there's no reason to complain). I want you to know that we are here with you. I feel a lot of dedication and love from you, the developers, in delivering something fantastic, and I'm very proud and happy with everything I've seen so far. I would like to contribute with some suggestions. 1 - When a Para is walking and then goes down or up the stairs, a pause is visible. Could it be made more fluid to seem more human? 2 - When opening the refrigerator or oven, would it be possible for the Para to open it with their hands instead of the object opening by itself? 3 - I felt the Paras walking on the street in a somewhat robotic way. They walk to the middle of the street to be able to turn. I observed several things when I saw the video, but I ended up forgetting them, haha. But don't be upset, it's not criticism, just observations from a fan to the team. Kisses, and you guys are awesome! 🇧🇷🇧🇷

I really appreciate that you guys want to make the best game you can, I was a bit concerned with all the bugs in the last stream, and I'm glad that you guys are dedicating your time to making this the best game you can, even if the launch is just early access. I know many people are disappointed with this decision, but I know that you only have one shot at releasing this game for the first time, and I think it would have let people down far more if they had bought the game and found it difficult to play due to bugs. That's a surefire way to kill engagement. I have been supporting Paralives for 3 years, and I am happy to continue doing so for as long as it takes for the team to get it where you guys need it to be.

While I am as disappointed as anyone, I am glad that the team is taking the time needed to make the release date as great as possible!! Seeing all the bugs in the live mode stream did worry me about how functional the game would be.. I’d rather wait the 6 months and have a usable game than get a broken one in a few weeks!!!!! All the love to the dev team as I’m sure this was a difficult decision! ❤️

Hi everyone! Hope you’re all doing great. I won’t lie — the news made me a bit sad, especially because that day is a holiday here, so it would’ve been the perfect excuse to play all day. But honestly, I really appreciate your transparency. It’s always better to take the time you need than to release something with issues that could cause trouble later on. While I was excited for the release in December, I'm not disappointed that you have delayed the release because I'd much rather wait and have more pleasant first experience of the game. When the last sims game first came out, they didn't even have toddler or pools, and towards a loyal fan, it felt disrespectful. This, the delay, is respectful. Yes, it's not a lot of notice BUT you are responding to feedback. You will get people who unsubscribe, thrash-talk, people who choose to view this in a negative light. Please do not listen to them or let them discourage you. You're doing good work, keep going and keep your head up. May will be here sooner than we know.

I responded on FB earlier which I came across first and pasting here too, and my sentiments remain the same. ❤️ Hello Alex, I'm glad you and the team expanded play testing Paralives before releasing for EA, and in return delayed EA based on feedback from the players who participated. This is a good thing and a very important step to ensure QA, which should always be key to a game's true success. Thank you and your team for making the hard decision to work on game content more extensively to be tested as well, and not just game mechanics before releasing for EA, and letting us know. The Paralives team continues to be transparent in all they do which shows integrity in their commitment to the development of Paralives and to us, the players. I'll continue to support your dream team as long as allowed, and I look forward to continuing the highly creative Paralives journey to EA and final game release. ✨️

I honestly feel like you guy’s are doing a amazing job, but please don’t feel like you have to make the most “ perfect “ high standard game to please everyone, because even if you make do make the most perfect game there will always be people no matter what bicker and complain because they don’t understand how hard it is to develop a game especially a life sim game. I been a huge fan since 2019 of you guy’s and I’m confident that you guys pushed back the date to focus on live-mode I honestly didn’t see any issues with live-mode except the bugs but I felt those could easily be fixed in no time, I am very excited to play paralives in may and will always be a supporter no matter what. but don’t allow people to peer pressure you guys into doing this, that, this just because they want the game to be “ perfect “ no game is perfect, every game have bugs, and most of all I wish people would stop trying to make paralives out to be a “ sims copy “ when that’s not what paralives is. I’m so glad you guy’s will now be doing livestreams for us to follow development I can’t wait to tune in and watch all those livestreams as this will keep me occupied until paralives come out so I’m very excited about this new approach 🥰good luck you guys.

some thoughts on the livestream now: LOVE the newspaper! the pathfinding definitely needs to be worked on, and it seems like things get a little bugged when everything's sped-up? it would be nice if when you're talking to someone it showed their relationship label. i feel like there isn't enough incentive (or any really) to select wants, it should just give you one by default if you don't pick one in time. Also, it'd be great to get the camera to follow the Para not just focus :)

I'm sad but honestly when I watched the Tuesday livestream I was kinda not into the whole Paras clipping into stuff. It was REALLY distracting and gave me a negative feeling that it's gonna make players think the game is *too barebones to play on Dec 8. So I'm sort of glad y'all chose the "let's put a bit more polish and content" into the Early Access because indeed first impressions do matter a LOT. I'm still gonna keep supporting the game because I really do see something unique and special about it(also I love supporting human made art and I think this game is a work of art and could develop into something beautiful), and I hope the Early Access is a success! Also can't wait for the YouTube livestream (Discord is really bad if you have internet connection problems, YouTube is better at livestreaming stuff)!

YourCheezyPatron · November 14, 2025

I am disappointed but also glad the team is taking time to make improvements. I know splitting resources to package a demo will pull time and development away from improving live mode, but based on the consensus in the comments it does sound like a slightly buggier early access release in May 2025 may be worth it if it means retaining people's interest and consumer confidence with a Dec 2025 Paramaker demo (and/or build mode demo). Not sure how the legality/numbers of this would work but perhaps you could get a volunteer within the industry (with a boatload of NDAs lol) to help package the demo? Not sure if you already have a legal team onboarded to support that or not since I know the development team is quite lean. In any case, I'm sure you'll try to make the best decision for your team and for your product. I'll still be here with my monthly contribution and will look out for more updates, but I do strongly recommend considering the multiple requests for a Steam demo to tide folks over in the meantime. (who knows, you might get more supporters on Patreon out of it!)

While obviously the delay is a bit of a bummer, I can definitely understand why you’re pushing it back. So excited to get my hands on it in May!! Some initial thoughts/comments specifically from the livestream: 1. I think it would be nice if eventually there’s a Para at the register in the stores. They wouldn’t have to do much besides stand there and wave at the para when they come in, and it makes the shop feel more alive. 2. I think the shops should be closed by a certain time! I feel like you shouldn’t be able to go buy furniture at 2:00 AM 😅. 3. In some other games (e.g. Wylde Flowers) shops are closed on certain days. That might be a bit of a fun feature. 3. I think it would be nice if the paras had some sort of wave animation when they first start talking! 4. I think it would be nice if the paras were a little bit more emotive when they’re feeling a certain way — I think the animations are a little subtle and are harder to pick up on from a distance. 5. Love the morning newspaper feature!!! 6. I think that eventually for the “Go to Work” interaction, maybe we see the para get in a car and drive away. Or maybe we see them walk through the front door of their work building. Same goes for when they leave work. 7. Not sure if this is planned, but — part time jobs?? 8. I think eventually some pop-up interactions at while they’re at work would be fun! Also, a totally random idea that would obviously be beyond the early access release: events in the town square! On certain occasions/holidays, the town square gets dressed up and there are new activities and things to see/do. I’m thinking Christmas market, farmer’s market on Sundays, the possibilities are endless and I think it would be SUPER fun. I think for the public livestream, it would be good to show a little bit more variety as to what the game currently looks like. Maybe have them go to work on one day, but then the next have them go exploring/doing something else. Or maybe you could have more than one para in the household, where one goes to work and one doesn’t? Just some thoughts!! Thanks guys 😁😁

Oddface · November 14, 2025

I’m honestly glad you decided to delay. Going by the live mode stream, there are just too many bugs and general jank right now to make a decent first impression, even if the game has a lot going for it. Encountering a bug here and there is fine, but seeing them constantly will wear players down quickly, and the early-access label won’t change that. You made the right call. Best of luck polishing up the game!

sophia sim · November 14, 2025

this is 100% the best thing for the game. it is the quality of the finished product that matters, not rushing out a release to satisfy fans. i think of a game like stardew valley, created by one indie developer over the course of 12 years - and now 10 years later it has sold 40 million copies! a polished finished product will get you farther in the long run. and considering the biggest life sim on the market right now is consistently sloppy, rushed and overpriced, i think that care and attention to detail is going to set you apart. take all the time you need.

My father passed on Aug. 31st and not to sound dramatic or anything but after following for the past six years and joining the patreon earlier this year. I felt like I had something exciting to look forward to before the depression of the holidays hit harder than normal this year. I don't think you could have given me worst news.

A
Alex Massé · November 14, 2025

ezurah ya · November 14, 2025

If the game was realesed in december all the sales would have fix the issues and maybe they could have expanded the team.. 6 more months with the same small team...?

A
Alex Massé · November 14, 2025

We don't want people to be disappointed at launch because they won't come back to the game afterwards, even if we improve it. That's why we took the difficult decision to delay. We are confident to be able to reach a good quality level in the next coming months as most of the game is done but needs more polish

Big hug to the whole team. I can’t imagine how hard it must’ve been to make this decision, and how sad/disappointed you all might feel right now. We have been waiting for year, what’s a few extra months? Take the time to make this game as good as you think it deserves, I’m sure we will have lots of fun when time comes. Take care, treat yourself with some well-deserved cake, you all did great and I know you’ll keep working hard to deliver the best results in the end ‹𝟹

When I watched the livestream, I was impressed with the gameplay but was concerned about the bugs, so I'm glad you're giving yourselves more time. There's a lot of eyes on Paralives, so it really is important to make a good first impression - people tend to be quite tough on Early Access games.

A
Alex Massé · November 14, 2025

Agreed. We've already fixed the most of the bugs seen in the last livestream and we're hard at work on fixing other bugs and improving the live mode as a whole

E
Evelina Bexell · November 14, 2025

I watched the livestream. Honestly, you're making the right decision. It looks promising, but there were so many bugs interrupting the gameplay. This game really needs to be enjoyable from start, because the life sim players aren't forgiving. Many also lack computer literacy, making it difficult to find workarounds. I personally feel lucky that I'm able to support the game a little bit longer. Excited to see more livestreams. Big hugs to you guys. You're doing great. It might be a good idea to give more development updates for non-paterons as well. The YouTube livestream is a great idea. Maybe continuously highlight what part of the roadmap you're focusing on right now, without showing details. Uncertainty easily evolves into disappointment.

T
The Dawn of Vanlife · November 14, 2025

This, after this delay I'm expecting those outside the Patreon wall to go back to calling the game a scam and may reduce faith in the May date, which could still ruin the release quite a bit. Them seeing more development public might help.

Unfortunately, we will keep working with paid playtesters only for now. The reason is that we can't give access to the game to Patrons before the release because Steam has a rule that prevents us from giving access to the game to people who have paid devs outside of Steam (like through Patreon)

I understand, I'm really sorry about the delay but we really feel that the extra time will allow more people to be happy with the state of the game at launch which will benefit the game in the long run. C
Chloette · November 14, 2025

I’m not mad that the game was delayed, but it does seem like a pretty long delay, almost 6 months, for a game that was supposed to be nearly ready for Early Access. If the game was delayed to, let’s say, February, I think people would be a bit more understanding. In any case I will be happy to play a more polished version of the game when ready

A
Alex Massé · November 14, 2025

Thank you! We want to make sure we have time to polish the live mode and validate with playtesters monthly that the game is improving and adjust accordingly so that we have the best launch possible in May

y
yaya Sou · November 14, 2025

As ppl have suggested a little demo of maybe the PAM just to reassure ppl while they wait, I think would be nice since May is quite far away (whether that's a good idea or not I'm iffy abt, lol) I do imagine this announcement is going to get alot of backlash since it felt like the game was *right* there for many ppl, which is going to be... smth for sure😅 i really respect this decision though. I just hope this will be the last delay, bc while i agree that delaying instead of publishing a half-baked game is better, it's still not a good look not very promising and not great for morale, some of us have been waiting since 2019, ppl might lose interest, ykn etc. etc. constant delays really kill a game I'm sure it'll work out in the end though, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (bc i believe in the product) I didn't like the December date to begin with anyway.. I can't remember why😅 but for some reason it didn't work for me. I'll try to recall whatever issue i had at the time, lol and question: are you going to implement the "Town events" that was according to the roadmap planned for *after* EA because it was mentioned in the announcement that you wanted "more activities in the town"?

A
Alex Massé · November 14, 2025

Thank you! A demo would be great. A
Alexsandro Gnovatto · November 14, 2025

It's okay for people to be disappointed. But we have to be aware that it's a small team doing what it can with what it has available. Just "wanting to release the game soon" doesn't automatically make it playable. And it's much better for the game to be delayed than to release it in its current state with performance issues. We have games that were extremely criticized because they were released like that and were unplayable at launch (hi Cyberpunk 2077). While some people understand that a game in Early Access has problems and accept playing it without any problem, the general public doesn't understand this and would criticize the game if it were released now. Being in Early Access means having fewer features than the final version, but whatever is released must at least be playable and have sufficient content (and the team is aware of this). It's not like the team wants to release just anything to get paid first, because we know the deep dedication of this team; those who have followed them for a while know the miracles they perform on the game even though they are such a small team. I know it's nerve-wracking, I was looking forward to playing on the 8th, but it's the best thing for the game.

A
Alex Massé · November 14, 2025

Thank you for understanding and for the support! This is exactly what we thought when making this hard decision!

m
mazyfly · November 14, 2025

There's been so many eyes on you all recently with everything, so much excitement and pressure, lots of comparisons that even if aren't in bad spirit, does make people come into Paralives expecting a lot more than you can currently offer. I'm glad you decided to do what's best for you, and I think it'll pay off in the long run :)) why did you decide on May 25th specifically? I have another question, does this mean, for Andrei, he'll continue working on new sounds or features (like the pitch slider) you were intially going to have to do in EA?

A
Alex Massé · November 14, 2025

Thank you!! We decided on May 25 because we estimated that we can fix the current issues in 4-5 months. Also, we wanted to launch before June because there are a lot of game announcements in June every year and we prefer to release before that so that the press have time to cover our release Andrei will keep on working on improving live mode sounds, yes! The pitch slider is still considered but it's more of a feature that can be done by a programmer and they are all focusing on improving core live mode features right now so the pitch slider will probably have to wait a bit

Ufff considering how hard of a post this is to read, I’m sure it’s x100 times harder to write it and share with us. As disappointing as the news are so close to the date, I do think that it’s 100% the right decision. I’ll be honest, this last livestream was the first time that I saw something in the game that left me uncertain of how enjoyable it would be. As exciting as it is to see new gameplay and new town details for the first time, I did keep thinking how it will annoy me the details like the blocked characters and the walls from the shops after we entered them, it would take me off from the whole experience… So I feel like this hard call had to be done, and the game will only be benefited by it! I think that one of the hardest things now is that we will be too eager to learn and discover more of the game in the next 6 months, whilst I know you still want to keep the *secrets* for the release. So I hope the next posts and livestreams will still give us valuable intel into the game to keep us going during the wait 🥹 Also, I saw a suggestion of a paramaker or build mode demos for patreons in the meanwhile, and to be honest, this made total sense. If there’s a way for you to make this happen, I think it would be a perfect Xmas gift and will make the community thrilled to be able to explore this part of the game which is “complete for early access” 👏🫶

I’m not disappointed just disheartened but I couldn’t even imagine how difficult making a game is as a small indie company and I fully support your decision and will continue to do so until you decide to release the game, but can I recommend at least giving us a demo/paramaker only for December 8th? It did feel unfair to release a game in early access at what other games would consider full price when you had been open with the fact that it would be buggy. I would have rather you not announced a release date, and maybe had a closed beta for people that paid to be here. It feels unfair that only people who can afford it every month get a character in the game and/or a pet. Wouldn't we be the best early access audience? I'm not 100% sure how many of us there are, but it's incredibly disappointing that we don't get first dibs on access. Would you consider that in the future?

I’ll be honest. The delay is disappointing. We’ve been waiting for so long, and with the early access release originally less than a month away, I was really excited to finally get my hands on the game. Now, with the new release date being several months out, it’s a bit tough, especially since its not just one or two months but half a year... At the same time, I completely understand. After seeing last week’s post about all the work that goes into creating even the smallest sounds, it really made me realize just how much effort is happening behind the scenes, things I never even considered before. Thank you so much for your transparency - I know this must have been such a difficult post to write. As someone who has played many games in early access, there have definitely been some that I played only a few hours for and then dropped because there wasn't much there at the start. Making the choice to delay to ensure your players have a foundational and fleshed out base to add onto and to edit/improve into EA is the correct call. I would rather have something to explore and dive into for hours on end while waiting for updates than dropping only after a few play sessions until the next update arrives. You all have done so much already and I cannot wait to see how more time will allow you all to continue the development of the game. <3

This is such odd timing after just releasing that "what to expect in early access is, to me, it's almost like they're trying to release a full game when that's not what early access is. Now I'm just worried that if they can't get it up to their high standards, they'll cancel the game totally, even after all the money everyone's put in it.

A
Alex Massé · November 14, 2025

We see the end and we're confident that we will reach the desired level of quality by May. Even if it's Early Access, we learned that people have a lot of expectations and if people are disappointed at launch, they won't play Paralives again later, even after new updates

I dont know if this would create a lot of complications and would completely understand if it’s not possible of course. Just throwing it out there in case it’s a good idea, thanks for all the great work guys, really looking forward to May!

A
Alex Massé · November 14, 2025

Thank you Clara!! Unfortunately, Steam has a rule that prevents us from giving access to the game to people who pay outside of Steam. We have thought about a demo but for now, we prefer to focus on improving the state of the game because preparing and packing a demo takes time

M
Mel Bender · November 14, 2025

Id like to see the paras be more autonomous! I don’t want to direct them to do every little thing. They should be able to get themselves up for work and decide to go somewhere etc

A
Alex Massé · November 14, 2025

We already have a working autonomy system that does that! We are improving everything still though

S
Sarah · November 14, 2025

Can't say I'm not disappointed, but I have always thought that 2025 was too early, even if it was scheduled for December. Personally, I'm curious on what the worst bugs were, just because I love seeing when you post bugs and glitches :)

A
Alex Massé · November 14, 2025

You can see the kind of bugs we have in the video above and we'll also do a public stream on November 25 to show gameplay again and explain what we are improving for release :)

N
Noeba · November 14, 2025

It makes sense, I did feel like they spent a lot more time on build mode and paramaker (which both look great) than live mode but live mode is the most important to me so I am glad they will now really work on this. I am of course very sad but time flies by so quickly anyway and I wasn't sure if I'd have much time to play it in December plus I may need a new laptop... but I am excited for the upcoming streams! Sending love as I am sure delivering this news is devastating for the devs xxx

A
Alex Massé · November 14, 2025

Thank you!

N
N3pharious · November 14, 2025

I think you guys should release just a paramaker demo in the meantime if no one is complaining about crazy bugs for those you could do that. Could also give CC modders time to play around with it and start working on things.

A
Alex Massé · November 14, 2025

A demo would be really nice. For now, however, it isn't planned. Preparing and packing a demo takes times and right now, we're focused on improving the live mode

C
Cassity Simmer · November 14, 2025

Honestly this is extremely disappointing. You guys should have found a way to release SOMETHING . Even If it was JUST the paramaker or just build mode ANYTHING at all. It’s not just the fact that we’ve been waiting sooo long it’s that yall had not only a release date but a follow up video CONFIRMING that it will still release just last week.

E
Emily · November 14, 2025

Don’t be rude, you’re giving off sims player energy, they’ve spent years of their life developing this game trying to make it the best it can be for OUR enjoyment, if they don’t want to release it yet that’s up to them, they don’t want to release it because they care about the players and want them to have the best experience possible, these aren’t just game developers, they’re a small team of people trying their best to make a game we will like and if they say they’re not happy with it then we will happily wait, if you want rushed bug filled rubbish go play sims or have some patience and respect for these people who are dedicating their time to make something nice for us to play

L
Lucas Medeiros · November 14, 2025

People will get mad at this but they would be more mad if the game isn’t up to their expectations.

A
Alex Massé · November 14, 2025

Thank you Lucas, that's what made us take this hard decision

A
Adassa · November 14, 2025

I'm so sad and sorry to hear this. Thank you to everyone for their hard work! I took off the day to fully dive into the game. Can I just have access to the build mode? 👏 ( I just need a tiny, tiny hit 🤧)

A
Alex Massé · November 14, 2025

I'm sorry you took the day off and now it's delayed! We're hard at work improving the live mode to make the May release as good as possible!

M
Madeleine · November 14, 2025

A last minute five months delay is pretty disappointing. I appreciate you all wanting to put a solid product out, but I hope this is the last delay. I saw someone suggest the release of a paramaker demo which I think would be a great “in the mean time” option.

A
Alex Massé · November 14, 2025

We're hard at work and confident for the May release. A demo would be nice. However, preparing and packing a demo takes times and right now, we're focused on improving the live mode

M
MG · November 14, 2025

Unfortunate that this decision is being made so late in the process, particularly with the team having definitively set the EA release date - but that’s the reality of game development, especially because we’re seeing behind the curtain. My December holiday will look quite different now, but hoping the team achieves enough over the next several months to avoid further delays. I worry about the PR of this situation and how the player base might react. Wishing you all luck!

A
Alex Massé · November 14, 2025

Thank you MG. It was a very hard decision to make

I'm sure you guys are sad to bring such news. Of course I'm sad as well & couldn't wait. But as we said for years we better wait for a great game to release instead of having an early release where we cannot enjoy the experience. Take your time & have a relaxing weekend. One thing to be happy about: We can enjoy more Patreon Posts <3 All the best!!!

It is a little disappointing, but after the live mode livestream it felt like there were still quite some bugs in there and stuff that needed to be polished. I understand your decision to delay the EA release and thank you for the transparency on this matter and hope you guys can use this extra time to get the game where you want it to be.

A
Alex Massé · November 14, 2025

Thank you Sara! We've already fixed many of the bugs in the stream and we'll fix many more as well as adding content to the live mode

N
Nina · November 14, 2025

Echoing other people to say I'm not surprised at the announcement (though... the timing is pretty weird, given you *just* published that "what is early access" trailer and everything). Makes total sense to delay launch and make a much better first impression.

A

I know, the timing is bad, it was a very hard decision that we made after the most recent playtests

Thank you so much for sharing this with us and for explaining! I, for one, am relieved, because I'm really busy this December and I want to have maximum time to enjoy Paralives! May is much better for me personally, and I just know you had that in mind when you made the decision ;) I'm so amazed at how much you all have accomplished as such a small, dedicated team. We've been so lucky to be included in this journey with you. I'm grateful for your hard work and the care you put into this game, and I trust your judgment as developers! From the start it's been clear you want to release a game that you're happy with and that players will enjoy. December is definitely sneaking up fast, and I think it's great that you're giving yourselves some more time to have a smooth and successful release. Sending lots of love and excitement! Looking forward to all the updates along the way <3

L
Llunanova 72 · November 14, 2025

A

M
MissStay · November 14, 2025

I'm going to be honest, I'm disappointed. I've been waiting since 2019 and was really looking forward to it. On top of that, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth because we've seen this happen far too often with other games in recent years. I've set aside time for it, and it's annoying that it's been postponed at such short notice. But there's nothing we can do about it, and time is important. We have no choice but to wait another 6 months. Even though I might not be able to play the game because my birthday is the day before.

A
Alex Massé · November 14, 2025

I understand the disappointment, I'm really sorry about that. We had to make that difficult decision to ensure the game has a good launch

V
Vash T · November 14, 2025

Honestly, based on all the Dev chats I was worried it would lack gameplay and be poorly labeled upon release. I love what you guys are doing and I also want it to get a great reception so I am sad we won’t get our hands on it but excited for a more polished release for you! Thanks for doing the tough but right thing!

A

P
Pedro Lima · November 14, 2025

I kinda saw that coming, to be honest. I was very excited because Paralives was supposed be like a birthday gift for me, on my 30th birthday no less. I'm a little too sad at the moment to say the whole "take your time" bit, but I'm sure it was a difficult decision to make. Please don't be another Life By You. 😞

It was a very difficult decision, yes, thank you for understanding and happy birthday in advance!

After playing a lot of games/DLC that very clearly were pushed to release before they were ready, I think this is a good call. I'm sad to wait even longer, but hey, I've been waiting 6 years, an extra 6 months won't kill me😂 Thank you for your hard work that you've all put into this game, I'm excited to see what it becomes by May!💜💜

M
Mauro Fantin · November 14, 2025

Sad, but not unexpected. I'll be honest, I was a bit skeptical of the original early access release date, given what had been shown up to that point. I'll be looking forward to the release on May, and will be happy to keep supporting the patreon until then, although I imagine some people will be disappointed. As a hobbyist game dev myself, I understand how hard game development can be, so I completely understand the need for more time. Good luck, team!
