Bonus video! What makes Frasier so gay?

In researching James Burrows' work for the recent video, I kept coming across little tidbits of his connection to Frasier -- first as the co-creator of the show where the character Frasier spawned, and then as the director of the spinoff pilot and any of the subsequent episodes.

Several years ago, I did a series of videos about the many gay aspects of Frasier, but it's been a long time since I talked about the show, so for this week's bonus video I wanted to bring together some of the highlights of those older videos with some "best of" highlights. Here's a roundup of some reasons that Frasier read as gay (both the show and the character), and how that reading evolved over the show's decade-plus run. And if you'd like to see more, check out my full Frasier videos from 2018 and 2019 (have I really been talking about Frasier for that long?!?!)

Plus! I have a new video about Dolly Parton's importance to the gay community: https://youtu.be/SpURPplcFhs

Somehow I do think Tim Curry did escape to space. He can go anywhere he wants to now.

‘The Doctor is Out’ is actually one of my favorite episodes of the entire series run. It was one of a handful of episodes that had me in tears laughing during that final season, including, ‘High Holidays’, ‘Caught in the Act’, and ‘Boo!’.

I'm not aware of any other sitcom that has a Renata Tebaldi reference

The way John Mohoney enunciated 'Renata Tebaldi' is never far from my mind. That and "the scary hippopotamus"
