Release Schedules for the April Build
Hey! I'll keep this short.
As I'm writing this, even I don't know in what state this build should release. At the moment the dialogue after entering the city has some placeholder dialogue lines to make it easy to test the logic flow.
Given that the slavery intro cutscene and a few alternate intro dialogues still needs some work, it's very possible this update will only contain the motel content dialogue and the animation (excluding a lot of dialogue for starting the "enter the city" quest)
This is probably the best for now and it's related to what I talked about on Friday. I may be trying to do too much in one monthly update, as in: make new art, add the art to the game, animate new scenes and add them, add a lot of dialogues, fix bugs, work on new cutscenes, all of this in one update.
This kind of work requires 💯% focus for each of those tasks at one time, but because they work together that means each gets divided focus which probably isn't very good.
That's why I believe in order to make sure the city's first content is accessible and no bugs shall impede accessing the motel animation (which is accessible based on a choice), I should just add the dialogue I've written for the motel and its animation. After that and the build is released, I should continue using placeholders to develop the logic flow all the way to entering the night club, using placeholders.
This way the work that comes after is more "plug and play", because I'll only need to make cutscenes, then replace placeholders with actual dialogues that use those cutscenes, and any animations that may be relevant and won't have to worry much about modifying quest data and a lot of stuff at once.
I hope this will work out and it'll pay off in time for the May build.
In conclusion I aim to release this update tomorrow or on Wednesday, but I'll aim for tomorrow (29th of March)
Thank you and I wish you a pleasant week!
