Order in Disorder
Hello! As it's been the norm during the past few years, the world around us is filled with chaos and unpredictability. I've learnt to appreciate stability, which also includes working at my PC, without worrying (or trying not to at least) about things that are outside of my control.
That's why I've been, and I will continue to be, focused on our game.
I have completed all my tasks for this week, even though they were a bit ambiguous:
Release a hotfix that includes nothing other than a potential fix for a teleportation bug that, surprise, only happens on German devices. ✅ Released a hotfix on Wednesday, the name of the archive stayed the same although I'm not sure if that'll confuse players and I should find a way to name hotfix/bugfix releases differently in a consistent way.
Make a public release this week. ✅ Publishing the public build post right after this post. I tested it myself and it seems fine.
Start working on dialogues and flow to the City. ✅ I believe I have written some pretty good dialogues for the entire line of events that happens after finishing the Tick Tock quest to getting to the city itself, where I plan on presenting a dark aspect of it pretty early and introduce more alien characters.
Now I'm working on art for the alien characters and on the ingame cutscenes/sequences. There'll be a branch early in the City, one that leads to a scene and one that doesn't lead to a scene, so I'll also have to figure out what the pose and perspective for this scene should be like, it'll be an animation.
There has also been more work on Gaia buildings, added a homeless camp, did more work on the Gaia Bar and the night club, included a motel room, etc.
The City/the Hub content will be pretty challenging to get right, but I'll try my best. Additionally, I'm also drafting some plans I'm not executing yet on making the ISA intro a bit better overall with some changes to the earliest available scenes (such as the treadmill), because player retention early into the game is very important.
I wish you all a wonderful weekend and I hope the next week will be very productive for our game!
