Monday Struggle
Hey! This week I need to make releases with the newest content, but it's been two months since I did this last time so I hope I'll not miss anything.
Related to what I spoke about on Friday, even though I got a lot done, there's a lot of stuff left to do. Realistically, I didn't expect to actually finish the boss battle system, art, etc so quickly so I never expected releasing the entire scheduled Part 4 in one update, but at this point I think that's likely to happen.
After I posted the Friday status report, I started writing the final dialogue for the back to the ship quest, explaining why and how it's time for us to consider going to the City. Writing that dialogue really exhausted me, because I unfortunately ended up writing about 2500-3000 words just for that. However, I think the dialogue is good and there are some funny moments, it also explains things well enough so it doesn't feel "off" that we just came back from the Village and now we go to the City after dealing with the water situation.
With that said, there's something I still have yet to do that needs to be done for the back to the ship sequence to feel finished, which is…
Add a few dialogues with Alberto in the vents sequence, giving some choices as well that can affect the relationship with him positively or negatively. The dialogues shouldn't feel long, maybe 5 minutes of gameplay with 3 minutes for the minigames themselves.
Add the hacking minigame in-between those dialogues, maybe there's a time limit in which you can finish the minigame and if you don't he'll take over, but if you do he'll be impressed which can increase the friendship level?
Test the flow between being back at the ship and starting the quest to enter the city, adding expressions where they're missing, any typos or grammar mistakes, etc.
Most likely what I should do to minimize the chances of issues is to work on the above bullet points, compile the release builds, release them, and then continue working on the city content, including planning and intro dialogues & gameplay.
I hope everything will be done as planned. I wish you a pleasant week until then!
