Ice Cold❄️
I've received some feedback that the last post had a good teaser, I also thought so at the time so I'll try to take random screenshots of the background of future scenes.
I've been catching up on any bug reports created this weekend and this might be my list of tasks for this week:
Finish the two animations that have been in progress since last week. (ambitious task)
Once the above is done, resume writing dialogues that involve the previously mentioned scenes. (top priority is finishing the animations, so this might or might not be done this week)
Fix a bug on some android devices where a timeline/cutscene whose playback speed is changed gets frozen, this doesn't happen on Windows and that's why in order to do this I need to figure out again why saving/loading isn't working on Android anymore on my device(s), it used to work in the past. Since it doesn't happen on my PC, but it happens in a reproducible manner on at least one android device, it means it's something that requires me to debug the game on Android directly.
If an animation has below 60FPS, the dynamic hair bones, chest bones, etc. can get a bit messy (at least the hair bones because there are many of them). This seems to happen on an older Android device and I'm not completely sure I can optimize this completely as during an animation there's a lot of geometry computation going on and unless there's something from my own scripts that's causing the lag (unlikely), I might need to do some optimizations.
Based on my experience so far, even if a bug only affects a subset of players sometimes once I figure that out it's a wonder it worked on other platforms, so the performance optimization and bugfixing may benefit the experience for everyone and not just for the people who are impacted.
Unfortunately I have to handle this alone and it's only unfortunate because it means I need to ask for a bit of your patience as I "diagnose" the issues before I can start working on a fix for them, but I've gotten into the habit of releasing a hotfix every Friday if there are open bugs.
Other than that, this Friday might be very busy for me and I may not even be at home for most of the day so I might not be able to post something relating my progress for this week, which means the next status update will be on Monday and during that week I should also be releasing the December build.
That's it for now, thanks a lot and have a great week.
