Malevolent Planet 2D - The Council
Hello! I have updated the existing Patron builds with the latest updates from June on the same links, however, I have kept the May builds in the itch links as well.
Due to the engine update, renderer engine update, graphics API changes, etc. some things may be a bit broken so I need to gather bug reports and fix things that could break things that were working fine in the May build.
It's also possible nothing is broken, because nothing seemed to be broken as per my own testing, but it's better to be safe.
Now regarding the bulletpoints:
Include 1-2 new static scenes so we're not missing any art content. ✅
Animate the xray alien scene. ⌛ Need to review a few animation clips from it, but it's most likely almost done.
Write the plot that provides context for the xray alien scene. ⌛
Write all the dialogue up to the point you can start the mission on your ship that would lead you to the village. ✅ I wrote some content for the intro to the village, providing context for a new scene. I'm on a roll right now so I believe writing for the July update will go much smoother than it did for June.
Although I couldn't manage to get everything I wanted for the June release in, I believe we're at a great point to move forward with more improvements to how new maps will look using lighting, we'll also have more lively places due to the development of a new system that can define presets for NPCs so I don't spend a lot of time for every new NPC I need to add to the game, etc.
I'm also working in advance for the art content, designing new locations, etc. so assuming I'll get the AC working for the rest of the summer we'll be moving ahead quicker 🚄
The village is a standalone area that will provide plenty of content, it's not an explorable map so we won't be stuck here. After the village we'll have the Hub/the City where the level designs will shine more using the lighting engine, hopefully providing a more Mass Effect-like feeling over the levels.
Thank you for your support and I apologize for not having managed to include everything I had planned, but I'm confident it was the right choice because something rushed will never be good, as per Shigeru Miyamoto.
