Malevolent Planet 2D - April Release Week
Hey! This is the last week of April, or at least the last one that ends without going into May. That's why, this week will be a release week. Here's my list:
Bugs:
The Simulation Room had a bug that was introduced recently (after the latest release, but during the development month) that could put a stop to players' playthrough. I think I fixed it today, but I need to do more testing.
The Skip Mode doesn't yet allow you to skip ahead to further content, allowing you to pick choices on the way and start at a specific point in the game according to your will. If I have time, I'll finish developing this for this week.
Due to introducing the new expression system, the old way of doing expressions doesn't apply to the avatars anymore so the ISA dialogues might not have any expressions. I'll try to find time to go dialogue line by dialogue line and readd the expressions using the new system.
The game still doesn't have enough sounds. This isn't a bug per-se but I realized that sounds can play a big role in a game's feeling so I hope to have enough time to take care of this. If we manage to get all the music and so on added in, in the near-future we can also have sounds that play during animations and dialogues (not voiced dialogue lines, but sighs, surprise sounds, and so on)
Content:
I'm working on a shower animation whose context is a possible containment breach on the ship, it's supposed to be accessible right after the April content.
I need to add the new Melissa scenes to the dialogue flow back at the Waterfall.
I'm working on a new shower scene (that's also supposed to be animated) that will play on the ship but it might also replace the ISA one if people consider it looks better.
Art:
I've been working on improving the game's artstyle a bit, basically making it look a bit more polished in the shower scenes I'm working on and also in future upcoming scenes.
Release(s):
I'd like to release new Patron builds by 26th April (Friday this week).
I'd also like to make a public release around the end of the week.
As you can see I'm facing a slightly difficult week, already today I've been working the entire morning on fixing very unique bugs, two of them that could impact players from progressing past ISA content.
Overall I'd say there's plenty of progress on bugfixing/polishing in general and the game is most likely more stable than ever, but I'd like to get to a point by the end of the next month where the game feels stable enough to actually introduce turn based mechanics that would work very well in a NSFW game, similar to what I had planned to do last year (with sneaking mechanics, combat mechanics)...
It's also possible to keep going as we are, but introduce more mechanics that happen during dialogues like the interrogation choices leading to different outcomes. A patron poll might be decisive for this decision for the near-future.
Thanks for reading this and I wish you a great week!
