Malevolent Planet 2D - Friesday
Hey! I'm still behind on some deadlines (like the public build, which I'm not sure if I'll manage in just under one hour), so this should be a short read.
Regarding the bugs, all of them from the Monday post were taken care of and the builds were updated on Monday as well. If there are more issues, I'll fix them as soon as possible, but I'm not aware of others other than some specific bugs that don't break the normal flow but I need more data on them.
Regarding the sounds, that's still an ongoing process. There were some attempts made to get recordings by the VA for scenes and dialogues but there was a pitch-related issue in the recordings so we're running more experiments, it turns out to be more difficult than I expected.
There were some improvements made for the gallery, including having a "blur" image on animations you haven't seen in the normal flow of the game but there's a button that can unlock all the scenes if you don't want to access them through the normal flow of the game. There's also a hint feature included, where if the scene wasn't seen yet the gallery will hint you where to access it by hovering over the thumbnail.
Content:
Prepare some illustration references/renders for possible Melissa & MC scenes at the waterfall. ✅ Started rendering some scenes
Write dialogues to advance content and give a reason for your character to take a shower to unlock the possibly first freeroam showering scene on the ship. ❌ I'll continue writing after the scenes are drawn, I've been a bit busy with a lot of things this week.
Start working on the demo version of the game that showcases different areas in the game in order to show a preview of what the "full build" offers. ✅ I have achieved something of the sorts, but it's still undergoing testing.
Maybe offer a 'skip content' menu that allows you to skip to different parts of the ISA & aftermath and pick the choices you'd pick in normal gameplay, something like a fast-forward menu. ✅ I've thought of a good system for this and it's going to be developed next week using the demo sequence as a reference. It will kind of get you through a dialogue where your character remembers things from the past, and you pick the choices she would've made. Those choices get applied to your play session as you pick them and you'll be able to start off from different points, for example you may get the choice to start from Day1 of the ISA after picking what choices you made in "Day0", or if you don't want to start there you'll then be allowed to pick different choices you would've made in Day1 again with the possibility of starting from Day2... This I think is a good way to skip to the part you want to start from while still being able to pick the choices you would've liked that would eventually affect what other choices you can make in the future.
Regarding the releases, the patron and itch build was updated on Monday with the bugs that were reported in the Monday post and now I'm hoping I'll have enough time to take care of the public build today.
Thank you for reading this and have a nice weekend!
