Community Poll: Story Overworld Map
How do you feel about the idea of a playable Story Mode map?
This would likely be in isometric 3D, with the possibility of Stuffy being playable or able to move linearly between level posts. This is common in games like Mario, Kirby, etc.
Our idea is to offer a more interesting way to navigate story content, rather than using a basic list of levels in the UI. Through this approach, we'd be able to immerse the player in the story locations and show Stuffy's influence on the world as you progress.
There is also the possibility of collecting Gifts in this mode and exploring hidden areas by slashing obstacles away. Features like the Needle 'n Thread, climbing, jumping, etc. would likely be disabled.
We'd be aiming for basic, simple, maintainable gameplay and a small scope.
This idea has been approved by some of our developers with excitement, but we'd like to get your opinion before we consider prototyping it!

love the idea if able to have a friend play through the story with you it would also be amazing !
I like the idea! though im worried that doing it would make the solo experience feel much more interesting than the community experience. Maybe let players make their own hub maps, kinda like the adventure maps in LBP 3, but that may be super complicated so dont push yourselves
I ADORE the idea. I can imagine something like walking across the planet to reach a level, much like Super Mario Wonder and/or 3D World! That's the kind of idea I see anyway!
I like the idea though of Stuffy being a... say... "globetrotter", if you will!
Very cool concept hopefully not too hard to execute.
I can’t vote that I hate the idea but I think I’d encourage you to use what you already have. A 3D isometric mode feels very bespoke and will require a lot of bespoke tech. Maybe you could use your current editor and make more of a Mario 3D Land Style map. Level path in the foreground and art stuff in the back. Maybe a special level entrance object that can be entered and exited and unlock levels when completed is enough. Just speaking from experience but playable hubs and overworld maps are a nightmare to build and playtest. I’d just advise to go as simple as you can.
Playable hub world, that would be awesome. Being able to create hubs for levels that you make if you want to make your own stories? Yes please.
I love the idea, personally I think it will really help Restiched differentiate from other titles people keep mentioning. 😊
I was just thinking the same thing!
Great idea, but it depends on how much work it is for you. I long for this game so much that I'd rather be able to play it asap without a map in the first version ;-)))))
I was looking forward to a new pod, but I have no idea what the game is going to be like. so if no pod is better, then go for it. Or if you are on the fence about it, then beta test it.
a playable story map would be awesome, it would be so cool to see and little details like the world chaging a little bit depending on levels completed would be fun to see. Keep it up!
