Weekly #239
This week, I'm going to do something a little different than the normal weekly. This week's image doesn't come from Mortze. It's the title image from Ariane Barnes' latest game, Hopepunk City.
Ariane is my friend, and she's a frequent source of inspiration for me. If not for her, I never would have gotten into writing these games. So, if you've enjoyed my work, you have her in part to thank for it.
Hopepunk City is something of a departure from her previous games. Where they were adventure games, this is more of a stat builder. But she's put her own spin on it, distilling down the important parts of that type of game while removing a lot of the repetition. It takes place in a near future world that is somewhat terrifying in that I can easily see the path from here to there. The setting/worldbuilding is really well done, and the story is interesting. Ariane's games have always been closer to "R" rated than "XXX," but I enjoyed this a lot.
The game is $5 on itch.io, https://arianeb.itch.io/hopepunk-city, or you can get it as her patron https://www.patreon.com/dateariane.
As for the normal Weekly stuff, feel free to keep posting captions for last week's image. Or post some for this week's if you'd like. On the Chasing Beth front, Mortze has been working on the longest and most complex scene in the game. I expected it to take more than a week, and it has so far. But, knowing him, it'll be glorious when he's done.

Great thought provoking game Ariane, loved it! My caption: "Welcome to a brave new world"
I had fun playing hopepunk city. A different game content message but insightful and interesting
I agree: Hopepunk City really is a fun game. Ther's a TON of different storylines, both male and female player characters, and all the world-building makes it feel much more engrossing than is typical for "this kind" of game. (Sound familiar, Tora fans?) If you haven't, you should definitely give it a try.
Thanks!!
