Rain God released
This is a text based short story I wrote as a result of something I said offhand in a weekly a few weeks ago. When I showed it to Mortze, he offered to do some pictures for it. I put some heavy constraints on what he could do in those pictures, and, no surprise, he rocked them.

If I did this right, it's releasing to $10 and higher patrons now, and will become public tomorrow.
I'm a little nervous about this one. I hope you enjoy it!

Hello Tlaera. Read your bio on mortzeartdotcom, and agree I like Tlaera better. Hope you don't mind. I've only recently discovered Tora Productions purely by accident within the past week and I'm still trying to catch up on previously released material. As I was searching the web for some information regarding some Star Wars lore and ran across The Warrior's Heart on another site. It wasn't the actual game, but a video capture of someone playing the game. The guy was being a bit of a d**che in his commentary. I turned off the sound and read some of the dialog throughout the video. Being a bit of a SW geek, I found the story quite good. This eventually led me to Tora Productions and here I am. It is reassuring to know that you can still find wonderful things when you aren't really looking. I'm only partially through you collective works; working on the Elsaverse know and just finished my first run through of Life Changes with Keeley. Of all that I've read/played so far, Rain God (10 out of 10) is definitely one of my favorites and looking forward to reading it again. Followed closely by Warrior's Heart (9 out of 10). Would have been 10/10, but I had to deduct half a point due to the audio clips of Bax at times would sort of sound like an old scratch music cassette and half a point for some of the grammatical errors in some of the non-dialog. Sorry, those things you notice when you're an engineer/analyst, but I try not to keep the little things from enjoying the overall or from excited for it's next installment. Back to Rain God...Had I only seen the images, which are incredible, hats off to Mortze for his outstanding artwork, previewed in the quality test posting, I would have to make up my own story to go with it. After reading Tlaera's version, I went from wanting to be the rain god's emissary to be the lucky guy she might meet after returning home and becoming two bodies and souls forever dancing in endless bliss. Needless to say I'm now fan you and Mortze's work and look forward to future works.
Thanks CodeWarrior! I'm glad you're enjoying our games. --Tlaero
Wow, this is a truly unique story, and in all the good ways. I see the experience you cited on the beach really did influence you. I'm really excited to read more things like this!
Thank you, everyone, for your kind words about Rain God. I'm ecstatic that you all enjoyed it! --Tlaero
Hi Tlaero, I'm a long time admirer of yours and Mortze's work, and only recently found and joined your patreon page (I'm glad to finally be able to pay you for your great work!). Just wanted to say I loved the story and the art; the story was a really cool and original concept and very well-written, and the art was astonishing in the detail, especially in portraying the rain god's avatar. Thanks for sharing this work and all the others!
That was excellent. You both definitely knocked it out of the park. You breathed so much life and personality into this short story. Every character felt alive.
"I put some heavy constraints on what he could do in those pictures, and, no surprise, he rocked them." That he did. Tara/Taila told us a mighty fine story to boot.
Tara is that rare woman who is so obviously beautiful on the outside and a mindful soul inside that it is hard to understand why she's feeling insecure about herself. Jonathan was the kind of guy that would never deeply appreciate the wonderful being she is and one may only hope that it is not because of him that she seemingly questions her worth as a soul or as a woman. She probably had lead a life that too often compromised on other peoples feelings and believes which in return took away from herself as the years rolled by. Now, out on her own, she will hopefully finally be able to reconnect with her true inner self and realize not only her beauty but what kind of an amazing and fascinating persona she really is. Whether it be real or not: if a woman is able to embrace the rain like she did and feel the water in ways she felt it at the very least has to leave you impressed by the sheer power of almost physical imagination. It really made a strong connection with me and I'd be more than happy to have someone like her in my life. BTW: LB876 was right when he said that Jonathan must have suffered some sort of traumatic injury to abandan Taras "middle-aged ass" - no man in his right mind would do such a stupid thing. I really liked the story which also reminded me a bit of the alien form in "The Abyss" and I'm glad you felt confident enough in sharing it with us. Thank you so much, Tlaero. (I quickly have to add that I love Tara, who was beautifully designed by Mortze!)
Considering the main character, I can understand that nervousness. After all, it isn't an usual place for Tara. I also have to add that I find Tara very attractive and Johnathan was a fool for leaving her. So fuck him. And I liked that manifestation - it reminded me of that water-based alien in The Abyss.
Thanks LT! --Tlaero
Whoa. I don't know that I've ever read a sexy folktale before! This reminds me of the kind of short sci-fi stories I used to devour in Analog or Asimov's, way back when. Of course, those stories were never this hot. And they weren't fortunate enough to have Mortze's images accompanying them. The "manifestation" is incredible – I don't know how you created that, but it's damned impressive. And so is all the weather. Makes for some really atmospheric (no pun intended) images. Tlaero, no reason to be nervous – this is up to your usual high standards. Though brief, it’s compelling, exciting and the main character actually is a character, not just a cardboard cut-out. I mean, I wouldn’t have been upset had it ended in an all-out, island-wide orgy, but this was every bit as satisfying. (And if that’s Tara’s “middle-aged ass”? Johnathan must have suffered some sort of traumatic brain injury when he decided to abandon it.) Pretty fun way to spend my night off of work. Thank you, both!
Thank you, LB876! I'm glad you liked it. (That wasn't why I was nervous, though :-) --Tlaero
