The Science of Lust - project
Hello guys,
iksanabot and I are ready to release what we've been working on for the last weeks.
Here are the links for the game project:

MAC: http://www.mediafire.com/file/gll0dkphavpbl97/ScienceOfLust-0.1-mac.zip/file
Linux: same as PC
We absolutely want to hear from you. How do you feel about it? Merits? Flaws? Recommendations?
I'll post it publicly right away too. This is not meant as a perk. This is a pilot introduction that should also (in our hopes) serve the expectation of catching possible new patrons' attention. I'll post it a shark's and at f95zone.
Here's the text that will accompany it:
"Hello folks,
We are Mortze and iksanabot. Some of you may already know us, or one of us, but for those who don't we're erotic game developers. Mortze deals with 3d art mostly while iksanabot is a writer, and now a coder too. Up until recently Mortze teamed up with Tlaero, making successful games like Dreaming with Elsa, Redemption for Jessika, Finding Miranda, Saving Chloe and Darkness Falls, as wells as coming to Grips with Christine and Pandora. During that period, iksanabot wrote several successful games at Lesson of Passion like Living with Temptation, the first Living with Temptation expansion: Wife Gone Wilder, Living with Temptation 2: Foreign Affairs and Seducing the Throne. That's our resume.
When Tlaero had to leave the team with Mortze, iksanabot was prompt to step in as the writer and coder for a new project. Iksanabot still works for Lesson of Passion, but as a fan and friend of Tlaero and Mortze, he put aside some extra time to explore this new creative collaboration. We discussed thoroughly what type of game we should make. One thing was clear, we couldn't make the same games that Tlaero and Mortze made because those games had a great deal of Tlaero's creative identity, and as a team, we have got to write and make the game we both feel happy and motivated to do. So we compromised for something a little more out of the niche that Tlaero and Mortze were into. We imagined a game with a story, gameplay, and characters somewhat broader to try to reach a bigger audience without hurting any of our most profound convictions.
The Science of Lust is the product of that introspection. It is a game about life, perhaps love, choices and consequences, respect and good heart, and also about lust and sex.
We decided to make a small introduction, a proof-of-concept of sorts to show our patrons and the public what we are embarking on. We hope that it will be a game that pleases many people, in many senses of the word.
This isn't a first episode; this isn't a finished game; we dare to say that this can't be considered a game at all. Consider it a pilot, a test. Play through it and let us know about its merits (if any) and suggestions. Iksanabot has some specific questions he’d like to read comments on: Your favorite and least favorite character, scene, line of dialogue, and image.
If we go ahead with this, the game will most certainly be a public one, free-to-play, released in the usual forums. Patrons will get releases first, and will have a say on how we will develop it. For example, which characters to focus on, which fetishes to explore (there will not be incest or rape). We will post the first Patron-only poll next week, which will guide what content goes into the first full episode. In this way, our supporters not only make the game possible, they guide its development.
Here's the link to our Patreon page, where the game is posted for the public (https://www.patreon.com/tora/posts). Please play it, and if you feel so inclined, support us to make both of us continue making this into a game. Perhaps spend a little time telling us about your thoughts about the project.
As a final word on this post, and because this is a selling pitch in all honesty, both of us, Mortze and iksanabot, have already built reputations in making ero games. Those who know us may like or dislike us but at the very least, we have shown that we can finish games. This is a critical moment in the development of this game – we need support to work on it. Iksanabot has a full time job, and already also works for Lesson of Passion. The support has to come, or we cannot make this game.
Have fun!

i love this, great renders and a funny story, cant wait for the whole episode 1 :) good luck guys, the game looks awesome ;)
I just went trough this demo as well, because Iksanabot recommended it. I'm not fan of ren'py and i seen better use of it, this so far seems too much of a visual novel and I'm not fan of those at all. Graphic is good, characters are different has uniqueness thats big positive. BUT we know nothing about the story how frank sands said before what we see is too generic. Horny guy at university surrounded by beautiful woman. try shag all. That's 12 a dozen not worth to mention or play. You have to add uniqueness to that one too.
I just played this now. I'm sorry Mortze, but this feels completely generic and uninspired. The art is still great, but has no soul anymore. And the worst of it for me is that this "game" now has a skip button, something that would be unthinkable with Tlaero. Good luck with your work. I think I will stop my support here and look somewehere else.
I'm sorry to hear that. It's just an intro, perhaps too soon to pass such a judgement. It's very difficult to keep Tlaero's touch with someone new writing the game. I also think that a "skip" button is a non-issue since it's an optional button. Nonetheless, I thank you for your support all this time and hope to see you soon again. Cheers - Mortze
I concur with Markus, this feels like a harem erotic adventure rather than something that is relationship based. Is this your direction now?
Please do not get me wrong, I love your work. But I'm just trying to figure out how to come up with such a storyless and meaningless garb as The Sciene of Lust as a developer of fatastic games like Finding Miranda, Redemption for Jessica, Pandora or Dreaming of Elsa? Im serious about being an idiot with a 24-7 permanent erection that permanently harasses women and complains about his miserable life. This is supposed to be the new big project of being one of the best story-game developers in the field of erotic novels? Hopefully that's just a bad joke that you're kidding us with. You can fucking so much better!
FYI: It is now possible to make Renpy Games accessible as online games. Just update to Renpy 7.3 and follow the instructions. I posted Date Ariane online at https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/733235
Thanks for the hint!
Anyway to play this on the mobile?
I see you guys are using Renpy for this project instead of Tlaero's Adventure Creator. I converted Elsa Jessika, Miranda, and Chloe games into Renpy via python scripting. I was wondering if you guys would be interested in the code so you can release renpy versions of these games to your patrons? (These games are yours so I can't release them)
Hey Ariane! I had actually used the Renpy files you sent me to start making a version of AdventureCreator that output a Renpy version of the game. But I got bogged down and didn't finish it. Mortze and Iksanabot, if you'd like to take Ariane up on her offer, I'm all in favor. --T
Good news, keep up!
Kind of a mixed bag reaction. The slapstick routine works nicely, that was a well-made change. At the same time, some characters set the bar pretty high. For a change, I wouldn't be disappointed should the professor be untouchable, except in dreams of course. As MC stands, and under the current setup, him finding a way into her pants is quite very far streched. Art is beautiful as usual, the glossy lips is a bit odd sometimes as one noted and one top view of the prof in the library makes her spine looks... odd. Must be me.
Hello! I started playing back in the Elsa-verse games and fell in love with the visual storytelling to the point that few other ero games are even appealing to me anymore. You have successfully spoiled me there. My review so far is a positive one. Pros; a more comedic storyline with a fairly relatable start for most guys, a great introduction of story points to get through, fantastic visuals as always, and plenty of good looking characters (male and female alike) which feel genuine and unique. As someone who really enjoys all stories, I love seeing characters who seem like real people with vastly different lives. Cons; with the preface that I know this is just a "pitch" as you called it, some of the frames do seem out of place specifically due to repetition during the professor's lecture yet I can easily overlook this because it's engaging, a couple of the dialogue choices feel a little bit forced but not too much, and I will agree with the previous comment on the dialogue boxes being slightly distracting. All that being said, I can't wait to see more and I'm very happy to see the updates. Thanks for sharing all your great work!
Loved it, the girls were all amazing, have already a few favorites ;-). Great homage to Tlaero, by connecting this story to previous ones. Really felt sorry for the MC, while I laughed, as he himself put it, this has been one weird day. Liked that you could already see that the women had different personalities and preferences, what will work with one girl will not work with the next. Looking forward to see more of him and all the beautiful ladies. The funny thing is that I work in a academic library and I just found a book by Karl Popper on the shelf today by mere coincidence :-).
i cant wait for more! was great and had a good story so far.
Hej guys, this vindicates my belief (that i voted for) that you guys should do your own thing. It looks very promising and i am already guessing what the mystery about the professor is (pheromone perfume?) So, very quickly, my two cents: I would prefer for you to stay true to the "respectful theme", so in spite of a whole lot of stunning females in the cast, please don`t include going behind a girls back that is in love withe the MC. Open-relationship or agreed threesomes are a different matter, however. If one gotta catch em all, that´s what multiple playthroughs are for. Second, in a game, decisions need to be meaningful for the player to feel involved. So decisions need to be clear and have a noticeable impact. The mix of silly and hot is iksasabots specialty, so build on that! Great job guys, go for it!
Thoroughly enjoyed it! Haven`t laughed so hard in ages :)
Interesting approach. The story to put it aside is quite silly but as far as I understand the plot was prepared only to present possibilities. Ladies ..hmmm .... some familiar faces itooks like Mr. Mortze has same favourite ones. Waiting for the game.
He does!
I couldn't stop laughing - it was fairly painful to watch, but unaccountably amusing. Seriously though, time for some better feedback. The renders were from great to stunning. All bar none of the ladies are beautiful, even if not all are my type. The character sprites didn't always mesh with the background, though - I'm thinking especially of the scene with the railway carriage in the background. The animations are not really interesting to me, neither the full animation (the professor's walk) or the slow slideshow in the final scene with Riley. The things I look for most in a VN are story, writing, options, expressions, poses, and individual renders (lighting, composition, even postwork); animation seems entirely a waste of time to me, both in terms of posing and rendering. Speaking of story and options, I was happy to see that there are a few hints of an actual plot, interesting characters to meet, and options to pick a distinctive character to play. I can't say I was really captivated by the story, I would expect a lot more from the full game, but all in all, it's a project I'd like to see more of :) and yes, I really liked that the names of the psychologists you used are actually renowned academics, not fictional people. The more realistic you make the setting, the better! We might even learn a thing or two ;)
Does this mean you will abandon html type games? That would be a shame.
No. Pandora will still be done in html, and probably any solo projects I'll do afterwards.
I'm sorry to disapoint you moskys, and we absolute plan for the full release chapter to be very polished. I think calling it a marketing nightmare is a bit pessimistic - the response so far has been mostly positive.
I'm really glad it's working but when asking for money for a new project I honestly think you have to offer something more than this, especially when both of you have such a high profile. It just feel to rushed to me. At this point I definitely wouldn't throw my €€ into this project if I didn't know your past work. And again, it's not the content but the envelopement which is causing me to be this bitter. I trust you both.<br>Also, minor thing: if the player lost his keys at the library and won't have them back until next day, how could he open the apartment door with his keys?
Well... I understand you felt in a hurry to show us your next project but this is a marketing nightmare. I honestly doubt you'll get any new patron with a ren.py-based proof of concept that is not ren.py-friendly (no character's names, solid textbox, that annoying 'choose your loop speed' thing). This needs a lot of improvement in almost every aspect of it. Below the title picture you state 'It is designed to show you how Mortze and iksanabot work together'. Please, consider this from a newbie player point of view and ask yourselves if you'd be attracted to it. Knowing you both, I guess that's not how you really want your work to be seen.<br>Just to be clear: the story seems interesting enough and most of pictures show Mortze's usual great skills but please invest some time in polishing your work before releasing a proper chapter.
My favourite so far is Hannah, with the Prof close behind her, the least favourite from the looks is Jacky, but she didnt talk much yet, eh^^ Favourite scene and images are from the fitness studio. The shower seen was great.
Thanks for answering, and for playing! You must have looked at the code to find Hannah's name...
Hi guys, sorry in advance for my newbieness. I downloaded the game but what should i do to make it run on linux?
I was told that the PC download would work on Linux too. You can't run the game? -- Mortze
Mc comes off as a huge pussy, with a weird looking dick.
IN the full release, you will have much more control in how he acts. In this introduction, he was meant to be kind of discombobulated because his hard on was so strangely insistent - a once-in-a-lifetime, one-in-a-million hard on. So he wasn't quite feeling himself...
The quality of the images has further improved. Great! As well I like the story. Please go on. A small detail, the lips of nearly all women are shining, which makes it for me a bit less natural. The image of the speaking person could be a bit smaller as well as the speaking text. So it covers more than necessary of the great images.
Awesome so far. Love the story and characters. Would indeed try to avoid the “loops” and have the more live animations in the sex scenes...?
I really liked it! I would definitely be interested in playing a full length game with these characters.
Great! Thanks!!
Very nice. The writing and gameplay were fun and worthy of the name Tora, the women were all attractive, and the renders looked great as usual without being hurt by the blurry filter, except the sex scene pictures seemed a little bit too blurry, so perhaps sex scenes should be allowed to render a little while longer or the blur filter shouldn't be used on them or some other solution to make them look as good as the rest of the renders. That was my only real nitpick, and overall, it's impressive work by both of you, and I'm already interested in getting to know the characters better, so kudos!
Thanks man! I think we've got any rendering issues figured out for the full game.
It's a good start - different than what I'm used to from you, but that's of course to be expected. I'm willing to role with it, though I agree with the big things other people have said like character names. My big thing is please, for the love of god, give the main character more hair. You usually seem to keep the main character's hair on the pretty short side, but it would be nice to see one with at least medium length hair.
We may be able to change the MC's style a bit as the story progresses - Mortze and I will discuss it.
A promising start. I'm not a huge fan of the college setting, but that's really only because it seems that's been done to death in virtually every "adult game" out there. I've always enjoyed the slightly older-skewing characters in previous "Elsa-verse" games, but that's just personal preference (I haven't been college-aged in quite some time) than it is any real criticism. I wholeheartedly endorse LT's suggestion that you add character names in the text boxes. I wasn't sure whose suggestions I was endorsing or shooting down with the two girls outside class. Otherwise, I'm looking forward to more. It's certainly more "lighthearted" than some of the darker, grittier stuff we've seen in Sangrive, but there's definitely room for various kinds of stories in this universe. If you guys are happy with what you're doing, I think that's the big thing. Anyway, it's beautiful as always, and while it's a departure in the writing and gameplay, (That’s NOT a complaint – just an observation.) I'm intrigued and ready to play.
Thanks man! The college setting is quite necesssary for one of the central aspects of the story. I conceived of, and wrote an outline for this story more than10 years ago, before the college setting was quite as done to death as it is today.
Played the Science of Lust intro. Loved it. Joined up as a patron. Great art, interesting story concept. Mackenzie, Taylor, the Professor, babe met outside coffee shop, and blonde video vixen all look incredibly promising. Can't wait to see more.
Thanks so much!!
OMG!! HAHAHA! Loved it, and looking forward to the first episode.
OK, I played it for few times. I think I'm starting to see meaning behind the title. For suggestions: During dialogue, names of character should be visible on screen. At few times I was unsure who was actually speaking, so that would be helpful. Also, some sort of achievement or gallery section, so we know what we missed. For characters: I'm not a fan of MC – visually, to be precise. I can't put a finger on what exactly bothers me on him. Maybe it's that haircut or profile pic, I don't know. Steve had a very short screen time, yet he showed that he's a big douche and I already dislike him. And I've got feeling that good professor is up to no good. For images: I actually didn't recognize Serena. Only after she spoke of her love troubles, I realized who she is. And I feel that Sarah's profile pic needs some work, in my opinion it looks worst from the bunch. I really liked that disapproving old lady in cafe, that was spot on. But that shower scene – not cool, Mortze. I like girls with more meat on their bones but this was a bit too much. There is a lots of potential here, so I'm interested to see where it all leads in the end
I had no idea that was supposed to be Serena until I read this post LT. mortze PLEASE go back to the original Serena! Or rename this character and use the original Serena in a different game.
Amazing game. Can not wait for the next versions!!!
Like it, quite different of Tlaero work, but I really apreciated the humour, I really love all the jokes, the situations, as a presentation it works really well. Keep on with the amazing work guys!
