This week Mortze did more images and sent them to me today. I'll code them up pretty soon.
When we released Toro 7 on Steam we got loud and clear feedback that people expect sound and animations in these games. We haven't figured out what to do with the animations yet, but with the help of Gleen from GleenX Studio I got set up to start adding music to our games. I'm doing Toro 7 first as a dry run, with the intent of doing a Steam update for it when I finish the sounds. And I plan to add sounds to Minos from the outset.
I'm probably a third of the way through Toro 7 now. I'm far enough ahead on the writing that I've got time to spare anyway. If you hate the thought of music in your AVN, don't worry. You can mute all in Preferences (as well as set the volumes if you just want the music to be quiet).

Simple ambient sounds that correspond to events and environments can do a lot to enhance the ambience of the game. Some games do this very well, but a lot don't bother.
In longer games I almost always I turn the music off, for being too repetitive, no matter how good the score is. Sound effects, on the other hand, are needed enhancements for many games. Animations bloat a game's size and unless they are realistic quality, really do not add anything to a game.
GleenX is a creator that does their music well, so this sounds promising! I think it is important that music follows the scenes, and if done right, it can really encance a scene. Something I have no understanding for at all, is when a game has a "jukebox" in it where you can choose songs and skip tracks. If the music won't follow the game, why should it be _in_ the game?
Sound I don't mind. But animaions are a real neusance. They add very little if done right. But they take away a lot, if done wrong. They also lenghten devcycles and often reduce the amount of content devs can pack into an update. It is a bad trend for AVNs all around.
