Winner of the Weekly #31 caption contest
This week we had an image of a new character that Mortze made specifically for the weeklies--a Japanese motorcycle rider named "Akira."
Now, maybe Chaucer and I are just old, but I would have thought we would have gotten a different set of captions for this. But that wasn't in the cards. Not even one, "Tetsuooooo!" Chaucer, I got your reference, even if no one else did. (-:
In the end, I went with Lazy Turtle's suggestion (remember that last week's winner gets to vote for the current week's caption). That's Eldormain with:
"I put the rocket in Crotch-rocket."

Goddamnit I was thinking about making exactly that remark, but figured it didn't really fit since the only similarity is a common name and in the manga Akira is just a kid, and not part of the biker gang. Then I thought about several other Akira references but never reached one I liked enough to post.
Just goes to show, what I'm going to like the best is a mystery. I actually have all 38 of the original English version Akira books. Post your crazy ideas. Maybe I'll say, "Yes!" and maybe I'll say "Huh?" but I'll never say, "You suck for making a manga Akira reference." (-: --Tlaero
