Progress 1 Dec 2024

This week, Mortze asked to write the progress report. What follows is from him:

This last week I've not advanced in the Star Wars Game, and for that I would like to appologize and inform why the reason. My dog of 3 y.o. has been unwell in the past weeks and last week and this Monday and this Wednesday we went to the vet to have him checked up, take blood samples several times, and finally an ultrasound. He drinks a lot of water, he has high concentrations of Calcium on his body, he's difficult with the food and is lethargic having lost the energy and enthusiasm we've been used to. The ultrasound revealed that his lymphic nodes in his intestines are very swollen so there's very high chances, an almost certainty, that he has lymphoma cancer. Only taking a sample of the lymph nodes would confirm the diagnosis but since it's the intestines lymph nodes it would require an invasive surgery and a painful recovery, something we think it's not worth because any treatment with chemo and radio therapy would only prolong his life to a year at most, which in our opinion isn't relevant for a dog, but painful and stressful treatments are.

I have been devastated in the past days to the idea of loosing my friend, my pal, my boy, way before what we anticipated, him being only 3 y.o. We've also been witnessing him loosing his energy, his playfullness and his apetite; all qualities that he use to have more than we liked (and that we deeply regret now).

I'll surely get back on track on the work with SW, my motivation is still high, and this delay has nothing to do with motivation or anything of the sorts, rest asssured. It's just that his condition and the prospect of loosing him so soon is just too fresh. I hope you understand.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dog, Mortze! I remember when my family lost our first dog. It was devastating. Took some of my family members a while to recover. We (patrons) completely understand. Take your time and grieve. Remember and focus on the good times; cherish the moments, and most of all, reach out to others for support.

My heart goes out to you, Mortze, having experienced something similar with my brave dog two years ago (cancer of the nasal cavity and then of the sinuses). No surgery was possible, no chemo or radiotherapy, just a year of background treatment with anti-inflammatories before making the final decision. Take heart. Courage.

I’m sorry for you and your partner at what is happening to your child, best friend, work companion. They impact our lives so much and ask so little in return.
