Helmet Scaler - new and free DESKTOP app made for you guys

Guys i have something exciting for you :) - this has been in the making for a while, and you can see a full breakdown video here, as well my thought on how i made it - and yes, funny thing i made this app entirelly by myself by learning how to code in unity - crazy right ? :D

It works on windows and MacOS, but check the video down here first:

HELMET SCALER DOWNLOAD
https://helmetscaler.com/

Helmet Scaler is the world’s first standalone desktop application built specifically to solve one of the biggest challenges in wearable 3D printing: achieving a perfect helmet fit.

Designed for creators, cosplayers, prop makers, and professionals, Helmet Scaler allows you to precisely scale and position helmets, masks, and similar wearable 3D models—before you ever start printing.

The application is built to feel instantly familiar. From the first launch, the workflow is intuitive, efficient, and designed to feel as if you’ve been using it forever.

Best of all, Helmet Scaler is completely free, made possible by the amazing supporters of the MysteryMakers Patreon.

Key Features & Capabilities

  • Masculine and feminine facial presets
Choose between masculine and feminine facial features and proportions as a starting point for accurate fitting.

  • 3D head scan support
Import your own 3D head scan data for maximum realism and precision.

  • Measurement-based avatar scaling
Adjust your digital avatar using real-world head measurements to match your exact head shape.

  • Preset system for fast workflows
Save and load presets to eliminate repeated measuring and speed up your process.

  • Multiple user presets
Store presets for multiple people—ideal for studios, teams, or repeated client work.

  • High-performance STL import
Import your original helmet STL files regardless of file size. Helmet Scaler is built to handle even very large models.

  • Advanced helmet transformation tools
Move, rotate, and scale helmets—uniformly or non-uniformly—to achieve an exact fit on your avatar, head scan, or preset.

  • Non-destructive export workflow
The exported helmet is an instance of your original model.
No resolution is changed or reduced—only transformation data is applied.
Your original file remains untouched, while the adjusted version is saved separately.

  • Section view helpers
Use precise section views to fine-tune helmet positioning and internal clearance with confidence.

  • Strip cutout test prints
Generate strip cutouts of critical helmet areas to test fit without wasting material or time—ensuring the final full print fits perfectly.

  • Completely offline, private, and secure
    Helmet Scaler works entirely offline.
It does not connect to the internet, does not collect any data, and does not upload or track anything.
Your facial 3D scans and confidential helmet projects remain fully private and entirely yours.

Helmet Scaler is not a general-purpose 3D tool—it is a purpose-built solution focused entirely on wearable fit accuracy. Every feature exists to save time, reduce failed prints, and deliver professional results consistently.

Perfect fit. Predictable results. Zero cost.

Thank you guys for your awesome support and once again allowing me to make cool things like this :D

Absolutely amazing! My one suggestion is to add an opacity slider for the helmet but this is so helpful with the sizing rings

M

W
W Christopher Benham Skidmore · January 17, 2026

Using the gingerbread as an an example, is there a way to import ears and rangefinder, etc. together with the helmet at the same time and scale those together so they fit?

M
MysteryMakers · January 17, 2026

so you can import 1 stl once - depending on wich scale system you plan to use there are a few solutions - if you use the uniform scale just take note of the scale% and remember it - then type in the same scale % to the other parts and they will match up - if you use non uniform scale generally I dont recommend using non uniform scale when there are multiple parts as offsets might no longer work, but that being said I think I will start adding "grouped" helmet models with smaller parts so it works with this. its all a bit new but the way I will approach all my new releases will be totally in line with this, however you can still use it for the old ones as well

So is this standalone or oart of galactic armorys armor scaling sodtware. So weird that creators are always doing the same things

M
MysteryMakers · January 17, 2026

It’s a standalone project, not connected to any other software. The idea came from my own needs, but I get why it might remind people of similar tools. Please watch the YT video, i talk about it in a bit more detail :)
