(new download) Lacerta Legate Fallout helmet
Started the month slow… but I’m dropping some hits now - so you get 2 releases today :D
For those of you watching Fallout, you already know what this is:
Lacerta Legate helmet from the tv show Fallout. Was actually very happy to see Macauley Culkin’s back on the screen, it was a nice surprise :) But i was hoping we would get to see more of the somehow in the latest episode, but we get what we get :D
I designed this to be as simple and clean to print as possible, with options for the Hair/fur so you can use real fur/hair, or use the fully 3D-printed hair version I’ve included.
Oh and it has a removeable magnetic face plate, just like in the show :)
Happy printing, guys — and let me know in the comments below if you want more Fallout props, and which ones you’d like to see next 👇

I wish I had a way to send you pictures, but I've already completed my helm and love it. Couple of small issues I found though. -The small face plumes do not match the contour of the faceplate. They don't even come close to sitting flush and it seems they have to be installed with thick screws or they won't stay on. -On the back of the helmet, on the right side, the key holes for the squares are wrong. The holes seem to be mirrored causing the squares to be up too high. Was this on purpose to make it look handmade? -Last is the magnets. Did you mean to say 8x2mm magnets for one side of the mask? I put 8x1mm on each side and they wouldn't even touch. I had to double up the magnets on the faceplate, 40 total 8x1mm glued together, but then it finally held together. Otherwise, I don't think I've printed one of your designs faster then this haha. Love it man. I can only hope you do the rest of Lecerta's armor, because I'll do a full cosplay of him if that happens!
just drop me a message to the inbox, we can exchange photos - but several of these concerns are just print orientation problems - thats why I always keep saying I hate supports, every time we have a surface that is not flat and needs support the "linking" always create unexpected volume wich is a bit hard to work with(at least with FDM print) - now for th little details, yes, you need larger screws that just carve itself into the 3dprint geometry. I checked the key holes, they should be ok - drop me a message, let's compare what happened :) - magnets are 8x1 but I added 0.5 thickness on each end, so thats roughly 1 mm thickness in between bcs people usually use hot glue and that creates a thicker mass, so I made a larger offset this time - but yeah, drop me a message, we can go over it, always room for improvement :)
Impressive! :P https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/fsxf7353a9q0aygoqwsaj/lacerta.jpg
BTW I found an issue and a tip for improvement. The issue is I found the whole plate addon with the knife has a tolerance issue when gued to the top of the helmet and either one of the two seams gets visible because PLA is hard as rock.... Perhps scale it down a couple % The tip is if the squares that you need to glue all around have a specific position, next time you generate the connectors, use a different shape for every place/group so we don't mix them up. I did mine totally random and gave it a more "handmade" feel but for other cases (other props/builds) muight be useful ;)
You're amazing 😍
thank you bud :)
So I love fallout stuff. I tend to always wanted the big stuff that takes lots of time to design and then im the only one who prints it :) Am I the only one who thought that home alone must have really hardened Kevin to the point of joining the legion? Guess you never know about kids
oh yeah, tahts my thoughts all the time, i want to do the large comoplex stuff so we can all print it but then i think , are we actually printing all of this ? so i tend to go back and forth all the time when choosing what to do next :D haha yeah kevin had a rough time :D
I'll take all the fallout props please lol
haha :D maybeeeee :D
