I Bought a Lordstown Endurance!

Here's the video that I've been working on for a good month. I expected it to be long, but I didn't expect it to be an hour long! Hopefully every question and more you've ever had about the Lordstown Endurance gets answered by this video. If you had previously never heard of it, even better!

I just picked up a junkyard Lordstown Endurance and was wondering if you get me some information. Such as the layout of the fuse panel just inside the driver's side door, a copy of the manual and what happens when you try to charge it?
Just found a local place selling chassis of these trucks https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1491197778940844/#
The funniest thing just happened, I just remembered this video while sitting at work and went to rewatch, but I got distracted on marketplace and what do you know pops up—2023 Lordstown Endurance Chassis Only https://m.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1491197778940844/ on marketplace, idk if this interests you at all but I thought I’d share
Honestly imo I think even just for the 109kw of battery is worth the $3500
I was on my way to pick up a TEVan when I passed by the lordstown factory, it didn't click in my head immediately but when it did I couldn't believe I happened to pass by that place on accident.
Hey Robert! I know you're probably sick of people sending you old cars for sale, but there is an Organic Transit 2019 ELF for sale in my area on Facebook marketplace. https://www.facebook.com/share/193swZMJTn/ Seems like a fitting vehicle for the stuff you cover
Robert you are amazing best of luck with however many miles you put on the world's rarest truck EV
Great video! It’s interesting that they took such a custom approach to this truck. If they would have done a lot more parts bin shopping maybe they could have got it to a point where it was more affordable and quicker to engineer.
Hey man, saw your video. I thought you won a recent auction but seems wasnt the case. Go to allsurplus dot com and look up 'lordstown'.... There currently is a Chassis for sale (multiple if you read the listing). Motors included but not wheels haha. 1,500 bucks currently. I have bought many gov auctions from that site... Sorry in advance if this adds to stress of being exposed to good deals :D
Just watched the video and that was great. I followed that mess from when Lordstown was started through Foxconn's purchase of the bones. Watching all the financial crap and knowing how big a scam it was. Now having a chance to see the truck, finally, and see that it really was is the end of a circle. Thank you Robert! Of course we haven't seen the last of that Workhorse truck. They keep dragging its bones out with a different name.
Stop making me want vehicles I can't have, I just have to resort to trying to find brochures for them lol
You have any plans on tinkering with it, Like fixing the body panel misalignment, or maybe try to to get those parking sensors/rear top camera working? Or are you more along the lines of just trying to preserve it as is, as a monument ti its..uh..existence? lol. Either way, amazing video! and a super interesting vehicle... Is this the only modern electric vehicle with hub motors?
As far as I know it's only this and the Lightyear One. Lots of scooters and things have hub motors, but that's a very different scale. I'm leaving it as is! There's very little I can do to it anyway
Omg yes! I just got back from the farm and needed ideas for my latest obsession.
Were you able to get insurance for it normally, or was it more like registering the Trabant since no one has heard of it?
It has completely normal insurance from the same company I insured the Silverado with. And it's annoyingly half the cost compared to the Silverado
“Why are you clicking” broke me
The AM radio demonstration reminds me of inductor recordings of AC motor inverters. Now I'm curious what the inverter patterns on your various EVs actually are! I think a TC Sights and Sounds type video of just driving along and listening to inductor microphone recordings of the inverters would be super cool... then again, I have a very specific mental illness that makes me interested in that kind of thing.
What a documentary! Brilliant. Thanks for the entertainment. @adambravo1274 suggested to do a Canoo next. I second that. they look fun.
this was a great video robert. and I enjoyed it being a bit longer than your other videos. maybe if this one does well enough maybe you will consider occassionally doing longer videos. I bet there is alot you leave on the cutting room floor
I'd heard you mention the Lordstown previously but as someone coming into this video blind as to what that was, just based on the name I was not expecting an EV truck. The name "Lordstown Endurance" conjured up images in my head of some kind of 1980s Crown Vic style vehicle.
Thank you for putting yourself through all of this to show us weird cars.
Boooo, more EV truck videos coming our way. I wonder why you even still have all other cars in your fleet when all you make videos about is just EV trucks and EV charging roadtrips. Just look at the channel, in the last year all but one video were just EV truck videos. This has nothing to do anymore with AGING wheels.
Everything is aging. It's not called aged wheels. I'm just following my interests
Any chance of additional shipping options? I’d love to buy one of the T-shirts but 28 CAD shipping is steep for a 36 CAD t-shirt!
I don't have the answer for this directly. You can use the contact form on their website to contact Eric and ask him
So, If We (the patrons) were to raise the funds to offset your investment, would you (The Robert) consider donating this piece of history to somewhere like the Lane Motor Museum? Or some other large, stable museum that could let others come see it?
There's no way I could ask that of y'all. My first thought was to reach out to the Peterson (when I'm ready) because they have actual money to buy it and would preserve it. I would love it to go to the Lane too
Robert! super cool video! it is amazing to see such a thorough walkthrough on something so rare, i love it! non-sequitur: i live in Alaska. a few months ago i bought some stickers & magnet from the merch store, and shipping was via USPS 1st class envelope for $1, nice. today i wanted to buy some more merch (incidentally, the currency kept defaulting to Euros; i didnt really care too much and had to manually change to USD multiple times [probably some software thing] but NBD). i added a couple stickers and a koozie to the cart, and shipping defaulted to $32 dollars for UPS, which was more than the total order amount. im used to paying out the ass for shipping on everything, but if the shipping is more than the item(s) actually cost, it gives me pause. i removed the koozie from the order, and shipping returned to $1. i placed the order, of course, but wanted to alert you of the fringe scenarios of weirdos like me who might prefer USPS over other couriers. as someone who has voluntarily chosen to live in a ridiculous place, i understand if it complicates things too much to add USPS to the shipping options (some sellers consider us "international" up here) and i resign to not being able to purchase certain things, but i thought you might like to be aware of the situation. cheers from the Last Frontier!
I asked him about this (I don't manage the merch myself) and the answer was very long and convoluted. If you ask Eric what you asked me, he can give you the long and convoluted answer directly to you (and a possible solution) https://flyingfrogmerch.com/pages/contact
Hiya Robert! Have you considered uploading the Lordstown Endurance owners manual onto the Internet Archive? I believe that should be preserved as history.
The pacing in that video was perfect. I'm not sure how you could have covered all that material in a shorter time. I bet this video is a winner. Also, I am embarrassed by my state.
I appreciate how you didn't try to drive the truck to Lordstown Ohio.
Don't think I didn't consider it
Could you post a copy of the PDF owners manual? Inquiring minds want to know how to operate a truck they’ll never drive!
Can’t wait to watch this! I also had a question about the merch, Robert. I got a Wheego shirt like 4 years ago and it lasted exactly 1 wash before the graphic came off. Are you going to rerelease the wheego shirt by chance?
I'll consider this an official request! Also I'm sorry about it being crap quality. I promise the new stuff is much better
I'm surprised you claim it looks like a Silverado, I swear it looks more like an F-150, of the same generations that you own, maybe a bit of an F-150 mixed with the Ford explorer sport Trac
I think it's mostly the mirrors for me
So...I grew up in the area around Lordstown on the PA side vaguely involved in the car world, and if you bought your Endurance from a town nearby the factory that relates to witches from a smaller dealer back in March...I may know the guy you bought it from. Strangely small world!
I actually got it from a guy in central Michigan, but who knows where it was before
You're my hero, Robert!! ❤️
As someone residing in Cincinnati, the chilli comment is spot on
I live like, 10 minutes from Lordstown and my grandpa worked at the old Chevy plant for nearly 40 years, and I had zero idea this existed before you revealed you bought one.
That area really surprised me. Granted, I just drove in and then left, but it seems like the factory IS that area. I'm sure it was a massive blow to that area when GM idled the plant in 2019
Awesome!!!
Wow!
