Statement about MiSTer
As some may know I had a misunderstanding with MiSTer main developer yesterday. We have already sorted it out. Sorgelig and I have met in person twice in the past and he's a great host. I am also thankful to the work he's done for the MiSTer platform. Thank you to the people who showed support yesterday and apologies for the drama.
Sorgelig and I still have a disagreement about how to handle source code, file distribution and other technical points but that is normal.
For cores that are mature, I will try to facilitate porting to the main MiSTer environment. Namely, Double Dragon games are very close to that stage. For cores I'm working on currently I'll keep using a fixed MiSTer framework version, for which I may accept external requests such as DB15 Snac, DB9, or TV sync support.
Thank you all for being there

Nothings beats some good old fashioned drama, this never seems to get old, compared to the FPGA scene drama, the emulation scene seems almost harmless ;) Both you and Sorgelig are doing great work, don't let different opinion on certain aspects of your both work block your view on this. You are both important for the great evolution of the FPGA scene during the last years. You both are working in the same field, sometimes even on the same hardware, but you both are looking at things from different positions. I think this explains why Sorgelig as a platform maintainer sees things different than you. This is fine, you both have good arguments for your positions. In the end of the day it's nice to read, that you sorted this out. Unnecessary drama is only entertaining for a brief period. So thank you both.
I'm not heavily involved in this project or the "scene", but I try to financially support developers when I can. Every time I hear about someone wanting to do something and the idea being shut down by the one person, it does seem odd for an open source project.
Not when doing things in a standardized way matters. Coding style, filesystem organization, etc are things that have to be standardized from the top down in order to avoid wild-west “cowboy coding” chaos for the end user. But for anything else, the person at the top should take feedback and suggestions and not shoot down good ideas.
I agree with a unified solution. But Jotego's cores are all beta anyways so keeping them seperate right now alright with me
I missed the drama so I’m still not clear on the details, but I will just say this — it sucks that I still have to use a separate updater script just for your cores, and that none of your cores seem designed to align with the filesystem layout scheme (for cores and MRAs) used by the main MiSTer updater script. As a patron, I really hope my funding helps motivate you to get all your releases cores updated to adhere to the official ways so I can easily update and use them alongside all the other cores officially supported by MiSTer. If every core developer defies the established standards and does things their own way, we’re going to have a usability nightmare on our hands.
heavily agree. im afraid the longer i have the MISTer the more i see the fragmentation among the devs. please unify the tribes so we can all make it the best ever
15/24/31 kHz support is one of the beautiful parts of MiSTer... not to mention part of the original spec. Hope to see it get the 1st class treatment.
I hope we can keep your H/V sync for CRT if it moves to official MISTer. Also I noticed that the other official cores like SNES/Turbografix/Megadrive (Genesis) and so on would benefit from H/V positioning. I hope all discussion will get sorted out. Thank you for your developement. It makes me happy!
I think it will work out well
Fantastic news! thanks for your job!
I know mister was thought to use by hdmi, but having TV sync is supersumo for those who use on consumer TV
Yes, db15 would be great for the ones with a jvs arcade with db15 connectors to plug on the NeoGeo supergun
This sounds really good !
That is fantastic!
Glad to hear this :)
I'm glad the misunderstanding is sorted out!
How does db15 work? I assume there has to be a decoder on the snac board?
SNAC is becoming more and more important, thank you very much.
Thanks for the heads up . Can’t wait for DB9 support!
Db15 snac makes a lot of sense
