Tortle Druid - WIP 02
Hey folks! Here's my progress on the Tortle druid :D Still a few elements to add here and there and quite a bit of detailing and polishing required everywhere, but I'm pretty happy with the direction it's taking now ^^ Let me know what you think!

Joined up for the tortles! Having read Estevao Correas earlier post, I’m now thinking of a tortle mage with a bansai tree growing over his shoulder, like this one. http://afterorangecounty.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/DSC_0670.jpg
Hey Robb! Thanks for your support :D I'll come back to Tortles in the future to complete the set, and a mage with a bonzai tree might be in there ;) For now I'm just focusing on this Druid, and the next two, Artificer and Bard. I see you've subscribed to the CUBROLL tier ($2.50). That means you're getting the models available from this post :) https://www.patreon.com/posts/cubroll-tier-new-41160945 The Tortles are my current release. If you want them, you'll need to up your pledge to access this post : https://www.patreon.com/posts/first-tortles-41160887
Yes... I know. Well... no fault in asking, right?
No, absolutely not ;) You're not the only one asking for barbarians ;) Just like most of my releases, they're incomplete sets, so I'll definitely come back to Tortles at some point and make a barbarian :D
Also, I'd REALLY like to see a BARBARIAN TORTLE in full swing... Please consider this with a kind heart. ;)
Hey Estevao :D Thanks for your comment :) The shield seems to be a pretty common trend among Tortle druids in DnD. Everywhere I looked, I saw concept arts of Tortle druids holding shields.. so I figured it'd be a good idea. Then again, the shield will be optional and this model will have swappable hands ;) Barbarian Tortle is unfortunately out the window already :s The community voted for Artificer and Bard for the next two Tortles ^^'
Hi Manuel! I love the druid. Like someone pointed out, from a gamer's point of view, the shield seems like a strange choice. In DnD, for instance, "Druids are proficient with the following weapons: club, dagger, dart, quarterstaff, scimitar, sickle, shortspear, sling, and spear. They are also proficient with all natural attacks (claw, bite, and so forth) of any form they assume with wild shape". But I agree that's probably nitpicking Having said that I'd suggest adding living foliage to the carapace perhaps. Such a creature would himself be home to small plants and perhaps small animals that could live symbiotically on its shell.
In both 3.5 and 5e, Druids are proficient with light and medium armor as well and can use Shields so long as they're made of Wood. There's really nothing strange with that from a DnD perspective.
Right on! Now I can see that guy climbing up out of the miry swamp to give a quest to the party! :D
Thank Alex :D He could definitely be that kind of NPC ;)
Looking amazing! I love how you do almost daily updates and ask for constant feedback. Makes it feel like the models are made with the fans instead of for :)
Thanks Jason :D I think he looks old enough now ^^ I made his head bigger, the eyes bigger, sculpted more wrinkles and skin folds etc. just like we discussed. I think he also feels "druid enough", now ;P Like I said, your feedbacks are super valuable to me. And I like sharing as many things as I can with my community and making it more involved :)
Underbelly runes are rad. Loving the progress
Thanks, man :D Had to browse through quite a few celtic druidic runes till I found stuff I liked ;)
Dayum, it's looking fine! Shield even doesn't feel so out of place now either, now that it's not just a block sheet :P (I know I know, wip blocking out etc) (and yes, I saw lots of replies to my last post on the matter. I guess I'm not used to d&d so much in this regard)
XD! Thanks Joey, I appreciate it ^^ I agree with you, y'know ;) I don't play DnD myself. At first, when I saw Wizard and Druid got picked, I didn't know how to go about making them look different enough. During that conversation, people told me a druid isn't necessarily a spellcaster, that they often carry shields, etc. and I found it a little weird as well ;) But yeah, I guess it isn't that bad after all ^^
Looking great! i've got the previous two on the printer waiting for me to clean and cure them. I'll try to send you pictures later.
Thanks Jeremy :P I'd love to see those prints! Come join us on the Discord server and show us that :)
