Sorry if this has already been asked, have had a bit of a look - could I ask where you got the blinds from? My wooden venetian blinds just aren't able to cope with this sun on my south-facing study window, if they are facing down then they let too much light in and if they face up then I'm seeing reflected glare from various cars and windows outside, I can't win! Quite fancy the idea of optional pull down blinds that would completely cover the windows and even though they are likely expensive they will be cheaper than having someone come and fit them I bet
They ended up surprisingly expensive, especially when you buy them twice. However they’re from blindsbypost.co.uk - the ones I’ve fitted are called Stickfit and can be found under the No Drill category.
Good evening sir, long time no speak (cuz we are all busy 😁). You don’t half make me laugh, you keep saying sorry, but you are saying sorry to the congregation as we are here for a reason… to listen to you going on and on about stuff WE love. I could honestly watch your channel if you just spoke about eating noodles… oh wait 🤔 😂 Looking forward to watching that new video you just uploaded on to here. Will watch that in a few days time. All the best Lee
Enjoyed this update :), especially the appearance of your lovely little cat!
Keep being you, Mat. That’s what we love. So happy to see your health continuing to improve!
I've been thinking that one of the biggest reasons I have been watching Techmoan videos for the last ten years is; I just like seeing someone else interested in something. Mat, despite being a "boring old man" does have a way of conveying his interest and excitement for tech that really reminds me to enjoy stuff simply "'cause it's cool". I think we need more of that.
homepods do a pretty great job right? i've ended up with two minis on my desk and a full size (old model) on the floor under my PC desk in a 3-way-pair. the large one makes up for the minis having almost no bass.
I think they work really well for TV audio but the most important feature for me is the wireless connection to my projector.
So, you have somewhere to store bodies? Just asking - for a friend, you understand. Great video as always - it's like hearing from an old friend. Keep up the good work, Mat. Have a great weekend.
I always look forward to your videos and have been watching now for quite some time. thanks for all you do and the many hours of enjoyment.
Keep making the videos and we'll keep supporting and watching for as long as you care to. Cheers!
funny enough the 6 million dollar man is worth 3 billion in french.
Glad your health has improved. I get that it's not "over" but you certainly LOOK and sound better. - hope you also feel better.
glad you got the bigger screen. i would have done the same.
I was hoping you'd get the bigger screen, at least to try out! Thanks for indulging us. Here in Canada we've only had SpecSavers for a few years now and did not get their famous ads. Every time my wife drops something or I screw up something I'll quip "X should have gone to SpecSavers" to remind us of our Liverpool visits. I'll also say "See it, say it, sorted" for absolutely no reason. We speak a different language to each other. One more thing, you are looking very healthy. Not just compared to earlier this year but overall. Whatever you are doing keep it up.
Great video, so laid back and natural. Just a couple of remarks. The SpecSavers virtual trial of the specs looks ridiculous, the glasses look huge on your face and stick out both sides. The real thing is absolutely fine. I have trouble finding specs as most of them are just so boring. And a last one - When we went to Honfleur my daughter brought back a British Army bugle. Just what you need to remind you of Brittany . Perhaps it was the liberation parade that inspired it.
More cat!
Project vid was fine always good to learn something even though I have no intention of getting one.
Barely recogniseable as th bloke from earlier in the year looking and sounding so much better. 😁. Love the sour Northwest humour...
You mentioned nobody was interested in projector screens. I am a huge home cinema nerd and use a motorized projector screen myself. I admit: The projector screen videos were the first videos from you I didn't watch. I normally watch everything and love it. But I was just afraid to watch them. Why? Because it is my number one hobby. I use projectors and home cinemas since the late 90s. I know quite a lot about it. And therefore I was afraid to be triggered to comment on every single stupid detail. So I thought: I can't watch that. It pushes so many buttons that it just would be better to skip it. So the reason was not that I'm not interested. I was just too interested. I also don't watch car reviews of cars I love because I fear they just tell me how bad they are. And I din't want you to have a bad experience with projectors and I'm sitting in front of the TV and yell "BUT PROJECTORS ARE GREAT, THEY REALLY ARE". Sounds stupid? Yeah, I know. It is a hobby you can spend from 1000 to 1.000.000. I admit I spend what others pay for cars but other than in the late 90s: Today you can get decent quality for budget prices.
I understand completely. I’m the exact same way with other people’s videos about things I’ve already featured in the past or might want to feature in the future. If someone were to make a video about Minidiscs I’d most likely purposely avoid it because either it would be repeating everything I already knew or it would be getting so much wrong that I’d get frustrated. Double that if it were someone who wasn’t born when the products were on the market. Triple that if they were to make a video with a surprised face in the thumbnail. Quadruple it if the title of the video included a number ‘ten things…’ I could go on, but yes I steer well away from anything that could annoy rather than entertain.
love the humour of the locker nieghbour conversation. hope they assumed it was a joke. haha
the glasses make me think should have called it a Specmoan skit lol
That clip of you doing the virtual try-on with your new glasses was reminiscent of you doing your impression of Jim Phelps (or Dan Briggs) listening to an M.I. mission briefing tape. BTW, I've got a pair of those "serial killer" style frames, but in sunglasses and have a new pair of similar ones on order but with my usual multi-focal lenses. The gold Casio watch is super-cool! I was only moderately a fan of The Six-million-dollar Man TV show, but when you brought out that metal plaque, I immediately wanted one. Google Translate says you could have asked to buy the plaque of: "L'homme à six millions de dollars" while you were in Normandy. Anyway, I hope it finds it's way to a place of honor among all the other items displayed in the background shelf. Your conversation of getting a dead body into your projector screen box sounds like the casual joke Alfred Hitchcock was fond of. Maybe that's not just him, but a typical British sense of humo(u)r? Stay Frosty, Mat (don't know why I typed that, but it sounds cool).😎
I think the British dark sense of humour comes from a similar place as the Mexican day of the dead stuff. There’s fun in the things you ‘don’t talk about’.
Love the Odd casts, and the normal videos of course. Looking forward to the record player one. No food reviews this time?
I think the food reviews have probably run their course.
That's a nifty G-Shock! I'm planning on getting one soon. There's something very satisfying about them. They have a clearly-defined identity (keep on working, no matter what) and over the years they've become a true style icon. I love that there's a rich modding community, too.
Think I'm on #4 now, the GW-9500. I did prefer a metal band, but my last one had the piece of plastic the band attaches to wear out and crack after 20-some-odd years, so I thought it was time for a new one. Also when I finally had the battery replaced a few years ago the gasket stopped being waterproof, so the crystal will occasionally fog up. Trying to decide if I should order a whole set of replacement parts to get it back in working order.
Had a blood test myself yesterday, and today I find out I'm pre-diabetic, to add to my myriad of other health issues. Looks like it can be reversed if I'm careful with what I eat. It's odd, as I'm not in any of the high risk categories. They'll follow me up with another test in six months.
I’ve never understood Type 2 Diabetes. You’ll get the healthiest looking people telling you they’re Type 2 while the most unhealthy individual gets off scott free.
Somehow I knew you'd end up getting that bigger screen! This was a great Oddcast with the bonus follow up and cat cameo. The question is what movie will be / was first up at Cinema Techmoan?
The Mrs wanted to watch Jurassic Park (again) in 3D. I suspect she’ll change her mind twenty minutes in.
Thanks for sharing
I do envy your Six Million Dollar Man plaque, wherever you got it from.
I am sorry to disappoint you, but I think the glasses look less serial killer and more Cliff Richard in the Wired for Sound video!!!! Only joking, I like them.
I’m thinking more Linda Carter’s Diana Prince / or Christopher Reeve’s Clark Kent
Chairs. It could be since when the MRI is installed it is tuned according to the magnetic response of the site and a modification in magnetic response can slightly alter the results. Maybe the chairs are non magnetic ones.
I think they just want access to the safe.
Nice update! Thanks! I was a professional (non-home) cinema tech for 28 years so I’m enjoying your adventures in home cinema. When people would find out about my career they would often ask home cinema questions (even though I never worked on home cinemas) and I always gave the same advice “you need to find what works best for you and you situation.”
Nice and short. :) I do think you could do with less being sorry for showing and rambling about stuff. If someone don't like a topic they should have the capacity to skip it. I can't be the only one who literally wants to see the rambling behind stuff that can't be published publicly but are still interesting.
It's just self deprecating humour. I suspect it doesn't travel well.
I would take you up on the offer of the 84 inch screen... But I fear it's larger than my Smart Car 🤣
If it’s a convertible it can be transported upright. I brought home a Christmas tree that way once.
Fowey. I've been there, I stayed nearby in Golant. There is a remote recording studio in Fowey called Sawmills, it's popuar with artists who do not want to be disturbed. I stayed in a very odd holiday home, at high tide it's under water and the pub is inaccessible unless you have wellies. I do like that watch. I like the beading idea, I would've used something like electrical tape or other black tape but then again i generally should be kept away from such things :) Don't worry about not taking things that work that aren't easy to take apart, I do prefer seeing the guts of electronics but if it's destructive then I understand. It's always a shame when your videos underperform because they are all worth watching. I like everything about the channel, the content, your presentation style, the videography, everything. What did you do to the dynamite 8-track players? They seem to have been disturbed during the video. Serial killer glasses? Jokes about moving bodies? Are you sure you don't have bones under the patio? Is the unseen Mrs. Techmoan your Rose? i likes thoses vinyls containerss. i mights looks intos ( i give in) I like those vinyl storage boxes, I will see if they do CD ones for my collection as I can envision some interesting layouts. Not dying yet? Oh well, you'll just have to keep creating niche content for us weirdo Patreons that not only relish your content but pay a monthly fee for it. I wonder how many people have hit their head on that safe? At least they are in the right place for it. I like the Six Million Dollar Man thing, it looks fun.
Fowey appears to be in a very tiring part of the country to drive around - except on a motorcycle. The 8-Tracks hide a Jackery that I'd taken out to charge up.
Nice new specs! With the last few pairs of glasses I've bought I've used a virtual try-on, which is quite good for getting a rough idea of how they might look on me before trying them on properly in-person. Always found it helpful way of making a bit of a short-list, so I don't spend all day in the opticians picking out a pair!
Yes that's what I did too, but since they didn't stock the other pair on my shortlist it boiled down to these.
Great video, Mat - thanks. I was wondering, though, whether your neighbours have ever expressed concern that you appear to open parcels in your garden, while talking to yourself.
Fortunately I'm not overlooked and at the moment there's also no one home on either side.
Glad to hear things are looking up on the health end ☺️
Reminders of the 8 track video on the white board in the garage.
Yes the Muntz 4-Track video is the last time I needed to use it.
I ordered the same kind of window blinds, as I have huge windows, they were expensive... Let's see, I hope next summer not to wake up to early every day because of the direct sunlight and it can keep my apartment a bit cooler.
Have you got them up already? There’s still plenty of early morning light at the moment.
Attempting to keep it brief today: • Oddcasts are peculiarly comforting to watch and to listen to. Especially lengthy ones. • The black spectacles look quite fine. 😃 • The perfectly sized screen is splendid. • A cameo appearance of Bees Knees is a lovely bonus. • Sound Burger hints and a future record player video intrigue me. Thank you and take care 🤍
You can get curved projector screens. They are mainly used for VR racing weirdos. Expensive! I have been looking for a projector that can handle a curved screen (no focus required) but they are laser and also bloody expensive.
Yes you’re getting into professional flight sim territory.
What do I have to ask for in Specsavers to get a pair of Mat frames?

This is exactly my kind of YouTube Short, cheers Mat!
Short? 1' 13" LOL. 😂
Am liking the new short format 😄
Bad timing—I’d love to watch this now, but I’ve got “chores” to do right now. Looking forward to watching it in a few hours.😀
