Watch out for spam nonsense in the comments
I get an email every time someone posts a comment on Patreon.
I've just had dozens showing that a new Patreon user who called himself Techmoan CREATOR has replied to Patreon comments suggesting there's a giveaway and people should use Telegram to claim it.
I'm sure everyone here knows that I don't do giveaways and I don't use Telegram.
I've blocked the user but I think the comments remain. I'm going to try and delete them all, but it'll take me a few minutes.

If we trust these scammers, every people with at least a beginning of popularity is giving away all they have (no offense on Matt here, he’s got a popularity that I can only dream of). Seriously, it’s the unwanted son of the mail « I’m a Saudi Arabia prince, my money for hundreds of millions is stuck in the bank, but if you just give 5000 dollars, I will give you half of these millions. » These scammers are really slowly evolving. The bright side of this is that normal people seems to evolve faster than these. One point for humanity. And Telegram, come on, you didn’t find something less awkward to try robbing people?
It's been a bit of a plague the last couple of years on the socials. Thanks for the warning, that Patreon has been deemed worthy of the attention of such criminals.

Yeesh. I knew they were thick on YouTube, but hearing they're doing it here on patreon now too is a surprise.
I have dealt with this time and time again on my own channel. It's annoying. And to make matters worse I just discovered today that I apparently have a prospering channel on Tik Tok..... even though I never created an account there.
It's a badge of honor, they don't spam nobodies.

Well the notification I've just had was for Techmoan CREATOR (still in capitals and serif text) but not Teachmoan, so maybe they've noticed (if it IS a person) and corrected the name. I'm assuming we won't see their name on the credits any time soon!

I am grateful that we're all mature enough not to comment with terrible puns about spam and other foodstuffs. Mat's already in a pickle dealing with the spam and saving our bacon from scammers.

It's done the rounds. I have seen a couple of videos where the channel owner has addressed it, showing the comments, the differences in user names and all that. Not the finest hour of YouTube but tell me you expected better from YouTube

For some reason Google’s sophisticated AI hasn’t reached their youtube comment spam filtering algorithm yet. Linus Tech Tips has made a video a couple years back with a potential solition: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zo_uoFI1WXM. Spam = Scam. YouTube don't seem to be proactive in preventing this, Instead only 'thanking' you for reporting it, but still sitting back and allowing spammers etc to create accounts and allowing the bots and sexbots to comment freely on various channels... As for the, obviously fake, ads and channels on it. I have reported tons of them and yet still they show. 😒
