British male apologises for the delay
…and any inconvenience it may cause.
Just a quick note to let you know that the video I was planning to have ready by now didn’t work out. That’s the nature of weird old tech - sometimes it lets you down. Then my idea to incorporate the footage I’d shot into another video also hit a snag when that thing turned out to be useless too. While I wait for a delivery of a third thing which might let me finally put a cap on this shambles I’ve moved on to making a quick simple video which should hopefully be ready before the end of the week.
In other news after a couple more intrusive medical appointments it turns out I probably don’t have prostrate cancer - so that’s something. My elevated PSA readings could be down to an infection but I’ll only find out after a month of antibiotics. I celebrated in the only way I know - by buying myself a refurbished iPad Mini.
For now it’s back to work as normal - thanks for your patience and understanding.

Similar story to my prostate journey,after umpteen tests and scans(thanks NHS) it's been agreed whilst I have very high psa and an enlarged prostate it sort of balances out! Bigger prostate =higher psa. Annual checks ate a MUST gentlemen! Do not ignore or be shy just get Dr to check
Talk about burying the lede; no video (boo but I understand), no cancer.... Great news fella. I know you don't want expressions of sympathy etc. so I'll just say I'm glad you don't have cancer because it'll mean more awesome tech vids for me.

It is in the nature of the videos you make that things will often go wrong or refuse to cooperate. We, your great unwashed public, look forward to the ones that work but completely understand when a recalcitrant gadget causes several days of work to end up gathering dust on a little-used hard drive. That's fine. We sympathise and wait. :-)

I've heard of some odd special editions, I suppose now Apple Car is no more they can do an iPad Mini. I still prefer the John Cooper Works Mini myself, but good news is good news so you do you 😁
My guess is that you brake, accelerate and steer the iPad Mini by swiping on a touchscreen😉

WHAT? I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU'RE DOING THIS TO US!1! Nah just kidding. I think I speak on behalf of everyone if I say that we would rather see a good video that takes a while to put together than a bad video that was done in a jiffy. And we're happy to hear about the medical windfall!
I hope you incorporate some footage of the failed attempts as snippets in the June oddcast though. Also I'm glad you're okay health wise.

If all else fails you could do a video on the iPad mini when it arrives. I have had a number of iPads over the last decade but have no idea how you do screen grabs.
I’ve been using it for a few days now. I don’t think there’s anything I can say that hasn’t already been said - but long story short, I’m enjoying using it and it’ll be great for travel, definitely more suitable for that than my iPad Pro.

The good news from the health front more than makes up for any delay. Plus, there are probably a lot of videos from before 2018 that I haven't seen yet, not to mention the Oddcasts from before 2022. And if I get really desperate, I could always read a book 😁

I too would say "fingers crossed" for a positive outcome on the prostate situation, but crossed fingers are usually the last thing you'd want involving a prostate.
Videos that don't pan out are almost as much of a pain in the arse as prostrate cancer checks. Fingers crossed for a good outcome, and hours of video-editing focus.

As soon as I knew the iPad 6 wasn’t being updated I bought a refurb and not regretted it. It’s a perfect complement to the iPad Pro! Delighted to hear your good news too even if the (bought) kit let you down!

Here's hoping your PSA levels drop after the month of antibiotics. I didn't realize that "process of elimination" is how they determined if you had PC. Guess I thought they had some ironclad scan by now.

Good news about the health - nice you are sharing as typically us blokes don't talk about such things. With regards to videos it's quite frustrating when things stop working. I tried to do a Sinclair Microdrive video the other week (re felting the carts on the cheap) - I tested beforehand and almost of the carts worked (annoyingly as I wanted some failures) and when attempting to record it both of the Microdrive units stopped reading! I gave up.
That sounds so familiar.
No apologies needed; although I appreciate you're still here and letting us in on your progress. The update on your health is a real relief as well. You must also feel relieved that my promise to sit and chat with you about films before you die won't be in the immediate future. 😂 And you've got fjords to look forward to in 1 ½ weeks, that'll be awesome.
