Levelled up innit. .

in case you missed it yesterday. . Here's my first public facing stream in a while. . .

So. . . the short and the long of it is, I have been working extremely hard on upgrading my rig. I've got much more detail about this on my tech blog which tech-tier patrons can bore themselves with. But, suffice it to say, I've levelled up.

The levelling up process is not complete however; there is much more that will continue to change and improve dramatically. And my intention is to give you guys a reduced beardytron you can own and actually use.

I am in the process of building out a new internal infrastructure within the beardytron's control mechanisms, looping engine, and audio routing schema. There is a brand new control app now in use, "Isomorph", built to facilitate live production, the first of its kind. There is MUCH more to be said about this, but in short, nothing like it has ever existed, it is capable of things no controller has even been able to do, and it will be available to buy this year. It can be seen on the bottom left ipad. As soon as it is in beta i will let y'all know.

The top left ipad is running a custom TOSC template designed and developed by me and the brilliant Karolis. This will also be available soon. I have been debating with the tech tier patrons, exactly what the releasable version of this should include, as in, should we release just the looper and no effects to start with, or have the base offering include turnado FX presets. . I am currently leaning toward the latter. . . but i'm open to your thoughts, ya'll.

Choosing to incorporate pre-existing samples into the rig was a decision that took some deliberation. I have always had sounds other than beatbox in my rigs over the years, but every time I do it, i wonder if it's the right thing to do. This time i did much hand wringing, as I had previously put samples into this thing and subsequently taken them out. The approach I'd taken previously relied on basically making songs in the rig and performing them in a fairly rigid playback format, which is a nice idea, but this time I have centred around the idea of more open improvisation which is a much more fun and lightweight on the workflow and rig build.

Next to go in will be video playback. This will enable me to execute the "we're gonna need a sample" show i started during the pandemic but have not had the requisite tech to execute. I have performed an exhaustive search of all off-the-shelf solutions to make this work, and I will be spending time to integrate this stuff as soon as I've completed the intended progress on the tron. This has already been a long message, but in terms of what i've been up to and the decisions taken to make it all work, this has barely touched the sides. . so i'll do a long blog post in the tech tier about it for anyone who wants to know more. . .in the meantime. . . enjoy the weird, weird, fruits of my weird labours in the form of the attached, weird stream. It's sonically dope. . . . SAY NO TO SKRENGE!!!!
