The New Yonder of Disease (Part 2: Maps)

Hello there! Back with Part 2 of Narcissa's content today and it's a hefty one!

Narcissa's realm is one of the most radically changed in the remake. Disease and blight don't really thrive in desolate wastelands; thus I wanted to move away from that. Where disease and blight do thrive is moist and pheromone-ridden overgrowths, dense with mushroom clusters and all sorts of living microorganisms pumping sickly sweet scents to attract their next victims. Narcissa's new realm is a dense mushroom forest spotted with swamps of deliciously sweet acid and gigantic roots sometimes exposing themselves above ground. There is a thick pheromone mist in exterior spaces at all times, spotted with fireflies and other flying insects, which makes visibility harder and (if inhaled long enough) slowly damages you in both mind and body. This is a real danger; the poison spores will kill you and Narcissa's pheromones will melt your brain into lustful insanity if you stay outside her crumbling keep for long enough. However, you heard her Plague Doctor mention a mask you can wear to allow for more comfortable breathing...

Narcissa's crumbling keep is little more than a ruin nowdays, with colorful vegetation growing from the floors and climbing the walls, while the mycelium's thick roots are constantly reclaiming more and more space. The Wasting Rotunda is Narcissa's throne room and it connects directly to the Mycelium, a ginormous room that houses the fungal heart of the realm and connects you to other rooms like Narcissa's bedroom, her dimensional portal, her vault, and the Womb of Plagues.

The Vile Princess is always in search of new strains and viruses to release to the world, but has to make sure they will cause a sufficient amount of pain and destruction. The Womb is an underground laboratory of sorts where unfortunate mortals are kept in stasis chambers and exposed to experimental strains for extended periods of time. The effects are noted and recorded, and if the strain is deemed sufficient enough it's then released to the world, otherwise it gets subjected to further mutations. This is all a bit too scientific and boring for Narc though; she gets direct pleasure from every disease that she spreads and the more damage it does the better, but the actual process of perfecting the ideal strain requires patience that she isn't known for. The Womb of Plagues is instead ran by her faithful Plague Doctor, the original patient zero of the Black Plague all the way back in the medieval period, and her highest accomplishment. He is a mutated hunk of a being now, subjected to way too many strains and way too much torment for any normal human, too ugly to ever take his corvid mask off (and is in fact disallowed to do so by the Princess, she doesn't like uglies). He is still obsessed with her though, his hatred for what she did to him only making his adoration and servitude to her stronger. If Narcissa were to get fascinated by a new person, say a Champion perhaps, he would definitely become so very jealous...

Hope you like the new design for the Yonder! It's a significant change, but I think it's a lot better than before. Please let me know of your opinions!

Grandfather is most pleased by the new realm of Narcissa. If there’s going to be more thematic enemies with each realm, some giant insects or plague ridden beasts would be very fitting
