Wow, you caught on to so many things that took me by surprise the first time. The scene where the inners are spaced including Doris was a complete shock (it wasn't in the book so I was totally unprepared!) and yet you knew it was coming right away! It was the juxtaposition of her joy at zero G and floating and saying good bye and then, whoosh, out she goes! And also catching Naomi's flinch when Prax asks her about having children. Awesome pickup. Someone mentioned that she is referring to family when she says she "never got to say good bye " in S1E4, but (again, having read the books) I thought she was referring to Holden. She had loved him for a while before he noticed her. Anyhow, could be either one.

Honestly, I don't know why I suddenly felt like that was coming! Just everything we'd been hearing that episode about how much anger the belters (both on Tycho, with Dawes, and even on that refugee ship) felt toward inners, coupled with the way the workers on the ship clearly didn't want Prax to go with them... it all felt like something bad was coming! As for Naomi - Prax just seemed so sure that obviously, she must have a child, based on what she said. Her facial expression, his certainty, and then my realization that they probably wouldn't have included that little statement from him for no reason, all made me suddenly think "Oh wow, she has a kid!" After Naomi and Holden got together, when I was reflecting back on episode four of season one, I also found myself thinking Naomi had been talking about not getting to say goodbye to Holden. But now, I just don't know!

Very perceptive on many levels. You might also add to your Amos analysis that after Amos first spoke to Cortazar, he explained Cortazar to Holden by comparing Cortazar’s interest in the protomolecule to a pedophile’s interest in children.

Thank you! And oh wow, that's a great point, thank you for reminding me about that. Oh poor Amos... now I'm even more nervous to find out about his childhood trauma. Really makes Alex's question "What happened to you" stand out even more. :(

Don't know if you caught it Molly but Prax is played by Terry Chin aka Chuckles from BSG and many other shows and movies as well :)

Would someone be so kind as to explain to me what it means that someone is a G? Because I’m not a native English speaker, but Nikki and Steven react said multiple times that Arya is a G, and Daenerys is a G, too, and they love them both, so I assume that it’s not necessarily a derogatory term - actually, I think that it’s the opposite. All this is just because I want to say: Cara Gee is a G! Thanks.

Yeah, I'm a native English speaker and I feel like I'm listening to Lang Belta and need subtitles when listening to some of the other reacters. G is from rap culture and means "gangsta" , which I guess means badass. When Drummer executed the terrorists, she was a G. I guess those terrorists were also G's, but in the literal sense, lol.

"Do you hear that beeping too?" .... I love how Amos things he's imagining the beeping

Camina Drummer don't play lol The more I think about it, you should read the novella The Churn Amos back story, there's no spoilers :) Thanks Molly <3

I agree - I'm going to have to jump on amazon and place an order within the next few days!

This is the episode where Drummer became my number one badass in the Sol system. The shocked looked on Alex's face as she grabs his gun and executes the terrorists and walks off by herself.. totally badass. There's a nice little easter egg and it's a little hard to catch, but the Tycho traffic controller announces "Jefferson Mays you are cleared to dock in Berth 14". - the refugee ship that Prax arrives on. Jefferson Mays is the narrator for the majority of the Expanse audio books. Nice analysis of Amos and seeing what's really going on there.

Hah! I've never caught that. Now that you mention it, there was something else from this episode i wanted to point out, now for the life of me i can't remember what it was

I always love this episode, it's really well done. All the subplots actually are all interconnected. Remember in S1E4 Naomi said she never got to say goodbye, and Amos who you found out in S2E1 when he was cutting open the safe has a very long history working side by side her and had no idea what she was talking about. Holden's focus is singular on getting rid of the Protomolecule, whereas Fred wants it if it is still going to exist, he's strategic. He has his side, whereas Holden wants no sides. Those are very big differences, going to the core of who they are.... and very hard to reconcile. But between stealing the Nauvoo (which you can imagine the owners of Tyco Corporation aren't too happy about) and the insurrection, does Fred really have any power left?

D
Dan Guisinger · March 31, 2019

Oh yeah, and in S1E5 (i think that is it), Naomi tells Fred he has their statements, and that in exchange, someday she'll come to him with a name and ask him to find that person
