Update - Weekend Plans and 2019 Goals!
Hi everyone! As some of you may have noticed (from YouTube), I am playing in the official Mortal Kombat 11 beta at the moment! The beta extends through Sunday, March 31st and is currently taking up a lot of my free time. However, I don't want to leave anyone hanging on here, if you're uninterested in MK11! With that in mind, my other plans for content this weekend include the next full episode reaction of Penny Dreadful (hopefully to be filmed tonight and then posted) and the next full episode reaction of The Expanse (likely filmed and posted tomorrow evening). Then the shorter edited reaction of The Expanse episode, which you receive early access to, would be out on Sunday!
Also, I'm sure those of you who are Game of Thrones fans know that the new (and final season) begins in a couple of weeks, on Sunday April 14th! I will be creating reaction videos for each new episode. I'll likely also be creating little discussion videos to theorize in between episodes. There are only six new episodes this final season - meaning these videos will only span six weeks, sadly.
However, I have finally convinced my father - who is very entertaining and somehow has never managed to watch even one episode of Game of Thrones - to sit down with me and do a reaction series to the whole show, starting from the beginning! I'm so excited about this because I've been wanting to get him watching it for years and now I can share the experience with all of you! We will probably start filming that shortly.
Throughout 2019, there are a number of shows coming out, on top of this, that I hope to add to my roster. I imagine that most of these won't even be released until I'm finished with (or almost finished with) the first three seasons of The Expanse - so, please don't worry that this'll take away from that! Anyway, here is a list of some shows (besides Game of Thrones and The Expanse Season 4) that I am currently thinking of reacting to in 2019:
1) Mindhunter Season 2
2) Stranger Things Season 3
3) HBO and BBC's new adaptation of His Dark Materials
4) HBO's new adaptation of Watchmen
If any of you have other ideas or thoughts of series you'd like to see me watch in the upcoming year, feel free to message me or comment down below! And of course, on top of this, I'll be continuing my MK11 videos as the game is released and developed from the end of April throughout the summer (picture of the beautiful Jade attached).
Thanks everyone and happy Friday!
All the best,
Molly

You might consider the Picard show that's supposed to be coming this fall, though the lack of CBS All Access reactions on YouTube suggests they've got a zero-tolerance policy.
Yes, I definitely want to watch this! I do believe CBS cracks down hard on all YouTube videos containing their material. They own Showtime and they're the reason I ended up having to make Penny Dreadful a patreon/google drive only show. So, you may be right about that. I want to see that show though - TNG was a huge part of my childhood and I am really excited about it! So, maybe it could be another patreon only series if YouTube doesn't work out?
Nice, I think the idea with ur dad is cool!!! I'm looking forward to it, and I hope u keep it spoiler free for him. I've seen other reactions where someone already saw the show, and it got me all nervous saying things, staring at the other person when someone was about to happen, etc.. .lol.... On the other hand, I would love to see u reacting to the amazing spanish show Money Heist (La casa de Papel), 3rd season being filmed now.
Thanks, I'm glad you're looking forward to it! I'll try my best not to spoil him with glances or anything like that. He will definitely not be hearing any direct spoilers from me though. He may ask and I will refuse because I want to see his real responses. One of the funniest movie watching moments of my life was my sister and I forcing my dad to watch the Romeo and Juliet adaptation (with Leo D'Caprio and Claire Danes) with us, and him becoming FURIOUS at the end when they both died. He insisted that "he thought they'd obviously change the ending for a movie so it wouldn't be so sad!" Oh dad... you crazy person. He's not going to handle certain deaths on GoT very well lol and it's going to be great.
Looking forward to BBC His Dark Materials. The audiobooks are pretty good too. Pullman narrates and the characters are voice acted and they do an excellent job. My favorite is The Subtle Knife.
Me too! I was very excited when I heard about this upcoming adaptation. I haven't heard the audiobooks but the idea of Pullman narrating with voice actors included definitely appeals to me!
Hi Molly, Looking forward to your season 8 game of thrones reviews. Funnily enough I recently convinced my mum to watch game of thrones as she had never seen it before, we have just got to the end of season 4 and should just about have finished all 7 seasons by the time the new season comes out. Since I had read all the books prior to watching the show I went in with quite a bit of foreknowledge when I watched it previously, however I had not realised how difficult it is for a more casual viewer to follow who all the characters are or to be clear on where in the world things are happening until I watched it with someone who had no prior knowledge. Might be worth having some maps and non-spoiler family trees/a who’s who guide to hand just in case your dad has the same issues. I’ll be watching Stranger Things Season 3 and will most likely give Watchmen a go (although I hope it is good, I am concerned it might deviate too far from source and lose what made the comic special originally, but we shall see.) I am not sure how you feel about Anime but I recently finished watching a Netflix series called – Hi Score Girl. It is a great little show, especially if you want some serious nostalgia for 90’s handheld, arcade and console gaming. I think it would be a good show to review/react to as it could potentially expand your reviews into another genre and further expand the audience base for your budding channel and it would fit well with your Mortal Kombat material – it features a number of references to Mortal Kombat in the show. Also, It does not seem to have been reacted to that much on youtube, just got a renewal for a second season which is due in October, has fairly short episodes (about 23 – 25 minutes each) and is funny, a little bit weird, touching in parts and well written. I’m in the UK so we sometimes get shows on different channels/streaming services than you do in the US which might mean some of the below will be shown in a different place in the US but I’ll probably be watching the following shows this year, some of them might be worth considering - The Twilight Zone The Witcher (Netflix) – To fill the fantasy void after GOT ends and we endure the long wait for The Long Night . Lord of the Rings (Amazon) – Not sure if this will actually be out this year or not. WestWorld S3 (HBO) The Man in the High Castle S4 (Amazon) The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (Netflix) Snowpiercer (Netflix) Jessica Jones S3 (Netflix) Cobra Kai (YouTube) The Mandalorian (Disney+) - Not sure about this one but maybe. Black Mirror (Netflix) – Not sure if there is going to be any new black mirror episodes this year but this show is top notch and well worth watching. Best wishes.
Hey Ross! Thank you so much for this thoughtful and detailed response! Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I've been going a bit crazy over the past couple of days, dealing with the YouTube scammer issue. Thank you for the suggestion about making certain that I have some reference materials on hand when I sit down to begin watching GoT with my dad. It's great you pointed that out because I also went into the show with a great deal of background knowledge (thanks to the books). So, it was not particularly difficult for me to keep track of all of the characters and locations. However, dad may need a bit of help lol. Luckily, I have The World of Ice and Fire on hand and I'll pull up some maps (and pull out the old character guides from my season one DVDs I haven't touched in a few years). Hopefully, those things will all help him keep track. I know the Dock Doctor reaction channel also makes a big "board" with all the character names and general locations. Maybe I could do something like that as well. Also, I hope your mom has been enjoying Game of Thrones! She clearly made it past the RW and persisted, so, she must be invested by now! :) I understand what you mean about Watchman. My current stance is "cautiously optimistic." I have a feeling they are going to be changing things quite a bit because from everything I've heard, it's less of an adaptation and more of a continuation of the story (somehow). I'm not sure how I feel about that yet but HBO has a good track record and the cast seems crazy good so far. So, I'm hoping for the best! Thank you for the television show suggestions! I'll definitely look up Hi Score Girl! I don't have a ton of experience with anime, to be honest, but it does sound interesting to me, given everything you've written here re: the themes of the show, Mortal Kombat, and 90s nostalgia! Also, omg I cannot BELIEVE I forgot about the Amazon Lord of the Rings adaptation, JJ Season 3, and The Witcher. Yes! I'll definitely be watching all of them as well as Westworld Season 3, if it is this year. For some reason, I assumed the next season of Westworld would take longer to produce (maybe just based on the long gap between seasons one and two). But if season 3 is out this year, I'll be watching it, without doubt! Whether or not I react to all of them immediately after they premiere will probably partially depend on when exactly they come. But I do want to see them all, so, they are now all on my list haha. I have seen some of Black Mirror so, I wasn't sure about reacting to it, given it wouldn't all be a surprise. But that's always a possibility too. I've also heard great things about The Man in the High Castle and Snowpiercer. The Twilight Zone, I'm less sure about because it's going to be on CBS All Access. From what I've seen so far, CBS is rough on reactors (they're the reason I have to do Penny Dreadful as a patreon only show at this point, rather than a YouTube series). Maybe they'll loosen up though. I kind of hope so because I want to watch the new Picard series! I'll look up the rest of the shows you mentioned as well. Thank you so much once again - you jogged my memory about a bunch of series I want to watch! :)
Please look into Banshee. Top shelf storytelling :)
haven't seen that one, what is it about?
If you ever have free time (unlikely I know), a great show on BBC America last year was Killing Eve, I think it was 8 episodes long. It also debuts a new season this April. Netflix recently came out with a series of short animated films (Only 7-15 minutes each) called Love Death + Robots, advertised as NSFW for nudity, language, and violence. If you hate one episode, it doesn't mean anything for the next one as they are an anthology and have nothing to do with each other. Some are traditionally animated, others are CGI, others are an interesting mix or style. I binged it in 3 days in my spare time. Something else I found fun (and short) a while back was a 6-episode series on Amazon called Comrade Detective... its a buddy-buddy style detective series done in 1980's style, except they placed it in the soviet union.... using romanian actors speaking romanian, then dubbed it in english with well known actors to make it look like they found a long lost film.... (yes, its a comedy).... there are reviews from people furious that its a communist propeganda film from amazon, they clearly don't get the whole thing is a joke. Just like in the 1980s american TV constantly made the Russian's the bad guys, this flips that on its head and makes the American's the bad guys. Its got 4 out of 5 stars, I don't know if they will ever do another season.
Thank you for these suggestions! I'm a little uncertain as to whether or not I'd be able to do reactions to Love Death & Robots on YouTube, given that I'd be including the majority of the short films in my videos (and that may disqualify them for fair use). But possibly that could be a Patreon only thing? Also, I actually did watch Comrade Detective! I agree that it's a ton of fun and I'll definitely watch more if they ever do another season. As for Killing Eve, I watched season one and loved it! That is actually a great idea because I'll definitely be watching season two. So, might as well react to it as well, right? Haha. Do you know when in April it premieres? I'll likely need to get it through amazon, which is fine - I just need to know when so I can prepare myself lol.
