Slaying Longbow

Weapon (longbow), legendary (requires attunement by a good-aligned creature)

This powerful longbow originally served a solar, one of the mighty celestials that guard the heavens from evil. Normally unwieldy in the hands of mortals, this bow was bestowed upon a heroic human centuries ago and has been carefully passed down ever since. When you hit a creature with a ranged attack using this magic weapon, it takes an extra 2d8 radiant damage.

In addition, when you roll a 20 on a ranged attack roll made with this bow against a creature that has fewer than 100 hit points, it must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or die. On a success, a creature takes an extra 6d8 radiant damage from the hit instead. A creature automatically succeeds on the saving throw if it is good-aligned or has legendary actions.

Someone's doom means hope for others.
One divine deed to bring weal and woe.
Look into your heart and judge yourself.
Are you worthy of what comes next?
Rest assured, we will know soon enough.

is the 6d8 on top of the crit damage or does that get doubled too

It would be doubled! Same as with the Vorpal Sword.

On a natural 20, do good-aligned or legendary creatures get to save to avoid the 6d8 (or half it), like other creatures can save to not die? Just curious, because other creatures get a "save for nothing" but, right now, good and legendary creatures get a straight "take damage"... which seems counter-intuitive to the items apparent theme. I'd recommend having most creatures die if they don't save, take extra damage if they do, and having good or legendary creatures take damage if they don't save, take half damage if they do... just a suggestion.

Yep, you're right. I grabbed wording from two sources that made for some overlap there. Revised this to address the gap in its mechanics. Thanks!
