Gloves of the Deft Duelist

Wondrous item, rare (requires attunement)

If you're holding a different weapon in either hand and are wearing these gloves, you can use your reaction when you miss with an attack roll using one of those weapons to reroll it. You must use the new result. If the new attack roll hits, it deals an extra 1d6 damage of the weapon's type.

Face Me! When you roll initiative or as a bonus action on a following turn, you can choose to shout a challenge at a creature that you can see within 30 feet of you. For the duration, the target must make a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw the first time it attempts to move away from you on each of its turns. On a failed save, it can't move away from you until the start of its next turn. This effect lasts for 1 minute. It ends early if you attack any other creature, if you cast a spell that targets a hostile creature other than the target, or if you end your turn more than 30 feet away from the target. This property can be used twice, and it regains all expended uses of it daily at dawn.

Surveying the battlefield atop his steed, the captain spurred it to a slow trot as his men fought and died in ranks before him. So long as his standard flew, he knew they wouldn't dare break ranks; after all, he could do far worse than mere soldiery.

Then, above clashing steel and dying screams came a voice clear and deadly. Where his lines bent inwards, a lone figure smashed through. He knew this warrior too well: a tattered coat, once identical to his own, streamed behind her, and he could feel her battlehungry glare from beneath her shuttered helm.

His first reflex—to turn his horse and flee—was crushed beneath the weight of her challenge, and he reined instead to ride her down.

In their clash of destiny, her twin blades rang with fury against his bannered spear. Her strikes grew more ferocious as his faltered, ushering him towards futility, and with a final, horrible sound, his standard—and his men—finally fell.
