Beetle Blades
Weapon (scimitar), rare (requires attunement)
This pair of swords counts as a single item for the purpose of attuning to them. You gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with these magic weapons; this bonus extends to any Strength check you make or Strength save DC used when you attempt to shove a creature.
While holding one of the swords, you can use an action to cause the other one to teleport to your empty hand or to the ground at your feet (your choice). When you do, the blade reappears in a plume of minuscule insects.
Hurl. When you take the Attack action while holding both swords, you can choose to forgo making any attacks to instead force a creature within 5 feet of you that's no more than one size larger than you to make a DC 15 Strength saving throw. On a failed save, the blades come together to grab and throw the creature up to 20 feet away from you and knock it prone. If the thrown target strikes a solid surface, the target takes 1d10 bludgeoning damage for every 10 feet it was thrown. If the target is thrown at another creature, that creature must succeed on a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw or take half as much damage and be knocked prone.
Insect Plague. While holding both swords, you can use an action to cast the insect plague spell from them (save DC 15). This version of the spell ends at the start of your next turn, instead of its normal duration, and doesn't require you to concentrate on it. For the duration, one of the two swords disappears (you choose each time); the sword reappears in your hand or at your feet when the spell ends. This property can be used twice, and the swords regain all expended uses of it daily at dawn.
I'd heard that the titan beetle was a scourge, and a beast of not only unbelievable strength, but one able to slip past the best planned defenses. But what truly drew me was a tale that it sought the strongest creatures in its territory, seeking conflict and victory.
Until it met me, that is. Stories of its power were no exaggeration, but neither were the stories of mine. So we strove, hunter against hunter, until finally I cleaved the beast in two, only to find it a hollow shell; a shell that burst into a thousand's thousand of tiny insects, buzzing like a storm about to break. Yet when I raised my arms to ward off the swarm, I opened my eyes to see one of the titan's great horns curling from either hand.
What the beast had sought was not a match, but a master. And these blades are proof it decided I was worth serving.

Love these. I'm a big fan of living technology and things made from harvested animal parts (shell armor, swords made from Hook Horror blades, etc), so... 👍👍.
Are you also a patron of Loot Tavern? Their crafting system is *heavily* Monster Hunter based and they do a lot of things like this!
