Hellion Sandals
Wondrous item, very rare (requires attunement)
These wooden sandals have a split toe, ending in a cloven hoof. To attune to the sandals, you must be wearing them for the entire attunement period. Afterward, your feet and legs magically transform into those of a hooved fiend, absorbing the sandals into your body; you choose the color of your legs' skin when you attune to them. The sandals can't be removed as long as you're attuned to them.
While attuned to the sandals, you have resistance to fire damage. In addition, your Intelligence and Charisma scores increases by 1, to a maximum of 20.
Hellion's Stomp. The sandals have 4 charges and regain 1d4 expended charges daily at dawn. While you're attuned to the sandals, you can use an action to expend 1 of their charges to stomp the ground beneath you and create a 30-foot line of smoldering earth and licking flames, originating from the ground at your feet. The line is 5 feet wide. Each creature within the line when it appears must make a DC 16 Dexterity saving throw, taking 6d6 fire damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one. The cracks cool immediately afterward, leaving behind scorchmarks and the smell of brimstone.
The armored dragonborn approached the now-grey tiefling and dropped a pair of sandals at his bare feet, breaking his focus on the wriggling, bejeweled koi in his palm.
“What are these, Fraeymryth?” asked the tiefling, softly. His eyes traced the dark wooden edges of the sandals—darkness that, he was almost certain, flickered with infernal flame.
The knight responded with a huff that wasn't mocking, but gentler. "You're looking to fill big shoes, your Highness," he rumbled, drawing a look of distaste from the tiefling at the title. He continued, "If you mean to step to the throne, you'll need to do more than just look the part." His gauntleted hand gestured towards the footwear. "You'll have to walk it, too, and usher in the Hells with every step."
