Hurricane Ian
Update 4:
Let there be light!
And air conditioning!
And internet!
And Phillip saw that it was good.

Update3:
Well, another year, another hurricane. I can’t say we came away completely unscathed as there is a pine tree in my front yard which took down the power lines. Said power lines are in my driveway, so I’m trapped at home listening to the soothing sounds of generators and chainsaws for the foreseeable future. Other than that, no damage, but I’ll be picking up tree limbs out of the backyard all day tomorrow. All said and done…the rain ended about 30 minutes ago…we got 11.5 inches of rain in 36 hours. The power and cable internet are both out and cellular data is a bit sketchy. On the bright side (quite literally) we might see a little sun before this evening.

Update 2:
Inevitably, I am going to lose internet access tonight or early tomorrow...and I can't say for how long. So, instead of posting the usual monthly updates this coming weekend, I'm going to send them out here shortly.

Update 1:
Nothing of significance to report from here. Just a lot of rain and some light winds. The bulk of the storm in still far south of here...we'er only getting the outer rain bands at this point. Conditions will of course deteriorate as the center of the storm coming fairly close to us around 8am tomorrow morning. Most of the forecasts show it weakening to tropical storm strength by the time it arrives here *fingers crossed* ...hardly the 150+ mph (240+ km/h) winds they're getting in southwest FL right now.
I do expect to lose internet some time during the night and probably have limited cell services tomorrow morning. Power isn't an issue, having installed a whole-house generator some years ago.
Though I did get all of my hurricane supplies and prep work done this past weekend, I did forget one thing...
Got the vodka and bloody mary mix this morning. :D
Again, this ain't my first rodeo.

This time five years ago, on my birthday no less, the wife and I were sitting in the dark listening to Hurricane Irma howl outside. That was immediately followed by a week with no power, water, internet, and little to no cell service.
Yeah, here we go again.
Soon to be Hurricane Ian (it's a tropical storm at the moment) is still well south of Cuba, but is expected to be offshore of Tampa late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning. For us, 60 miles inland, the most we will (probably) see is tropical storm force winds and a lot of rain. However, in hurricane terms, Wednesday is a long time from now and they have the annoying tendency of not going where the meteorologists predict they will.
This ain't my first rodeo.
I've got plenty of the usual hurricane supplies (fuel, water, food, etc), but this time around I won't be sitting in the dark with no air conditioning for a week. I had a whole-house generator installed the year after Irma came through. Internet and cell service, however, I don't have any control over so there is plenty of content scheduled for this coming week and the next.

Glad you're safe, dude!
Glad your doing okay. At least the tree is in the front this time and not in the house like last time. Be safe we'll see you when everything is back to routine.
Be safe Phil. I was just chatting with a friend outside Tampa who is waiting for this thing to hit. She said they were just starting to get some rain.
Have luck
you and your family be safe.
That week after Irma hit was rough. Be safe Phil
Be safe but you have been through them before
