Playable Demo: RTSKit, a top-down RTS starter for UE5
An RTS kit is something you have to play, not look at. A screenshot can't show a building ghost turning green when it fits, a wall run snapping into place, or an AI opponent quietly building a walled town while you are busy with your own. So here is the whole thing as a playable Windows build: the RTSKit V1.1 demo map, with research and production.
Unzip it and run WorldGen_Host.exe.
WHAT TO TRY
1. Put your villagers to work. Drag a box over them, then right-click a tree, a mine or a berry bush. They gather, carry the load home and the resource bar at the top left climbs.
2. Build something. Pick a building on the command card: the ghost is red where it can't go and green where it can. Hold Shift to keep placing. For walls, click to start the run and click again to finish, then drop a Gate into it.
3. Raise an army at the Barracks and the Archery Range, right-click with the building selected to set a rally point, and take it to the red faction. The AI gathers, builds and walls its own town, and defends it.
4. New in V1.1: build a Blacksmith and research Masonry. The Temple appears on your villagers' command card. Research Trade at the Temple to unlock the Market, which turns 10 Food into 5 Gold on a loop.
5. Press F5 to save and F9 to load. The whole match comes back, research included.
The demo resumes your last quicksave when it starts. For a fresh match, press F10 and choose Restart New Game.
CONTROLS
Mouse: left-click to select, left-drag to box-select, right-click to move, gather, help build or attack. Right-click with only buildings selected sets a rally point. Right-click while placing cancels.
Camera: WASD or the screen edges to pan, mouse wheel to zoom, Alt + right-drag to orbit, middle-drag to pan.
Keys: Shift keeps placing, Delete demolishes the selection, F5 / F9 quick save and load, F10 pause menu (Esc also closes it).
Mouse and keyboard only; there is no gamepad mapping in this version.
