CityGen V1.3 — Thousands of Lights with Zero Light Actors
CityGen V1.3 just shipped on Fab, and the new release brings a full day/night cycle to the procedural city. Buildings light up at sunset, street lamps cast warm pools on roads, atmospheric fog shifts color with the sun — and there are zero point lights or spot lights in the scene.
The whole illumination system is driven by a single Material Parameter Collection scalar, written by a Time of Day actor, read by emissive materials on every window, lamp, and decal. One scalar. Six materials. Thousands of glowing lights with no performance cost from lighting.
