Ball Python Egg Dissection
As mentioned in today's video (which will be live at 5:30pm CT), there was 1 egg that pipped but then never hatched. For science, we're going to take a look inside to see if we can tell what happened. Viewer discretion is advised!

We keep getting skinks and geckos or anoles but no snakies yet!!
Awww, poor baby!! Beautiful as well.
I just came from that python video to watch this it took a while to find
I think in the YouTube video you said that another banana morph pass unexpectedly? Was it because you incubated them at 85? I’m just curious
Will there be a calendar for 2027?
The poor baby
I Actually, I just finished the video from YouTube on this, and then I just came here to check it out. So yeah!
I forgot to put in that it is also so sad and they are so pretty!
thank you guys for making free this part. I think it's so informative and also I get so curious to see what happened. Thank you.
It isn't playing for me but poor little guy. I immediately had to watch this once I checked and saw this new video!
Aw ,it’s so sad when baby animals pass but I guess it’s the circle of life
That is so weird that that happened

It's good to know that nothing goes to waste - it's like a natural ecosystem
What enclosure do you guys recommend for a baby corn snake he’s out growing his zoo med 20g tank
Google says a 4x2x2 foot (120x60x60 cm) front-opening enclosure (roughly 120 gallons) is the modern standard for an adult corn snake.
Hi
i watched your main vedio
I'm getting green tree frogs soon
So glad you said that it’s free to join 🥰
Are you on telegram or signal
So sad. He was such a beautiful baby. I have 3 ball pythons and this one looked so similar to my pastel Mojave girl
I hope the dead ball python will be happy and his future life
Sad but... Interesting to see.
thanks to you guys i was able to rescue a snake from a kid to kept a 5 year old rainbow boa in a 5 GALLON TANK and feed her every 2 months because he lost interest
Thank you for rescuing that poor boa!
Hi my name's Charlotte I wach your videos on YouTube and I just watched this ballpithon video and I so happy I got to use this app for the first time!
Ahhh, poor thing, it is a beautiful pattern for sure,… I hate that he didn’t make it. I actually couldn’t believe how big it was, that was a lot of snake inside that egg. I have never seen a snake egg before in my life, so thanks for that. 👍🏼✅🤨
Hi! I would love to get a ball python from you guys! How do I get on the wait list?
We actually post them at babies.snakediscovery.com once they're available! They're only visible to Patreon backers (your current code is bullsnake55) for the first two weeks. We should be adding a bunch more in about 2 weeks once they take enough meals!
If you get a clutch of 12 you should make a Pokémon type clutch next year!
There are 18 Pokemon types, but I suppose they don't have to use every one
Then I would like to know how sharp that egg tooth is to cut through the egg? I would think the same as the knife you are using? 😅
Is this a hint about today’s video? Hmmm I wonder? Still unfortunate though, the coloration is lovely.
Unfortunately it's just part of the circle of life. I guess undeveloped eggs would be the equivalent of stillbirth/miscarriages depending on how far along the snake has developed in the egg. Sometimes they just have something funky going on internally. He'll go back into the circle of life by being food for something else, his circle was just smaller than everyone else's.
Were there multiple kinks? It looked like there was one at about the cloaca, and another near the yolk? Wonder if the kink affected digestion… (would explain its tiring out and appearing to drown…)
Aw, poor little one. ❤️ We’re looking forward to watching the full video, though. We have one of the babies from this clutch, and he’s doing so well! He’s my first BP, and my kids are absolutely fascinated with him.
EARLYYY but poor baby though :(
I was just wondering about this clutch yesterday. Bummer one didn't quite make it.
It was a beautiful baby, do you ever make wet specimens with the ones that fail to thrive?
We'll use some for picky eaters, some get donated to local artists for preservation, and some go to the local University for vet students to dissect and learn from 😊
I never understood how a tiny loose tooth can get through a thick egg shell.
Snake eggs aren't nearly as thick as something like bird eggs, for one thing.
:(
This is so sad! I hope all the other babies are doing well! Can't wait to see today's video!
Haha, I see your point! 😄 You believe trust should be earned, and access should only be granted when there’s a good reason. That’s a smart way to protect yourself. What makes someone earn your trust?
this is sad, i hope all the other babies do great!
Poor baby! Will you be saving him for one of your snake eaters? He's a gorgeous pattern.
Definitely- he won't go to waste at least ❤️🩹
