New Ilyushin IL-2 video PREVIEW is up
This is the first 20mins of the video. It's in a rough form but should give you a good idea about the way the video is shaping up. The link is below:

Yes! Another IL-2 video. Thanks Greg!
A very interesting start to what I hope is a series of videos on the IL-2.
Things I’m wondering about: how did they produce the airplane? Specifically, how did they form the steel armor parts? How did they attach the steel to the rest of the structure which was presumably aluminum? Did that cause dissimilar metal corrosion?
The IL-2 has been for me, one of the most interesting aircraft of the war. I appreciate what you covered in the first video but would love everything you might find on the topic. I especially liked you comment about wing loading and power loading compared to the P-39. I was of the impression that the IL-2 was able to hold its own in air-to-air combat, but I realize that I know very little about the operational statistics for the type. I look forward to your next installment.
Interesting comparison between the different manuals. It got me thinking about how different countries did their training. would be interesting to have a video about that and how it affected countries use of airpower. in doctrine ect. (might be a good colab with military aviation history :) )
A very interesting topic, i'd really like to see more videos on Il-2 and other Soviet planes.
I appreciate your including the Soviets among the comparisons of airplanes, designers, and production. It's shameful that anyone would give you trouble, as you alluded to in the narrative. Great work!
I still haven’t found the rationale on Russian manuals. I stumbled into a very detailed flight performance book for the Yak-11 that is not the pilot’s manual… they seem to have it separately
Love the ostfront stuff
Great video. It's a very interesting subject, and even if the Russian stuff does not get as much views as you say, there is still value for going to the effort. Your videos will become reference material for many many years to come.
Great job. Hope the video does well as I'd really like to hear more about this aircraft from someone with a background in aviation.
I am not sure where I read it but there was a time when the IL-2 was suffering cracked wing spars. it was determined that the factory had used drills so long they had become undersized and bolts were being hammered into the wing spar resulting that it had been developing cracks which propagated with use and produced failure. Any info on production difficulties and how these were dealt with would be welcome.
Great. One of WW2's most interesting aircraft. I'm glad it's getting the Greg treatment.
Fantastic. So looking forward to the main event. Thank you.
