Engine Damage Video is UP
The engine damage video is up. https://youtu.be/dKuNXLenci4 . Please note it's still processing, so the high res may not be viewable until a few hours from this post.
This video started as a report on the damage to airplanes from a number of different weapons, but the engine part along got so bit it turned into it's own video, which is what you see here. I'll add the other stuff in the next video, which is almost done.
Additionally I updated the Drive today. The B-32 manuals are there as well as the report on aircraft damage I used in this latest video.
Thanks so much for your support.
Greg

a HE cannon shell did little to the plate, however it work on the pilots ear drums!
Something that occurred to me in watching this https://youtu.be/bdr4ngshWl8 --maybe it was obvious to others from your vids--is that hits from explosive (not armor-piercing) cannon shells might have been a poor choice against P-47's--from certain types of attacks--not that the pilot had a choice of which type of round happened to hit. You did mention in a video there was a brief delay and the duct work offered protection at the expense of the turbo system but in the example of Johnsons flying collender the three cannon shells that hit behind his head you can at least in the case of the hole on the left side behind the cockpit, it was an explosive round as the metal around it is pushed outward--not inward like an ordinary round. In the video there is an interesting photo of an explosive cannon round hole beside a bunch of control cables (B-17) that aren't damaged the slightest. I guess is what I'm saying is that, though unintentional, all that duct work was particularly effective at absorbing shrapnel and containing the damage to the turbo system. And I don't think an explosive cannon shell would have any effect whatsoever on the armor plate.
(as I understand it, the explosion from 20mm cannon shell is equal to 1/3 standard ww2 US pineapple grenade)
Greg, I would say don’t sweat someone else’s misconceptions and disinformation about Mach numbers. Your presentation is based upon research you have done and presented in a scholarly fashion.
Getting ready for a medical procedure atm, thanks for the welcome distraction!
Can you put that report up in the drive as well? I can't find it
It's there at the Capt level right now so you Jack, should be able to see it. For the lower tiers it will move down a couple videos from now.
There was a time when all kinds of ungodly stuff was required for my idea of a perfect Friday night. Now though, a new video from Greg's Airplanes and Automobiles and a jumbo bag of salted peanuts are all I need.
yeah.. I'm getting old too. 😂
