Fifa 22 Marquee Matchup Investing/Overview
Hey Guys,
I absolutely love Marquee Matchups for building coins on a low budget (or any budget) and this year it was extremely profitable.
There are some changes that may reduce the effectiveness in Fifa 22, but I still expect it to work.
One of the reasons Marquee Matchups worked so well in Fifa 21 was because we had both Rivals and Weekend League rewards on Thursday morning. This gave a ton of supply for bidding on cards that may be needed and allowed for great prices.
Now, we may only have Rivals rewards on Thursday, but it still should be profitable!
Marquee Matchups has changed a lot over the years and it's one of those methods that can bring people into the trading community. EA used to ask for specific team requirements often and it would make them extremely expensive.
If you remember, they used to ask for specific bronze teams like Sydney FC and they would all go 10K. In a realistic sense, this was not good for players in general as they would be paying 100K+ for Marquee Matchups. It was only good for traders.
Now, they have reduced the use of individuals teams and focus more heavily on the league featured. Here are some examples of the requirements used throughout Fifa 21 -
As you can see above, the Bayern game is a Marquee Matchups with the strong requirement.
You need 1 player from Bayern AND 1 player from Leizpig, which is the requirement that causes an explosion in price. Ideally, we at least club stock this matchup in advance. Although EA has moved away from asking for it each week, they absolutely explode in price with requiring each team. This is especially true for big clubs such as Bayern, Barcelona, Manchester City and Milan. These clubs have so little cards that are considered fodder that it really limits the selection. When Barcelona featured early in Fifa 21, their cards went to 7K+. As you can see, Barcelona only has a handful of cards under 83 rated that would typically be used in Marquee Matchups.
If we did not invest, you can always rash invest right at 6 PM. This is where becoming a knowledgeable trader is huge. If you know what requirements and what teams will rise the hardest, you may have 5 minutes to load up your transfer list and make a few K per card! We’ll try to make a list of these teams, too 🙌
Next, as you see in the Monaco game above, only requiring 1 player from either team usually isn't enough to move the specific teams involved. There are simply too many options available and it won't cause a sharp rise.
Now, let's look at one more example and how we can identify consistent cards that rise most weeks for MM.
In this example, we don't have the 1 of each requirement for the Chelsea vs Spurs game, so neither team would rise sharply. It would be better to invest in generic cards that provide both rating and chemistry since 85 chem with 79 rating isn't super easy. Here are some cards that did great all year due to their links and rating -
