Thursday Flips Method Explained
Hey Guys,
With a lot of new joins in recent months I wanted to create a more expansive post on Thursday Flips. If you feel comfortable with the method, you can skip this post, but I am hoping it helps many of you!
Thursday Flips refers to buying META players before Thursday and selling after Weekend League rewards. The premise is simply that after opening rewards players will go look to upgrade their team or complete SBC's. With a huge influx of buyers in a short period of time, it tends to make the market rise really well!
It's important to remember that not everyone can open their rewards right away. For example, in the US, rewards release at 2 AM at night, so we likely open 5-7 hours after! This is why I always suggest selling 5+ hours after rewards!
Thursday Flips change throughout the year. Early in the year, everyone is upgrading their team and there are only a few TOTW's or promo players, so it really pushes people towards the same cards. Early in the year, examples include players like Varane, Joe Gomez and Kyle Walker.
Now, with a huge variety of special cards in the game, it's best to look at cards that link with popular SBC's and objectives. This becomes key as it pushes a mass amount of users to want the same links.
For example, the big drivers this week are Vidal, Reus and Sanches. These are SBC's users will complete after rewards as well after taking untradables. Sanches has one of the highest completion rates I have seen in a long time according to polls I run (40%+)! If you're looking for indicators on SBC completion you can also look for likes/dislikes on Futbin on the SBC tab!
Both Vidal and Sanches have over 10,000 likes, which is insane!
I initially shouted some links for Renato on Sunday and you can see that they have slowly been rising as people look to link him in. Here are some examples -
This is a similar impact to what can happen on Thursday. All we have to do is acknowledge people will slowly complete these SBC's!
Lastly, occasionally can also see a strong rise in cards that link with red picks. New traders often make the mistake of looking at the top players in TOTW and thinking about their links.
Examples of this include Ronaldo, Messi, Lewandowski, KDB, etc. The problem is that so few people pack these top tier cards that the links would never rise. Instead, linking with TOTW works best when a card is META and lower rated. A perfect examples of this was IF Davies last week with a position change and low rating.
Goretzka and Kimmich specials both did really well!
Thursday Flips are not very different to day trading. It's a concept that I am pushing because if you understand day trading, you can easily identify some target prices for your Thursday Flips. The only difference is looking for cards that have a little bit of an extra push on Thursday.
