Who are your favorite TTRPG Patreons, and what can we do better!?!
Calling all FREE and PAID members (yes, that means you)! If you have a minute (and you haven't already done this), would you please be kind enough to tell me who your favorite TTRPG Patreon’s or TTRPG content creators are - and why?
I’d love to know, if you’d be kind enough to share!
Also, what are we doing wrong that we can do better?
Currently:
We need to get all our maps up on DriveThruRPG and start sending you all links to go download our stuff over there! (working on this! There’s about 1k maps T.T)
I need to organize our maps better (working on this #1 atm, via backlog posts)!
We need to add mechanics to our new campaigns (Luke’s doing this and it’s great so far! XD).
I’m trying to make this more of a community again with the videos and actually prioritizing getting back to messages and comments (which Luke hasn’t had time for, but that’s ok; I’m back!).
I've made a cheaper $3 monthly tier with just our campaigns, as well as the printable and FoundryVTT ready battlemaps needed to easily run them.
So we’re already working on everything we know about currently!
BUT IS THAT ALL? Or is there more? Any requests? Let me know!
Also, I want to try creating a community chat so much, but Luke’s advising I sit my ADHD ass down and focus before I put too much on my plate and can’t manage it all (he knows me well ‘:) ). Any tips for creating a community chat, anyway? I have no idea how they work, I wouldn’t want to mod bc you’re all adults. If we did do this eventually, I’d love it to be a space where you can mostly talk with each other and maybe I occasionally step in to answer questions if needed. I don’t really see it as a place to spam you with new content or new releases (as I’ve seen some other creators do), to my knowledge most of you are notified when new posts are up anyway and I don’t like being spammy in that regard.
Thoughts? Suggestions?! Lay them on me!!!
Darth Bebeth, Dark Lady of the Sith, Conquerer of Worlds, Eater of Cookies, etc. etc.
(^.^)/
P.S What's with this post's pic? It was a Midjourney generation of Lord Hammond Krenn's daughter (from our free campaign, Shadows of Rikton) which I didn't end up using. It's too pretty to waste though, so here it is!

Cropox Battlemaps does wonderful castles, but hasn't made interiors for most of them. Tom Cartos does good work all around, but charging per release rather than per month makes backing his Patreon a dicey proposition since one never knows exactly what the monthly expense is going to be.
I can imagine re the random billing, I’m really thankful Luke switched over to monthly. It has significantly dropped our income (hopefully it will recover!), but I think it’s been worth it because it is so much easier for GMs to understand and predict. Much nicer for our supporters. Thanks for the recommendations I’ll look into Cropox!
Tom Cartos and Inocyde are both fantastic.
Thank you everyone SO much for your incredibly helpful comments! I’m going to do my best to get back to you all as I have time! 🥰 ~ Beb
I like yours for its style, but I do like Tom Cartos, Forgotten Adventures (Others that use FA assets). I also belong to Beneos Battlemaps (animation, a different type of animal). Daniels Maps for City's. MapGuffin, and Crosshead. I either belong to or have in the past.
Thank you so much for this, I am going to look into all of them further to try see what we can improve on. Tom I know already! ~ Beb
Tom Cartos, Forgotten Adventures, DM Andy, and Morvold Press -- those are my main 4 that I use. Tactical Maps is decent, and Raakdos for single rooms, but the prior 3 are my favs. You guys do a nice job as well ;-)
Thanks so much for this! High praise to be up there with some of these skilled creators! I’ll look into them more, try find out how we can keep improving! 🥰 ~ Beb
I suggest taking a look at some of the more successful Patreons to see what you think they are doing right. CzePeku started a lot smaller than they are now and have grown in to a full studio. My favorites all make their own maps without using A.I. I think the most successful ones avoid it as well. The ones I look forward to the most put a lot of thought into original content as far as maps go. A Day At is great as is Kidney Boy. A Day at goes into high detail, is pleasant to get along with and work well with other creators through the platform.
No AI is a must. *Ahem*
You are doing well. I am supporting another map maker too - Heroic Maps. The only thing I would add from them you are already working on: full DriveThru-Support. As I am working with artists in the last year and knowing what AI art is doing to the artist community, I am not a fan of AI art anymore. But as I am here for the maps and not for the artwork, it is not a hard criterion for me. At least as long as you are not using it for the maps.
My comment probably won't be too helpful as it doesn't provide any ideas on how you can improve, but I just wanted to say, of all the years I have benefited from patreon art, and of all the assets that I have collected over the years, yall's art is what I use the most of. If I had to lose any of my patreon content, but keep one creator's work, it would be Seafoot Games. All I can say is, with me, you have a permanent supporter. One of the best parts of what you do is you make several different variations of your maps, which means my players might "realm shift." That has allowed for so many thematic elements, and I also find multiple purposes for each map. Your content offers a lot of options.
Ryan, that made me tear up a little. Sincerely, thank you very much for those kind words. The encouragement is definitely appreciated a lot at the moment. ~ Beb
I LOVE your maps. I started gaming on Foundry only recently, but these maps have been so awesome and easy to use (once I figured out how to work foundry)! My biggest wish is that there was an easier way to search for maps in your backlog on Patreon. I have gone back and looked through previous months and it feels like a treasure hunt, I always find something awesome! But, if there were a way for me to search for “farm” or “mushroom forest” that would be next level. I understand that kind of functionality could take lots of time to implement. And maybe this kind of search would be better on your website or another landing page. Excited for the future and praying for your family’s health and stability!
Thanks so much Andrew, this warmed my heart to read, you are incredibly kind! It is an interesting problem with map searchability, my plan to fix it is to list the maps to DriveThruRPG individually and then each month we make a bundle of the maps (named something like July 2025 Patreon Bundle) and send you all a free link to add it to your library. Bc the maps are individual listings within the bundle, they should be very easy to search through. Problem is we can’t send everyone all the map formats as we have the print / basic vtt and foundry vtt tiers, and I don’t want to make duplicate listings on DriveThruRPG (confusing!), so right now I’m thinking the best solution would be to get our Foundry modules up on Foundry Marketplace (still have to read all their legals) and just have print and basic VTT stuff on DriveThruRPG. Hope this makes sense! 😅
So my TTRPG support goes to, you guessed it, mostly map makers. Besides yourself, I support Heroic Maps and Cze and Peku. I also support Devin Knight for his VTT tokens. I love VTT maps, simple as. I have supported others, but mostly I look for high quality maps that I feel like I could use if needed. Though I also just really like maps... like alot. As for Devin, I have been a fan of his for a long time, before he even had a Patreon. His style of top down tokens is my preferred style and his art is great. I personally don't use many adventures, as I am an old forever DM. I normally free style campaigns or run published stuff that I have collected over the many years of my life. (I even have a publish adventure or two out there, but that's not really relevant). What I am saying here is basically, I can't really offer much advise on the adventure front as I fill my own need and have no idea what the current base is looking for. On the map front. 100% giving out drivethru codes is a nice way to avoid having to publish/host/share all the hard work. Also, allows a creator to restrict giving out all the back catalog to folks who join for 1 month and then quit. Sorry, not sorry for saying it. :D As for the community idea- I won't name names, but I have seen Patreon discords that end up like graveyards and those who are a bustling community, with a few in between. It is hard to say how it will end up, but one of them has the creator show up about once or twice a week and just work on stuff while streaming in discord and chatting. Only about 2-5 people ever show up, so it ends up being a good way to engage with the most involved members without being overwhelmed. If things went that route, I would suggest to plan your structure first and hope for the best then work with what you get. Hope this has been helpful. As for me, as long as the maps flow, I will be here.
Noooo! I lost my response bc I went to double check Devin’s Patreon T.T dying rn
All my tabletop RPG stuff on patreon is maps I think. My two favorite map makers that I like for reasons very similar to you Morvold maps and heroic maps, lots of detail. Lots of variations. Lots of interesting locations. I think one thing that could be interesting as an occasional bonus is maybe throwing an NPC or magic item that you think goes with the map, especially if it's something that just struck you by random chance. While you're making the map. I think that's kind of cool because it goes with the location and also kind of shows how you think about it.
Thank you for this! Yes our maps are very similar to Heroic’s, I’ll take a look at Morvold though! Interesting idea regarding the NPC and item, too! Excitingly, Luke’s made 30 items for next month’s Monster Hunter themed campaign already, they come with the sourcebook. I think he’s also considering making 2D tokens out of the monsters, but no promises! :P For clarification, do you want the NPCs and items not included with the campaign? Like, generic ones? Thanks again! :) ~ Beb
Enthusiastic patron. i don't know if this makes any sense for you to do but I would love to be able to purchase your maps on the Roll20 Marketplace. I am always short on memory limits.
Hey Ben, thanks for this! We haven’t actually used Roll20… ever 😅 Would you mind explaining this a bit more? 1. Does Roll20 have memory limits for imported maps but not maps purchased directly on their platform? 2. Do you know if it’s possible for us to send you free links to Roll20 content like DriveThruRPG allows (or are there other Patreon creators doing this)? 3. I thought DriveThruRPG was already listing all our maps over on their marketplace already but they’re obs not ready with walls, lighting, ect. And we haven’t been including these as freebies for Patrons as we don’t know how / if it’s possible. Thanks so much if you take the time to respond to my questions! 😅 ~ beb
