Unrelated to these two excellent videos (thank you for making them!!) I have to share with you that your youtube avatar / logo always looked at first glance to me like someone is picking their nose... I'm sure I'm in a minority here but I also thought you would want to know if there were people thinking that 😅
I have no problem with this.
At a glance it feels like there's some overlap with thought-terminating clichés: a short sentence, almost mantra, that one can repeat to end the discussion on something asserted as truth?
The idea that 'this is not our fault, therefor we don't need to do anything about it' is just so breathtakingly stupid. If an asteroid is headed to earth we didn't CAUSE that. Nobody ordered an asteroid on doordash. But if we don't do something about it we're all still going to die.
I considered the asteroid, but the delivery fees were out of this world. Settled on pizza again.
This is a tactic that right wingers really enjoy. They seem to get a charge out of repeating their simple statements of belief and especially when there is strong evidence that they are wrong. They get to prove their loyalty and troll the libs at the same time.
Is this a true story?
it's slightly amalgamated from a few conversations, but yes
This is a super great video and super relevant in our era of global boiling.
So good. Gets right at something I often share with friends who struggle to find common ground with conservative relatives which is: You are not on common ground. Their worldview is fundamentally different so you are not having the same conversation.
Congrats: you’ve said the word “sunspots” enough times to get the NIN song stuck in my head ❤️
Thanks so much!
Glorious
Fuck. This is perfect. And it's not too long and complicated, this really will help some stupid, I mean uh.. lost, people. While the Aunt may be lost forever, the cousins may be saved. Your analogies are spot on. Thank you for sharing.
I use this strategy. Although in my case, it's when I think someone has gone on a tangent, is overcomplicating a subject, or otherwise is going off into the weeds and is not listening to reason. It's a way to bring someone back to center. Overcomplicating can do damage in the same manner as oversimplifying.
Impressive!
I love your longer videos, but there's a very appreciable snappiness to these short form ones.
