The Cost of Doing Business (rough cut)

'sup nerds.

This edit is rough. The audio is recorded with the onboard mic of my headphones - haven't entirely figured out what my mic setup should be in the new working environs, so things are very temp right now. The doops don't currently have their paper cutout border. There's no content warnings or credits. At some point I downloaded firework footage and I don't remember where I was planning to use it?? And there are some stand-in graphics - I don't remember the font I use for the title screen so it's just ugly block letters, and there's an effect I have in mind but haven't implemented yet so it just says [COOL EFFECT GOES HERE].

But after a solid year since releasing a video: we have a rough cut.

Final edit will probably take into next month (darn it), and I'll need to premier it on Nebula before it hits YouTube. So keep it under your hats for now! But I hope you like it.

I am excited and will hold off on watching this until it comes out on Nebula.

Very solid video. Is that how one pronounces Latine? I guess I always assumed it was mostly silent e, but I guess that's pretty rare in spanish, huh? TIL. (bonus points for any video where you can drop in a Natalie cameo).

It should be pronounced La-TEE-neh, but many people pronounce it the way Ian did I.e. la-tee-NAY.

To be clear, I don't care about this myself but some pedantic people might. At 17:30 you say: "We agree with the aim of closing the racial pay gap [...]" but the bar chart you show is about the wealth gap. Of course these are causally connected but personally I would either change the audio to "racial wealth gap" or show a graph about income statistics.

Got me a little worried in the first few minutes- it's a helpful bait and switch for a wider audience though. Great work as always!

I agree with a lot of the points in the video, but the conclusion is balderdash. The answer to something failing isn't to keep doing the same thing harder, but to find a different strategy. Your liberal framing limits the possible tactics to ones fascism was historically designed specifically to counter. It's consistently undercut liberal societies in crisis, and the real solution is to implement social policies before they take power. Protests do nothing but fight for said attention. Strikes, unionization, sabotage, and building up structures to help workers of all races are far better uses of one's time than spending more attention, time, and effort on provacatuers or fascists themselves. We need to make the world better, and upholding liberalism from fascists is the job of liberals. If you want to be a socialist, then support socialist states. Otherwise, it was a great video, and I really enjoyed it! I think you're spot on about the mindset of liberal moderates, and as with all your work, it's very insightful.

All due respect, but I am a leftist and am fully aware that leftism is the only true preventative of fascism. But until such time as we have a socialist state, there are provocateurs threatening to sicc violent white nationalists on our comrades, and that needs to be dealt with.
