[POLL] Crashes & Progress Report
Hi everyone!
I'd like to start with: Holy tits! There are a lot of you now, compared to only a few weeks ago. Thank you so much for supporting School of Lust! We've had a lot of challenges along our way to develop School of Lust (for example, we're the first to ever incorporate the native animation technology we're using into the RPG Maker engine - to my knowledge -), and it's so nice to see that the game is being appreciated! We can't wait to add even more H-scenes, animations, voice acting and better music, thanks to your support!
Regarding the upcoming update (v0.21), we're currently still working on it, which most notably includes adding Flora's animated scene. You can follow the development on our main Patreon page, which shows a progress bar that we try to update daily. The update should be ready to release either close to the end of April or into May.
That said, the artist has started drawing 30+ new scenes! You've read that right! Not just single pictures, but full blown static and animated H-scenes, that will be added to the game in the near future. Each "spend time with" event, dating event and shop event will present an unique scene. I'll make sure to post some of the sketches soon!
Now on to some bad news. We received reports that the game crashes/freezes for some of you. We thought this issue was only limited to the web version or the older version, but a few of you reported that the game crashed/froze while playing the latest release (v0.20e). We'd appreciate it if you can vote down below and let us know if the game crashed for you. This will help us to determine how common this occurs, as the game never crashed/froze even once for any of the team members. Please keep in mind that I'm not referring to lag or slowdowns, but actual crashing/freezing where you have to restart the game to continue to play.

as anyone else lost there saves and know how to get them back
had the same problem with violet stopping in front of the register also have had the game lock up once when talking to uncle grip after he moved in as well as once during second swimming class when i talked to zoe on diving platform
i did the same thing. I also locked myself when i hired natalie in the store. apparently she stops right in front of the register so you cant close the shop which means you cant leave
I haven't crashed but I softlocked once in the pool scene cause I managed to leave the changing booth before one of the girls and it made it so they didn't proceed

Hi danny! Sorry to hear that you're having problems. Does it show the animation on the main menu, before it crashes, or does it crash before the girl and boy show up on the main menu? Can you give us more information regarding your PC? Which version of Windows are you on? Do you know the hardware details of your PC (e.g. memory/CPU/GPU)? I look forward to your reply.

i have had the game freeze/crash on me a few times while playing it yesterday, when i was using the memory scenes and also when i went to talk to nicole, the memory scenes i would just get pure black screen freeze and for nicole it froze while i was just trying to talk to her. cpu:i7-3820 Ram:12GB windows:10

If you are wondering what is mostly causing these crashes, it's the speed up function by holding the left mouse button and going from map to map too fast.

Hi! Unrelated question, but will you ever work on making a mac version of the game? I pledged this month and was disappointed to find out I cannot play the game. I tried running the game with WINE and was unsuccessful as well. If you dont plan on making a mac version, can you guys make a web one? like a html? I Appreciate the work and time you put into this thing. It really shows.
Hi BL! Thank you for your kind words and sorry for the inconvenience. We're aware that the game isn't compatible with Wine, and we're planning to release the upcoming update for Mac as well. I don't know yet if it will require Wine or if it will be native for MacOS, but either way, you will be able to run it. Cheers =)
As for when it crashes, it's always when loading a new area (Moving between floors of the house, going from house to neighborhood, leaving any area to the road (If I spend a lot of time in The Hole, it will almost always crash when I try to leave the school... even if I choose "Go directly home" When it crashes, the current screen will go dark (Or sometimes fade to where you can barely see the outlines), freeze for about 10-20 seconds, then the window will close.
Thank you, evilsquirrel! That's very helpful. We're working to make the map sizes smaller in the upcoming update (v0.21), as larger maps are known to cause problems on lower-end systems (like yours). This should at least resolve the crashing problem.

Apu's experience is pretty much what I have been dealing with as well. About once per game day, with trying to leave and return home the main problems. If I've been playing for more than 10-15 minutes, I can usually expect the game to crash the next time there's a delayed loading scene when moving to or from the map, or moving between floors at home. I could explore The Hole for as long as I wanted without problems. Rooms with multiple girls would lag, but that's the one place the game never crashed on me.

Mine would generally only crash when playing for over 30 minutes, and tends to lag in the hole. I think some of the problems could be fixed by breaking some of the larger maps up into parts

Game crashed quite frequently. Got in the habit of saving every time I went home or went to class. There was no apparent reason for crashing, it would just happen when I would leave an area or room for the next screen.
Okay let me say a thing about crashes here. My game never crashed on the new version but this may be because I didn‘t play it enough for that. In earlier versions of 0.20 I had 1 or 2 severe crashes and once ot twice it appeared to freeze but continued after a while. These occurences did not seem to be in any relation to anything as far as I can tell. What I mean by that is that they happened in moments where there was no bug or anything in other runs and they could not be repeated manually by me. I think one time it needed a long load time in one H scene at school with violet I think (hypnosis) but it didn‘t freeze really. And another time was in town somewhere I think but can‘t really remember. But like I the instances didn‘t appear to stand in relation to any patch or fix that came after that, so I assume that the I just didn‘t crash yet, cause I am now just waiting for 0.21
Thank you for the detailed reply, Supreme! I believe that the crashing is random, while the freezing (which eventually recovers) has to do with the animations. The crashes probably have to do with a memory leak, which is why it's random. Do you remember if the game crashed after a long session?
I had the game crash when trying to start a conversation. It initially just froze and eventually finished the conversation animation, but on a later conversation, it did not recover.
Same. I distinctly remember this happening during the second swimming pool scene. I figured it had to do with entering dialogue mode with different girls in quick succession.
