I-D-C-A-R-D Find Out What It Means To Me

Riley, Alice, and Hussein look at the growth of no-fun Britain, "Spotify for Food," and an interview with Tony Blair in the FT where he applies for the job of Starmer's vizier. What does he want Starmer to do as a number one priority? ID Cards, of course!

Maybe it's an Id-card because Blair doesn't trust British peoples Egos or Super-egos

Notable chefs licensing their brands to ghost kitchens is an already existing (and terrible) thing. And Cloud Chef thinks they can corner this market thanks to some AI Andy Serkis bullshit?? What??

As a denizen of a country with mandatory ID cards (which are fairly inexpensive, and it's mandatory for children since young) I don't get what the appeal of them for Mr Blair. Yeah,, of course it's a very sensitive information, regulated by the EU GPDR... Oh shit I get it. If its digital it's all about data collection and reselling it. With a dash of authoritarian (ab)uses. I was thinking paper ID. My bad.

Not only do you be nice to the guys with necklaces w/crosses, but also smile when they give you AI food, then spit it down your sleeve

Is everything okay? I didn't hear a reference to a Marinetti AI kitchen.

I unfortunately believe that this startup might actually work, because it can capitalize on branding and the prejudice that exists in some place that takeout food is bad. Besides that this thing has a logical next step which is set up an actual restaurant with underpaid trained cooks who have to follow the AI instructions

The AI chef kitchen guys want to create a cadre of underpaid cooks preparing food by rout and ritual, with no knowledge of how or why it works. They want to build the culinary cult mechanicus

All this ghost kitchen cloud chef thing reminds me of nothing so much as aeroplane food, which also comes with famous chef cachet

Does it infuriate anyone else that I-D-C-A-R-D has the wrong number of letters for the episode title to scan right

From one Andy to another, it's not worth it, mate.

The OG Haunted Child Voice, hands down, has to be Peter Gabriel performing The Musical Box, which features Little Henry, an Edwardian child killed in a freak croquet accident who haunts a musical box (and returns as an old man who creeps on Cynthia, the girl whose croquet mallet decapitated him). Riley, doubtless unwittingly, channels the young Gabriel uncannily. https://youtu.be/tIO-3Zj_QfY?si=C1vM2KXud9bki6Xk

Sorry Britain, cod lasagna is only for Nordic social democracies

I read an urban fantasy series set in Britain. One person in power at the magical British government kept pushing ID cards for magical persons- something that was brought up repeatedly, and then brushed off by other people in power as a stupid idea that never went anywhere. I kept thinking this was a plotline that would go somewhere but now I'm pretty sure it was just a joke about Tony Blair

I am a free listener. A listener of the land if you will. The constitution can not stop me from listening to what I want to.

Still upset that the world's first catgirl prime minister ended up working for Tony Blair's Institute for ID Cards.
