The Crazy Ass White Boy of Europe: Season 5% Begins
It's the free one!
With interest rates going to 5% in the U.K., Milo, Riley, and Alice wonder how making the money more expensive will solve Spanish droughts leading to reduced olive production (for example). Also, we bid a fond farewell to the newest residents of the challenger deep and read an article about the dangers of the fifteen minute city in the New Statesman for some reason.

wait till they get to see the problematic 80's tv show "woof"
The guy saying "access to a car" could also be taking into account the recent surge in car rental subscriptions where you don't lease a single vehicle, but get a nominally cheaper, much worse and more controlled deal on being able to use cars branded by the service provider when one is available nearby. Like with the e-scooters, as in one of the e-scooter rentlords here in Sweden has expanded into doing that as well. It seems like something that article writer would think is a really cool and good thing, anyway
Thanks for the chortles
as a basildon girl who now lives near herne hill this episode go crazy with the mentions
“Statler & Waldorf schools” lmao
"Do you think we'll get any updates on SoftBank?" "Either way, it's a HardPass from me! Dohohoh"
44:11 I like Cory Doctorow's line about neoliberal capitalism being a game of musical chairs; for a very long time, mortgage-havers got a chair, but now there are fewer and fewer chairs and some of them don't get a chair anymore.
It's somewhat tiresome to now hear "It's the end of the era of low interest rates!" from every other columnist on both sides of the Atlantic given that, unlike TF, they didn't remark on (or perhaps even notice..) the low interest rates before.
Pfft. Five percent. How about 6.0% or 6.25% by Christmas? Seems likely.
"Nurse was a middle class job, they were not supposed to need foodbanks, until they were." Yeah, ask me how I feel about my job in IT.
I feel like Riley was trying to make a Hitman joke with the imploding car, but accidentally made a Venture Bros joke?
Let's make london Haringey!
We absolutely keep tons of cat litter in the school I work in. The government advice is to keep it to absorb hazardous spills in the science chemical store because we can’t afford a real spill kit.
riley seemed like he was about to murder both milo and alice this week
Idk Riley, as someone who was bullied at school, the teachers were very much on their side, as they proceeded adopt the centrist position of doing nothing about it.
Bill Gates sounds a lot like build gates. Coincidence???
Turns out the lever that changed from racism to techno had a third, side position. (think of it as if it was a manual shift stick) : Turning the economy real.
OceanGate is reminiscent of the balloon boy, but in the instance when Branson was the balloon boy.

A 15 minute car city is sitting in the same place for 15 minutes
I'm glad y'all also booed at the Trump Tesco bit, I felt slightly less crazy. Slightly.
I would actually kill someone to not have to drive to work
During the 15 minute city segment I was on the edge of my seat waiting for an equitable society (Venice) riff. With that said I have to ask, when is the gang doing a live show from the lagoon?
Just as soon as they get kicked out of Ravenna
Hey now, it's not fair to say the UK doesn't let you spend money on anything: what about coronations?
I have a complaint, you made me break a dish laughing at the russian accent cat litter in gunshot wound thing it was just too much
Clearly the kid who really liked the warrior cats series are cultural Marxists destroying the west
My kid was really into Warrior Cats and you're right and I couldn't be more proud.
The free one voice another low interest rate phenomenon
