They have, they either don't get it or don't want to get it. There are genuinely ex-twitterati posting at mods on mastodon.social arguing that they should just break the protocol so they can just follow who they like without having to go to a different browser tab or join a different instance. But they don't want to acknowledge the massive problems twitter has for the people that have to manage it and that's a problem mastodon solves in the protocol, it just rebalances the convenience.

The best part is that this is stackable, so you can have up to 24 blue checkmarks and people have genuinely paid almost $100 for this privilege.
