Brian's Song feat. Srsly Wrong

It's the free one!

The Srsly Wrong boys join Riley, Alice, and Hussein for a watch and review of Coinbase: A Founder’s Story - a movie where the ending title cards about crypto eating shit were definitely not hastily added moments before release.

You can actually get autistics, of the kind formerly given Asperger's dxs, that're good at pretending to be neurotypical, or allistic, which is not-autistic, but you need to get us found young enough, and have accepting enough parents/family, that we don't get much, if any growing-up trauma. We definitely exist, because, hi, I'm one, but the pre-reqs are kind of rare, because the world is kind of really traumatic to grow up in, for weird kids.

"fund a resistance movement" is a weird way to euphemism "funding terrorists". Unless you're the CIA and you're funding war crimes abroad. Then it's a resistance group, yes. A freedom fighter if you will. Or a podcast. You find a resistance podcast, and fund it.

Has the gang talked about this Varoufakis interview about crypto? He was hired by Valve to figure out how to cash in on trading that had spontaneously emerged among Team Fortress 2 players. Crypto is literally based in gaming lol https://the-crypto-syllabus.com/yanis-varoufakis-on-techno-feudalism/

coming up with the real, actual reason why manhole covers are round and being crowned World Emperor of Fintech

so funny too the obsession with World of Warcraft power creep. level inflation in WoW is designed so that newcomers aren't in as much of a disadvantage against long-term players and can more quickly catch up to the curve and join raids along with the bulk of players. Basically a comparable reason to why almost all central banks have a 2% inflation target. This is a level of macroeconomics insight on the same scale as thinking mario kart should remove blue shells

if you want a vision of the economy under bitcoin, remember that guy way early in the game who bought a pizza for 10 000 bitcoin and spent the next decades kicking himself in the balls for spending anything instead of holding onto it. now imagine if all money was like that, and governments, banks, individuals were all terrified of spending or lending out their money because they all assumed it would be worth more later

Yeah but also if he had held on to it, it probably would have been stolen in Mt. Gox.

Hussein the social network ends the opposite way, Zuckerberg sends a request to the girl from the start of the film because she shows up in “people you may know”, he’s sitting there refreshing the page over and over as the lyrics 🎵how does it feel to be, one of the beautiful- people!🎵 from the Beatles’ “baby you’re a rich man” play over The message is: “Look how hollow this guy’s victory is, not a single real friend left just money!”

"how inflation is impacting bitcoin"

J

I've seen enough internet to know inflation is never good. Specially if an anthropomorphic glasses and fedora wearing bear is involved. Nope. No inflation. Never.

dogfooding is pretty widespread tech lingo (“eating your own dog food”), but i get how it sounds

when Riley said "if you haven't looked at the title of the ep we're watching COIN!" my head snapped to look at the title because I was absolutely indignant thinking I had done the homework but apparently not

Heh. Dogfooding is a term from the wider software development field. It's just the general rule that the developers of the software should probably also actually use it so they will realize if its garbage or not. Without the practice you can end up with a disconnect where the devs are convinced what they have created makes sense and unable to believe the user's all think it's garbage. Funny thing is the origin of the term is Microsoft around the time they were figuring out the Windows OS user experience was trash and the software really was constantly crashing for most regular users.

Dogfooding is an old term in software development. It's not specific to these guys or to fintech and/or crypto grifters. I first heard it in reference to people at MSFT in the 90s. I never really thought of it as calling users dogs. If anything, I've always thought that the disdain was more for the product than the user.

We had used it as a way to say "we should use what sell to our customers". Like would you eat what you give to your dog
