Phil really sounds like Brian Cox off of science? Is that just me?

Which episode is Alice referring to, the ‘why the tories are like this’ one?

The other one with Phil (Iirc like 6-10 months ago), they outline conservatism as a social movement and the tories just being a political wing of that movement

Without condoning Anthony Albanese I just have to say that he didn’t just “lock in what the coalition spent the better part of a decade doing”. I think there are areas where he falls ridiculously short (like not prohibiting new coal mines), but they did break up the Coalition’s draconian department of home affairs by removing the federal police from the portfolio. That was the coalition’s greatest institutional change and it’s now gone. The Coalition were too lazy to do anything major the entire time they were in, the institutional issues are I think a result of past Labor governments assuming that the system would be run by people with good technocratic intentions. Wait until their revised budget gets released in October, then I’m sure you’ll have some reasons to criticise him that are well informed.

Sandal wearers, lentil munching, yoghurt knitting etc etc

For the dig at "sandal wearers," is that supposed to be a racist dog whistle, or are sandals being portrayed as undignified or an indication of weakness? I can't quite wrap my mind around it.

My best guess is that it's anti-hippie sentiment. My old granola not-aunt wears sandals exclusively, as seasons permit

All elections and election shenanigans are cursed, but some are more cursed than others. We truly live in the worst time-line.

Could be worse, we could live in the timeline where Trash Future is an IR podcast.
